Charles, here's a great photo of one of these Frenzel superchargers on a Ford engine. I myself have a 3d printed Frenzel on a Lincoln V12 I'm looking forward to dropping into the right build!

...but stayed tuned, the really crazy stuff didn't really seem to start till the 50's got underway!
-
And finally, a mid-engined 1927 T-Roadster! Apparently anything went during this heyday of "Hot Rodding" cars. (HRM September 1950)

Nothing like a guy who takes a Cord sedan, drops in a Mercury engine, and goes racing! I'm assuming he did this for the front wheel drive, but it's a wild ride in any case!

And off in a different direction, HRM October 1949 had an earlier iteration of the Pierson Brothers Salt Flats racer. I have seen diecasts of this vehicle, but don't know if any scale models exist. In any case, it would be fun to build this earlier version in "as raced" condition.

HRM October 1948 had an interesting article regarding a channeled 1941 Mercury done by Barris Custom Shop. What a beautiful car. I don't know my "Lead Sled" history very well, but may I assume this was one of the earlier attempts? In any event, I would love to build one of these.

Came out awesome Jeremy!

Apparently, there were no rules back then... From HRM October 1949, I present the "burn yourself on the way in and out" roadster...

The January 1949 HRM cover had this one. Inside an article with cutaway drawing and everything needed to scratch build this beauty...
-
I would guess they were going for a bit of the Ford GT prototype look, since these were so famous at the time...

Under the heading of "Photos that inspire me to build" is this beauty from April 1948 of HRM: If anyone else runs across a great photo/article/advertisement, I hope you'll post it here. Just make sure to note the issue of HRM so the rest of us can check it out too!

So cool! I'm still in the 50's right now, and there are articles here and there regarding model builds...
-
The only problem Bill; the more I read these old articles, the more ideas I get for new builds!

I think this is a link our entire readership would enjoy, but I'm not sure how to get the word out so everyone sees it...
