Written on the walls of the Pharaoh’s tomb was the very first Flintstone’s cartoon.

Nice looking Fury Steve, I have a couple of 1966 Fury's I want to get to some day. As for the Desoto it doesn't have an engine compartment at this point so I guess that's on the agenda also.

Contract with Capital Records wasn't the only thing Hoboken got him, if you know what I mean, wink, wink.

OK, think I'm in drive again and moving forward.

Not only was the bear dogging me on my Vette project it followed me over to the Duster as well. Working on getting the slant six nestled into place and ran into an issue I didn't anticipate. I guess if I did it wouldn't be an issue them, would it? A wise man one said we create our own issues. Anyhow, I found out that the cooling fan on the slant six is slightly offset to the drivers side (not going to say left to confuse anyone). As the fan needs to tuck inside the shroud, that just isn't going to happen. I guess I cheated on this fix. To do it properly I should have removed the shroud but that wasn't feasible the way it was molded on the radiator. Or I could ditch the radiator and find another sans shroud of the same size. No luck with that at Auto Zone. You see on the real car there was no shroud and thus no shroud to interfere with the fan. But I tackled this by doing something Plymouth didn't think of, (yeah, I suppose you could say that), I moved the radiator. The radiator and shroud are part of the core support. So I cut off the 'wings' of the core support, shortened the left side and added a spacer to the right. This put the shroud where it belonged, according to me that is. Now we can get the engine in place. And we'll have a cooler slant 6 thanks to the shroud.😁 Hopefully we can continue on this forward path and by next time we have some rolling stock under this 'ol gal.

Some days you get the bear and some days it gets you. Lately with my projects I feel like the bear is nipping at my heels. Start to make some progress only to get knocked back down a rung or two. Thought I was getting ready to drop the V8 into the chassis on this Vette and that's when the bear bit down. Had a nice engine all ready to go,wired, heater hoses, looking like it might actually run and then wham. The exhaust manifolds don't fit between the frame rails. And the engine won't drop into place. You can see a good quarter inch gap between the block and the frame mounts. Ditched the manifolds and found a set of headers that looks like they might work with a bit of modification, but no dice. Still couldn't get things to fit. You know how it goes, measure twice.... So back to square one, well for the engine at least. Dug into the parts box and pulled out the original 283 that goes along with the '57 Vette chassis we have under this bod, or at least eventually under this bod. Keeping the same theme, dual 4-barrels. This time I painted the engine with the same paint as the body. Chrysler Orange on a Vette, inside and out. Yeah, why not....😈 OK, so the moment of truth, will it fit. In like flint!!! Can even get the exhaust routed with plenty of room to spare. Why didn't I do this in the first place??? Because I wanted more horsepower. Well that horsepower don't do you any good if you can't squeeze it in. I think we will even be able to close the hood as well. Hopefully from this point forward, we can move forward. Hey, can any of you Corvette aficionados out there tell me if this engine should have the shield over the distributor? Pics on line seem to show later cars with them but not this era. I don't want any interference messing with my tunes. The 8-tract doesn't work so I have to listen to WABeatleC/

Had I known then what I know now I would have skipped half of those “babes” and gone straight to the finish line.

I ran into a similar problem with my Vette, taking me a lot of backtracking to get things going forward again.

Thanks Dennis but I can’t take credit for the design enhancements, Pure Vision gets the credit for that. But the subtle changes do make a big difference. Glad you like it David. Just hoping I can carry out the rest of the build without something going sideways.

All you need is a can of fix-a-flat in the glove box, nobody gives you a spare tire anymore 🛞 you needed the extra trunk space anyway for when you go to Ollie’s But seriously, nice save on the crowded posterior, sometimes you need to walk away from something so you can see it in the right light 👍
