  1. A trick to lowering the front suspension is to use the torsion bar k member from the Superbird kit. The wheel stub from the Superbird sits up near the top of the stub axle which then lowers the front suspension, always though the front suspension on this kit sits to high
  2. Really pleased to see that Revell have finally decided to do the 48 with a stock roof, together with the Model A it'll be a definite on my must have list
  3. R & M firewall 6 carb manifold, carbs, frog-mouth air intakes, plus R & M finned front brake drums.
  4. Great work, will be using you idea re the airbags and tires, your detail work is incredible, have been putting off building this kit for ages because of those problems, this is the kick along I needed. Will most likely adapt the aero sleeper box of the KW snap kit
  5. Another tip re the tires. The Italeri plastics two piece plastic tires fit these snap kit rims with a bit of work perfectly. You'll have to shim the center piece to slightly spread the tires apart.
  6. Interested to see how the R&M SCOT blower goes together, I've got a couple of these, the workmanship of these is "spot on" kinda' hesitant to build them, all those blower pulleys look quite daunting, especially to a "bumble fisted" builder like me. Also like the idea of using the 40 Ford rear cross member.
  7. Thinking about fitting the Rex mixer to the DM600
  8. Neat idea with the engine, would never have thought of that. Will have to check that idea out, thanks for the tip. Hopefully the same idea will work with the Cat block in the KW or Pete snap kit
  9. 30/31 Model A is all I'm interested in, none of the others get a look in
  10. Thanks for the tip on how you did the Vortex air cleaners, They look exactly right. Recently got the grill and air cleaner mesh from Plano Model Products. You've really hit the nail on the head with this build, love the paint
  11. With a little bit of work the Italeri 2 piece plastic tires are a perfect fit for the KW snap rims. Wheel spacer needs to be widened a bit. Always thought the kit tires are a bit skinny plus don't really fit the kit rims all that well
  12. Maybe the grill is not "quite right" but it's the best you're going to get. I'm extremely pleased to finally have the coupe kit, it's been a long wait.
  13. Check out Auslowe, they do quite a lot of resin parts for this kit, including the proper Mack cross members for this chassis.
  14. Just wondering if it's possible to paint two complete model car bodies with the pre thinned 1 oz jars of Gravity paint?
  15. Was never satisfied with the way the hood fits the body, mines still half built. You seem to have pretty much solved the problem. Looking good so far.
  16. Thanks for the info re narrowing the wrecker body. The more I look at it the more I like it, everything has been expertly done, especially the detailing and weathering
  17. How much did you have to narrow the body, any photo's or tips on how you did it?
  18. "WOW" that is really nice, looks exactly right. Auslowe Model Truck Accessories now does a resin visor for this cab.
  19. Excellent work, where did you get the tail lights from?
  20. Great work, absolutely amazing. Following is how I use Alclad. First apply the gloss black, Alclad have there own gloss black ALC 304 but any enamel gloss black will do the trick, must be an enamel type paint, lacquers just don't work. After the black has dried I then airbrush on their Alclad Clear Base ALC 303, it's a gloss clear designed to be applied after the gloss black has dried. This really leaves a very high gloss surface for the Alclad chrome, I then just mist the chrome on at around 15 psi on a 45 deg angle. Alclad also have a clear that's designed to be a sealer coat over Alclad chrome. It's called Alclad Aqua Gloss ALC 600 this has a milky color in the bottle. This is designed to be applied after the chrome has dried, and makes it easier to handle without fear of the chrome finish being damaged..
  21. Excellent job, are they the kit tire decals?
  22. Known as a "Bull Bars" in Australia, Not as common as they use too be unless you're running in the out back. Now can get the same protection with a reenforced bumper bar . The one in the photo is a total "Overkill" looks kinda' dumb to me !!!!
  23. Can anybody tell me what the long thin tank on the chassis in front of the fuel tank is for?
  24. You've done an excellent build with this one, I'm just about to start this kit. Also interested in knowing whats involved in lowering the suspension, any tips would be of help
  25. Looking absolutely fantastic so far, you may have to adjust the ride height, some of these Revell Ferraris; are inclined to sit a bit too heigh on the suspension, other than that they are great kits.
