  1. I used the same testor's paints I had. I guess I'll look at a different paint (like the Tamiya Acrylic or the india ink you mentioned) to do this. I defintely saw my method reacting with the paint! I like the idea of water to thin it.
  2. I tried a wash for the first time on the engine of my green 41 Willy's and it came out ok. I super thinned out some flat black with thinner and put it on lightly with a brush. I tried the same on a door panel to try to get some depth and a different shade but it looked bad and I repainted it. What's the trick to wash???? I'm not sure I get it.
  3. ok. I'm new here and learning alot. I've greatly enjoyed (and have been awe of) everything I've seen here. I'm also thankful for all the help I've received. So, I thought I'd give back and share my current project... A metalic green 41 Willy's with hinged trunk and suicide doors. This is my first attempt at using hinges btw. Also my first attempt at spark plug wires (I used thin solder, which is very easy to use I think). I left a tiny amount of side-to-side play in the trunk and I epoxy'd a thin piece if wire next to the hing so I can slide it over and let it settle on the wire to keep the trunk open. 4. purple pond? dawn disolver? English please...
  5. Wow! Nice! That thing is wicked looking!
  6. Here's a pic of the 41 Willy's. The frosted windshield is next to the rear wheel.
  7. Yes. I've taken him up on his VERY KIND offer. I'll try the polish route and see how it goes, and to get some experience. But since I can get a perfect replacement I might as well do that.
  8. ok. Tried the Future, but no change... still a foggy windshield. Where can I get the plastic polish stuff? Deos Advance Auto carry that?
  9. Hmmm... I can try spraying clear gloss over it. Didn't think it would work. Now, should I try that before or after I try the Future (which I just picked up during lunch)??? I really hadn't expected the matte spray to make it look frosted, had hoped it would just reduce the shine to match the rest of the car. Live and Learn. I enjoyed the 41 Willy's so much I picked up another one today. I'm going to try making the doors and trunk open for the first time on this one.
  10. Wow. Thanks for the great feedback and ideas. The windshield is glued in place so I'll try the future floor polish applied with a brush first and see how that works out. If that doesn't work I'll try to work it out with a hobby knife and try polishing it. Raul, Thanks alot for offering your windshield! If the above ideas don't work, I'll be getting in touch with you. I'm really happy with how this car turned out (first time trying a flat color), except for this darn windshield. I'm definitely eager to learn how to correct this mistake. Now I just gotta get through one more day at work so I can get home and work on this... I'll try to get a pic of thw Willys to post. Thanks to all! E
  11. Hi all. New here and have been building cars since very young. But apparently not on the level you all are. I'm blown away by some of the stuff I've seen on this site tonight. I've just finished up a Revell 41 Willys and got Matte overspray on the windshield. I made the car a flat black and cleared with matte clear.... So instead of having specks all over the windshield, in my haste I just gave it an even coat (I know, stupid move). Now it looks frosted... Any ideas how to make it look better? Black it out? Thanks, E
