  1. Thank you. It was my first one as far as getting back into building racecars. I usually build planes but have built a few more since this one.
  2. I know this is an old topic but I used Alclad transparent yellow on my Bill Eilliott build that's on here. Sprayed in a very light coat over the chrome wheels. If not, the wheels are "too" gold. I also used mineral spirits and lightly wiped the wheels ( with a q-tip) to let some of the chrome come back through. It took me several times to get this right.
  3. What a great build! Fantastic job! I've always loved that car and you nailed it.
  4. Great build! Super clean and I don't think you missed on the blue, it looks good.
  5. WOW. Just scrolling through the board and this is a fantastic build!! Beautiful.
  6. I used Tamiya tape and used a straight edge ruler (metal) and just cut thin strips of tape. It took me several times to get it the way I wanted.
  7. Bill Elliott Thunderbird Monogram. Was a pretty fun build for the most part. For me this car had to have the "shiny" gold wheels. That was always my favorite part about this car. I sprayed them with very light coats of Alclad Transparent Yellow. It took me several times to get this right as if you spray too much, the wheels are too "gold". Filled in the front fenders and sanded off the side trim. Aftermarket fuel filler, distributor, dash, and hoodpin kit. I made the window net from Tamiya tape. Made new rear window "straps" and added aftermarket rivets to the front windshield clips, rear window straps and the rear spoiler. Made new headers from aluminum tubing, TS-8 Italian Red, TS-26 Pure White over Tamiya white primer, and Tamiya clear. Polished a little with Novus polish. Really like that stuff. I know there are debates at times about should the window net should be up or down on builds but I felt like the car looked better with it up after experimenting with both. Thanks for looking.

  15. What a great build! Love the weathering and details!
  16. Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Before I attached the nose, I shaved off some of the front end (didn't measure just eyeballed it). Also opened up the front wheel openings a bit to get that front fender section a little smaller. Doing all this required the hood to be shaved a bit on the windshield side. Next time if I do a Lemans, I'm going to also do something with the front bumper/nose as it's a bit too pointy.
  17. Thanks all!
  18. Just finished this up. Salvinos Lemans. Messed with the roof and the front end a bit. Had to really shave some plastic off the dash area and the roll cage to get the body to sit down. Overall I enjoyed building it. Thanks for looking.
