Texas 3D Customs

No… the kits are not sold separately. You order the engine and select your upper kit. Be it stock or aftermarket. Transmissions you already sell separately, on some. This way you don’t have a custom engine that isn’t selling. Again, just a suggestion. -

Actually no. Develop your platform. Have variations to your design. That way you buy the basic engine, trans and upper kit. All your stuff. -

First of all, I love your product! My order arrived today and the carbs are phenomenal. The engine is gorgeous. I posted a pic of my Trabant project as a reply to your meme on FB. If I may suggest, offer a basic engine. Then have a “day 2” kit. Valve covers, intake, carb, aircleaner and headers. You do that with transmissions. It would be fun to order a custom engine by just ordering the partial block and hop up kits. You could mix things up with the parts without selling individual small parts. Moroso kit, M/T kit, etc. At FM, I tried to develop variations up front. Tooling was a bit more expensive, but if a variant was required, it could be put into the market in a significantly shorter time. Also meant that all the engineering was done up front with no retro fitting later, at a much higher cost. At GMP, working with my counterpart at the factory, we came up with a matrix of 13 variations from a Mustang tool. Small block, big block, manual, auto, A/C, non A/C. 67/68, fastback, convertible, wheel choices. It was tedious at first, as this was the most aggressive matrix ever. However, once we nailed it…. Just a thought… -
I just saw the reference to the buff article! This method has saved me countless hours of tedious work. Brian shared his saga of the truck over the years and the paint was quite peeled at first. He intrigued me to the point where I had to try it and I was sold. I’ve known Brian since my FM and GMP days. I’m honored to call him my friend. Now you need to get him to show off his ‘57 (?) Ford build! It’s subtle but also outstanding!

Ric Golding was my “go to guy” for accessories and concept models when I was at Franklin Mint. I have drawers full of his stuff. If he does not have it, contact me and I will see what I have left! However, you must contact him first! He was a huge asset in helping me create some memorable product at FM! Thank you Ric and enjoy retirement! -

Just a little historical humor. Back in the early eighties, I saw a ‘69 Chevelle. Really nice, low mileage car. Buckets, 4 speed and a 427. Guy at the show said it was factory. I balked! Never heard of such a thing. He was asking $5k. No way, I thought! In later years it turned out that it was a legit COPO car. Went for stupid money. Second time was when my friend offered me a Yenko Stinger Vega Wagon, in red. New turbo in the back in a box. Get this…with a parts car! All for $100. I balked! I never second guessed from that point on! Went back and looked at the Malibu 400 registry and realized what a rare car my college buddy had! I may know a lot about muscle cars but it fascinates me how much more I learn every year! -

I believe you could order instrumentation. My friend had it in his car. The tach had a redline that matched the 400 BBC. I’m looking into that to confirm. Update: Yes, Sport Instrumentation was available with a V8 on Coupes and Convertibles. I recall my friend telling me that he had everything the SS had except the high insurance! Lol! I knew he didn’t have a L78! I believe his was a L35 with a snorkeled Aircleaner. His car also had buckets, console and a 4 speed. -
Just to let you know that Wylde Parnelle and I will finally meet face to face at NNL East! We will be set up! There will be new stuff to see plus many of the usual suspects in his line. For years, I have bugged him about doing parts for a 1970 Malibu 400. A friend in college had one and schooled me on it! I hope to build the one he had! As a tease, Wylde is allowing me to share these shots!

“Mongo pawn in game of life”. Proposal stands, if interested! I think this could be a fun project. Relight that pilot light of creativity. I wanted to do “fire” when I did The Franklin Mint, Chuck Wagon. Scale tech wasn’t available then. This concept has already started the gears turning! -

Here’s a proposition…I’ll buy the dumpster and electrics, detail it up and do a write up. A while back, Brian Schindler did a large dumpster and display case. Wound up on my auction. It was a satirical build for the 1:18th guys. Had quite a lot of interest! -

I wasn’t ignoring you, Brian! yeah, headlights are too big for the spot and quite flat. When I did the GMP GTO they were recessed with a separate lens. I might discuss this with Wylde. I do have the parts he can work with! May require drilling out the headlight areas for the added depth. -
