  1. Potentially suitable to do a Nordstadt Käfer. Autohaus Nordstadt in Hannover put widened 1303 bodies onto Porsche 914 chassis, which they fitted with Carrera engines.
  2. I gave the Beetle to daughter #2 for Christmas. She was well chuffed with it and put it together without any assistance. She is 10. She also uses it to ferry around her Lego people. The knob pattern is fully Lego compatible. It's made from a very sturdy plastic, not unlike Lego, too. Apart from the odd scale, which is indeed somewhere around 1:22, it's quite a neat model.
  3. That doesn't make them better.
  4. Interesting that the German S&H Torino has no reference to the series on it despite its popularity there. Royalty avoidance?
  5. You could use Ebbro R4 wheels.
  6. In 1966 Frog announced a new 1/25 scale car kit line. Shown in the catalog was this: Also announced were a Volvo P1800 and a Caravan! Frankly bizarre, but typical of Frog, was that they planned to plate the entire body and one was supposed to mask the chromed parts off and paint the rest.
  7. Those Beetles look a lot like the old Imai rubbish to me. So if the Stratos isn't the ESCI, it could well be this:
  8. Because there are absolutely no other subjects to tool up. None. Nada. Zilch. Njet. Nichts. Rien.
  9. Oooh, new tool 500 and ESCI Escort reissue exactly when I need it.
  10. The Talbot-Lago Record reissue announcement just made my day.
  11. It's alive and well today.
  12. Not anymore. You can try Obletter at Karlsplatz/Stachus. FPM Modellcars at Münsingerstr. 38, 81477 München, Obersendling Kleine Klassiker Modellautos Wolfratshauser Str. 42 A, 82065 Baierbrunn But generally Germany is as online store as anywhere else.
  13. Heard several times during the Mecom livestream: Maintenance Record - Service History
  14. I have used Humbrol flat white for whitewalls and white letters for 40 years now and never had a problem. Even on my first ones it's like on the day I applied it and even washing the models with soap and water doesn't affect it. The easiest way to apply it to the raised letters is with the tip of one's finger.
  15. Two weeks' holiday in France is cheaper...
  16. You got me completely wrong. What I mean is try to find a better one to start with. Any old car here is "not the same" anymore, because more than half of it has rotted away a long time ago. Add to this that there are very few of these Cortinas left, hence you just have to do what he did if you want one. There is no alternative, otherwise people would happily jump on them, trust me. Asking what a mint survivor would cost is futile, simply because there is no such thing. England currently experiences a wave of re-imports of old chod from Malta, South Africa, Cyprus and Oceania, simply because demand by far outstrips supply just because the survival rate of old cars here is so low. My '71 Rover required no welding simply on the grounds, that it was dry stored for almost 40 years. Of the hundreds of Rover P6es I know here via the club, there is only one single other one that is also completely unwelded, because it spent most of its life in Spain. So mine is the only one known to the club, that survived in England completely unscathed. And it's wafer thin in some areas regardless, so it will require welding in the near future. This is England, not Brazil. If you want to get a suntan, you have to travel abroad. Sean Connery is a sterling example, immediately after he ran into some loot, he emigrated from Scotland to the Bahamas, from where he conveniently asserts his solidarity with his home country ever since. Cars from the coast usually are a bit better, since the climate there is a tad milder. But in a small country like the UK, cars rarely spend all their life in one location. Cars are sold up and down the country and the areas that are kinder to cars have been raided a long time ago. I know, this is hard to imagine for someone who lives in a country where the sun shines occasionally.
  17. Everything is 1/24, except the Buggy, which is 1/32 and the Black Pearl, which is 1/72.
  18. Oh thanks! That very article served as the inspiration, though. It's too long ago for me to remember what I used for the grille, but I think it was a Turbine car rear end I modified. The truck is powered by a turbine from a Turbine car as well. The trailer was made from a plastic drinks cup and lots of the plinths that came with the AMT Prestige kits. The trailer fenders were made from the pen holders from the same kits. It also has rear doors inspired by Diner doors.
  19. LOL! Try to find a better one in the UK.
  20. The Corgi is modelled after the very car in the resto vids. Check the reg. I know the owner/restorer of the real car.
  21. Now I'm learning, I hitherto only knew of the 'Cuda and the Superbird in S&M guise. Jo-Han has a lot to offer for this thread though, what with their mixed and matched interiors in the USA Oldies series.
  22. Hey, you just spotted another mistake that has hitherto escaped me. Wrong on how many levels is this box art now?
  23. On the AMT/Frog issue of the '68 Galaxie, Daytona is a dirt track raced clockwise.
  24. I wouldn't buy a Lotto ticket if I was you.
