Procedure is hardly what I’d call professional, I’m lucky if I can point the airbrush in the right direction (oh man, in the eyes again)

Again I had to wet sand the paint and spray all over again, where does this dust keep coming from?

I like the look of that pancake hood in the last pic. It goes well with the chop. I guess you need a tool for applying pancake makeup to make it happen. I hope the sprue glue doesn’t take its sweet time in setting up.

Jawohl you can come up with a few more, you’re not giving up that easily on us.

Cool list, I'll have to think on it.

Got some progress on the Galaxie this week. Fundamentally had to mold some parts for the old girl. One of the first things was to make a bench seat for the car. The kit/promo comes with buckets and a console. Jimmy didn't have that much style, he had bench, which could have gotten him into trouble. Took the rear seat and made a cast of the front side of it. Once the front side was done I built up the backside with some clay and did another cast. Once molded it was cleaned up, the seat backs separated to allow access to the rear seat and some side trim added. Pic came out a bit blurry but you get the jist of it. Also needed to make some wheel covers. The promo wheels use a large axle with a stub that goes right thru the tire. This is not going to work for us. So we cast some hub caps. They were sprayed with Revell Chrome and then coated with Quick Shine Floor Finish and then some accents with Tamiya Panel Line Black. Finally a dab of Testors Ruby Red for the center emblem. And at long last the weather cooperated and I got the chance to spray the clearcoat on the body. A little bit sanding and polish yet to be done. This paint was a bit of a pain to lay on. Scale Finishes 1967 Ford Burnt Amber, the original factory color. I got a couple of nubs on the roof and trunk which when wet sanded turned to black dots and the surrounding area got lighter. It's because it's a metallic finish. Had to respray those sections three times to get rid of the nubs. I was running out of paint but finally succeeded. Give it a few days then we can rub her out. That's all for now. I'm off to go fight with a Duster.🙄

Rustoleum is on my 💩 list these days but I have to say the bumpers look pretty good. Can you handle them much? Did you spray anything over them or is that straight out of the can. I just did some wheel covers with the Revell chrome and it rubbed off pressing them into the tires. Went over it with floor polish and they were fine but lost a little luster. Which was ok for wheel covers.

Interesting idea for the hood hinge. Looks wicked open. I don’t know if it’s possible to move the pivot point forward, that might help it clear the grill. If it makes you feel any better the 49’s had a terrible hinge design. Could never get then to open evenly on my friends car. Hood would always bind on the passenger side.
