What did you use to glue and prep the pill bottles for paint?

So, this is the project that I ran away from the Volkswagen Jolly to build. Anyways, yet another Ollies kit and this one I'm building box stock. Due to the fact that I didn't post my progress (up until this point), I'll just post the progress with labeled days. (That may or may not be truly accurate) Day 1: I had to glue a shim into the chassis to allow the front axle bit to fit in Here's the engine assembled. You can also see where I drilled holes for plug wires, even if I decided not to install them. Looking at the body, you can tell how rough the molding was on it. I'm not sure if this is technically short-shot but it's not really noticeable enough for me to care to fix it. Day 2: Threw some grey primer onto the body to see how rough the molding lines really were Day 3: Painted the engine and the various parts under the hood Day 4: I put down a coat of white paint... but the red plastic creeped through. I bought a can of shellac so I know what to do after stripping all the body parts. Day 5: Chassis painted as well as the exhaust pipes Interior and Dash painted (although I'm not done with them) I think they look pretty terrible right now but so is painting with a brush (for me). They definitely need to be cleaned up

So.. I went to a flea market about a month ago and came home with a '90 Thunderbird SC that some kid had started long ago and lost gas on. With that, everything (besides a headlight lens) was present and usable except for the rear glass. The kid who started the kit had split the rear glass right down the middle. With that, I really don't want to buy another rear window piece as the piece would end up costing almost as much as what I paid for the kit. One thing that I have been trying to work out is if I could make a window out of a soda bottle as the car doesn't have that much of a curve to the back glass. However, I want other opinions, what do you think?

Anyway, since AMT has started cloning molds like with the Nova Wagon, I'd like to see a 59 Pontiac

Believe me, I hate to have something unfinished as well. I just feel burned out from working on the same thing for so long. I want to work on something else that requires much less work and hopefully that dopamine rush from finishing that will lead me to finish the Beetle

The taillights as well as the dash have been glued onto the body. I began to assemble the chassis more and I cut out a windshield out of a Dr. Thunder bottle, albeit not glued in yet. Honestly, I feel myself getting tired of this project so for the time being, I think I will put this one on the back burner, work on something else and wait until the muses inspire me to finish this.

Huh, I wonder where those toolings went. Are those die-cast or plastic?

I know it would NEVER happen but something I'd like to see (Even in a promo style) is an original Dodge/Plymouth Neon.

Could this kit be salvaged with a modified '58 Impala chassis? Or, doing a little research, it seems that many of these Caddy's have gotten more conventional frames, a modified '57 Chevy frame or something like that?

I can feel this thing getting closer to completion, or at least not having to work on the model itself and I can instead shift my focus to the top. Anyway, the Body, Dash, Steering Column, things that allow you to slip the body over the Chassis, taillights, etc. have been cleared, finally. I also started assembling the chassis. (I don't know where the pedals went but at the same time, the hole that they would have fit into on the tunnel seemingly disappeared when I put down the carpet so I'm not terribly concerned)

I was able to put some clear on the seats. I used Quick-Shine instead of the Tamiya Semi-Gloss that I had intended to use. One thing I like about Quick-Shine is that it gives some shine but not too much, good (at least in my opinion) for interiors.

Something I'd like to see is a 1998-2002 Firebird/Formula. I just think its a more beautiful car without the dual nostril hood.

The idea was to get uber-thin foil backed by an adhesive but you do bring up good points against using the cigarette foil. As I mentioned, I never had success in separating it. The question was more so if it was possible as opposed to a serious proposition.

Important thing out of the way first, I don't smoke. I was able to get some (empty!) boxes from one of my brother's co-workers. I have read about using the foil to replicate things like insulation and stuff like that but what I would like to know is if it's possible to remove the foil from the paper backing. Simply trying to peel the foil off hasn't worked, nor has kissing it with a flame, so I'm at a loss on that. Other things that have a foil coating like the wrapper from some gums that can simply be peeled off. What do you think?

While I'm aware that AMT made a 2-door Blazer, that was the pre-facelift style and also hasn't been issued in over 20 years. What I'd like to see is a 2 door Blazer with the facelifted front and interior. (Does Round 2 have the Blazer tooling?)

Another weekend down and while I admittingly didn't get as much done as I would have liked to, I still got something accomplished. I filed down the edges on the kit seats to make them look less like fiberglass dune buggy seats. I also added squares of styrene to look like vinyl padding. I'll eventually add clear over them to give some shine.

Would it be possible for this thread to be renamed from "AMT Superbug 'Gasser'" to "AMT Superbug 'Jolly'"? I think the cat's been out of the bag for long enough that there's no need to hide anything. Thanks
