Greg, I often find the kit number is molded into the sprue . This is 2237 which comes up as Monogram’s 1953 Chevy. I couldn’t find any pictures of the contents of the kit to be sure but it looks like a possibility.

For some things I like to use the Tamiya wash but it has its limitations as you can’t use it on everything. More often then not I go back to the old standby of thinned Testors paint.
