Any Chance AMT Might Backdate The Dodge Van?
Hondamatic replied to oldcarfan's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Yeah looks like the A100 van emblems. Maybe MPC got it off a Dodge preproduction van or something -

Ironic that they never had that Dodge lettering on the hood in that font either... I think? Oh, here's another idea. Engraved lines inside the body, interior, chassis to cut to make a shorty "for advanced modelers" -

The 2 with the cut out roofs are '78s. I love these 70s dodges and most times I'll just buy bad rebuilders and piece them together with '82 cuttings Here's an idea, 70s or 90s dodge cargo vans with flashed over window openings, and window units that have the trim molded on so it's a little more elegant than the amt 70s vans. Hell, let's do this with the chevy ones too. Tradesman, Sportsman, and Plymouth Voyager decals too??? Hello @SteveG put me down for a case ?????? -

The bottom one is my "rip off van" that I posted in the "under glass" board. Not sure what what issue, but it's one with the later grille and workshop interior. The 3rd from the bottom is the "truckin usa" one and has the portholes cut out already -

Love this thing -
This is my "rip off street van" made from a MPC Dodge van bought from a blurry ebay listing It was cheap enough that even with no body, it was probably worth it

MPC Datsun Lil hustler
Hondamatic replied to Hondamatic's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I hogged out the slots on the hinges and that seemed to help. The windshield on mines seems to have to go on top of the cowl for better fit. I'm sure if there was more glass adjustment earlier on, I would've been good. See? It's not too bad at the beginning, but note no glass and no dash. Maybe I had to cut the dash back more. I did glue the interior to the chassis first, seems like the only thing with positive mounts, then I worked forward and rearwards from there -

Yup, you're right, but the Turtle Wax version wasn't doing it for me, maybe because there wasn't one back in the day? The Cragars look so good too -

Oh man, now I wish I bought that kit.. thats the nice thing about those 70s era MPC kits, they kept using the same few wheels on everything -
Yes! And don't forget the convertibles too! You're almost making me wanna build more 64 Galaxies now! FYI I used the modified stocker version interior and chassis plate for my NASCAR one, but that kit comes with a bunch of the old custom version parts too and just about everything can swap over

So rad, I wonder if Atlantis has these

Looks fantastic, what paint did you use for body color?

I'm kinda hoping these would come back, but Maybe they didn't because the Cragars were lost? Throw some extra mural decals kinda like the Dirty Donny van.. Would be an easy one to make, to help make money for the backdating... ? -
I was gonna do the NASCAR one in black, but it may be too much black with the deleted trim. You may have to get 4 or 5, because a stock black one with red interior and a factory lightweight style one would look good too

Wow, you were actually able to contact them? I keep getting sent around in circles

Yeah it's been a couple years since ours sold models I saw a guy selling a started project awb amt galaxie on ebay and I had to copy it
-
I love the hell outta this Oops I commented already

When Walmart had those Ford drag combos, I bought a bunch, so I had a lot of these Galaxies around. As you can see, they can be built in many styles. Maybe a stock one next
