  4. "Easy Off" oven cleaner is called "Mr Muscle" in the UK and "K2R" in Germany.
  5. I just learned that the American "Future", English "Klear", is called "Pledge" in Canada.
  6. I had good results with what we call "thick bleach" in the UK. It's essentially a toilet cleaner, containing sodium hypochloride. You could check if something like that is available in Canada. Also, you can wipe resin parts with cellulose thinner.   8. Yeah, just reissue inferior rubbish to put unsuspecting first time buyers off your brand forever. A superb business strategy, I bet that's what they teach at universities nowadays. On a different note, am I the only one who is a tad underwhelmed by the AG's releases since they launched the Routemaster?
  9. Being one of those Europeans, I tend to gravitate toward replica stock most of the time, but I do enjoy customs, hot rods and show rods. I really love some of the way out creations done by some people around here.

There is a lot of such stuff used by American modellers, such as Easy-Off oven cleaner, 409 cleaner, "purple pond", etc. Importing this kind of stuff is a. prohibitively expensive and b. often forbidden because of that there safety, you know. Although many of these these brands are not available outside North America, equivalent, or at least similar products do exist. My idea is to create some sort of a cross reference to help modellers in any part of the world identify these products in their countries. I have little knowledge myself, so this will be something we need to work on together. One I have figured out though: "Future" (the acrylic floor stuff) is available in the UK and it's called "Klear" there and it's made by Johnson Wax Ltd, Frimley Green, Camberley, Surrey, England. Also, in America it seems to be common practice to soak resin bodies in Westley's Bleach whitewall tyre cleaner to get rid of the mould residue. No such cleaners exist in the UK (to my knowledge), but it can be subsituted with any "thick bleach" toilet cleaner. After a bath in it, the parts should be rubbed down with cotton and a bit of cellulose thinner, though.
  11. Unique Replicas also made the '37 Studebaker Pick Up. Way cheaper than the Danbury and not too bad a quality at all. I'm sure y'all were just waiting for this meaningful and important bit of trivia.

  20. It doesn't matter which box you buy it in, it's always the same kit inside. The ones in "Matchbox/AMT" boxes are likely moulded in a plastic resembling curd soap, but that doesn't make them worse to build.

  23. Gosh, when you imported US cars into Europe, you always had to remove some lights here, and add some there. I hated it. You know the wonderful combined brake lights/indicators of the older cars? You had to separate them in Europe, which was naff. In some European countries, you even had to add orange indicators in the back. How gopping is that? Red side markers are still forbidden, despite they look so good on - say - a '70 Eldorado. I usually reversed all that rubbish once the car was registered and re-instated the changes for the next MoT - just to reverse them again ten minutes afterwards.
