Here's my first attempt at painting True Fire
Rudy replied to Brian Nehring's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I wish my first attempt at ANYTHING looked that good! Rudy -
I like It! I never thought of moving the front wheel openings forward on these trucks. I am also building a truck-trailer-racecar or hot rod combo (still undecided on what is gonna go on the trailer, probably my Gas-Rhonda mustang funny car in the finishing stages, paint etc.) Truck is a 57 chevy stepside pickup. It was my first attempt at a real nice paint job with letting the paint and primer gas out and wet sanding and polishing etc. I will tell you this, the next one I go full-tilt on the paint with WILL NOT be a stepside! Too hard to polish and wetsand the bed! Looks great. Rudy

Amt Hits A Double With New Ford Kits.
Rudy replied to LUKE'57's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a nice 60' Starliner on the shelf. I think I shall build a 61 and 62 to go along with it. Great "New" kits. It's awesome that they include all the parts to build it several different ways, including a convertible. Rudy -
Dammit. So much for my "quick build" to break up the monotmony of the longer, annoyingly delicate builds. I guess I will have to get a dehydrator...... Sounds like Laquer is the only way to go........ Wait a month!?!?!?! Jeez....... What a p.i.t.a........ Thanks gents! Rudy

I am finishing up the paint on a 57 chevy pickup that I am building. It is my first "Real" attempt at a good paintjob. I had never done much else other than just spray the paint and call it good in the past. I have sprayed many coats of Testor's enamel on the car with a good coat of primer and a nice wet sanding underneath the paint. I have never sprayed clear before and was just wondering how long after I spray the last coat of paint do I apply the clear. Right after? When it is still tacky? 15 mins? 2 hours? 2 days? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rudy

Jj Smith Passed Away Yesterday
Rudy replied to Bowtienutz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very saddened to hear this..... I was really pullin' for him. Off to a land of never ending spare parts boxes, no glue bombs, and cherry paint jobs every time........ Godspeed JJ..... See you on the other side my friend...... Rudy -
Unfortunately, yes they do.

Thoughts And Prayers Needed For Jj Smith
Rudy replied to Bowtienutz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I also do not know JJ, but have just read the blog. He looks like a beaming young gearhead with an infectious smile. I am also in a wheelchair myself, a T-4 Paraplegic. Lung congestion and Pneumonia are BAD BAD BAD news, as when paralyzed you cant cough this stuff up and it just fills your lungs and must be sucked out which is also very painful. I dunno if JJ is paralyzed, but i do know that Lung congestion when bed-ridden is bad news. On a side note, I am building the Gas Rhonda Mustang funny car he is sitting by in one of the pictures. I sure hope he can pull through........ Prayers going up! Rudy -
I am looking for some links or ideas of where to find some suppliers for aftermarket detailed parts, engine parts, stromburg carbs, maybe wheels, resin bodies, anything or any good sources you know of. I am new to building anyhting other than box stock or adding homemade details. I am ready to add some REAL details!!!! Thanks, Rudy

Welcome back!! I am also pretty new to the forum, but it is a great place with lots of nice people and all are very knowledgeable....... I really dig the gassers! They look great. I have been eyeballing the stone, woods, and "cookie" cook willys for a while, this settles it. I must have it! Welcome!! Rudy

Thank you very much for the help guys. I wish i would have asked before applying the squadron product. It was a real p.i.t.a to work with, that is for sure. I will have to get a set of those files too. They look real handy for a variety of jobs. Having no place to paint right now isnt helping. I only have a 1 car garage, and that has my 1:1 freshly painted mustang in there, so no painting allowed!! I cant wait for summer time. I hate michigan winters. Thanks again, Rudy

I love the shop!! Where did you get all the stuff for it. Tool boxes, jackstands, etc. It looks great. I want to make one for myself... Rudy

I love it!!! I dont know why we dont have alot (if any) crew -cab tow trucks in this country(USA). It seems to me people would be willing to pay an extra fee to ride along in the truck with the driver. Sometimes people do, sometimes you cant. There is 2 guys in alot of the trucks I see...... Very interesting build. Rudy

I second the fact that no apologies are needed!!! If you are apologizing for the quality of your work than I am in trouble!!! Looks great, I love the paint scheme. Very realistic. Rudy

1- Turn on PC 2- Get on line 3- Go to my photobucket account 4. Login to photobucket account 5. when account loads and your pictures are displayed, go to the picture you want to post on a reply to a post or whatever you are trying to post it on, there will be 4 Bold lettered headings below each pic: Email and Im's, Direct Link, Html code, and IMG code. Each of these will have a text box next to it. Right click on the box next to IMG code and copy. Go back to the page you are trying to put the pics on, right click below the text that you posted and PASTE the IMG text there. It will look something like this: blah blah blah blah blah (img)asdg/12234 pic of truck(img) the pic WILL NOT show up in the post until it has been posted. Hopefully this helps and doesnt confuse the ###### out of you....... If not, PM me andd I will walk you through it on the phone.... Rudy -
My late Uncle, Michael "Sparky" Browne, wired all of Spiro Pappas' cars. I believe that car in the picture is the one That Michael owned. It was built by The also late Steve Grebeck (Michaels' best friend) for Michael, then sold to Kirk Ferris (Howdy), then to Spiro. I saw the car getting updated at Skinny Kid's shop last spring. We lost Michael in a car accident Aug 18th 2007. He was on his way to help a cutomer of his at Milan Dragway. Some of you involved in racing may know him, he was the owner and sole Employee of his business, Wires and Pliers. He was one of my best friends, and i miss him everyday. I would sit in his shop all day just watching him work. He was a silent genius at what he did. I guess Steve Grebeck had a wiring issue he just couldnt figure out, and called sparky up to help him...... At least he has a friend in heaven........ Rudy
