  1. Very nice. That Cadillac engine is pretty cool
  2. That's the era I was going for! I wasn't sure if the black wheels would be too plain but I think it's cool! I did try some spinner bar hubcap style wheels but I think this is better. I feel some of the designs back then were halfway to being a custom before they even rolled off the line so I didn't want to veer too far away, not that I don't like the wild stuff too though!
  3. Thanks for the comments guys! I didn't refer to this picture during my build but this is the inspiration:
  4. Hey guys. This is my first one of this year as this is mostly my cold weather hobby. This is the current AMT '57 molded in blue. I picked it up at Michael's (Canada) with one of their 40% off coupons so it was about $20. It's a pretty basic kit with few pieces. Mine was molded pretty poor but overall it fit together fine. For the model I think of it as custom by omission. I didn't add anything, just took some stuff away. So the door handles, chevy script and V on hood and deck, the 3 bars behind the headlights, and the top section of the fin trim were sanded off. I left the grille bar off. I built it straight out of the box otherwise and have the front axle in the low hole. I forgot pics under the hood but there's not much going on under there. I left engine bay detail out because custom and terrible molding. Paints are craft style acrylics thinned and airbrushed. Primer is duplicolor Filler, clear is also duplicolor with matte on body and gloss on the roof. Interior is craft paint with a few details picked out and a light wash of a darker colour. Chrome trim is paint marker with no clear on it, it is delicate this way but much more shine at the expense of careful handling to not touch the chrome. I still need to fiddle with the camera settings a bit . Hope you like it! correction: The whitewall tires did not come with the kit, but they're the same molding as the blackwall tires from the kit.
  5. Timeless combo. It really sparkles, looks great!
  6. The lunar rover is kinda the most serious offroad vehicle of all time if you think about it. Love all of them. The pop up camper with canoe is my favourite
  7. Quite the coffee table! I like your lighting, the colour and the shadows produced adds some realism for me. It even adds to the sense of the era being depicted. Very cool!
  8. Looks good! Lot's of detail for the eye to see. I like how the enclosure is shallow/not the entire race shop, you've still got lots to look at but less shelf space taken up for display.
  9. Cool build. I've felt a bit bored with the cars lately.. nothing catching my eye and no big ideas in my head. I enjoy the building more than anything so something like this is giving me some new ideas
  10. Looks great. I think it looks good without the chop. Chop the next one!
  11. Awesome detail. That bit of orange visible on the bottom of the filter element is a really clever touch!
  12. Looks good to me! If it was mine my only addition would be a car number somewhere, but it's great as is. I also like the use of bandage tape, good idea.
  13. Nice builds, I like the Uno regal. I'm not much of a Nascar fan but I have to say these look like they'd be a fun build for a little change of pace for me. The local shop has a wall of vintage stock car kits on consignment... maybe I should have a closer look
  14. Looks like a fun project. And look at the full floater diffs in those cars!
  15. Super cool, I like all the goodies on the roof. I like the wheels as well, I like your idea of looking at toys for misc. pieces. Thrift stores could be a good source too
