I'm looking at rebuilding this Desoto and thinking about upgrading it with a better chassis. This one is as basic as it gets. For options I'm aware of the AMT 1957 Chrysler 300 and 1957 Plymouth Fury and thinking about using one of them. Have to actually check the wheelbase on them. Does anyone have any advice as to which one would be better or is there another option that I'm overlooking. Thanks.

Morse code uses short and long signals, called dots and dashes, to represent letters and numbers.

I suppose I should have posted this for the trim guide. I initially tried to fix the Revell trim with this method but as the trim was irregular in shape and thickness it didn't work too well. What I did here which worked like a charm was first to sand the trim down to the proper thickness but leave the edges straight. That left a good even surface for the scriber. After scribing the seam I then rounded off the outer edges. As for the Galaxie I'm currently trying to make a resin mold of the back seat so I can make a copy to turn into a front bench.

Local radio station started playing Christmas music the 1st of November. Wrangler listen to it, way too early. Think they are trying to cut operating costs as the mid day DJ is mia as well.

My dogs have cornered them, live ones, in the yard and naturally it played possum. But they didn’t try to attack or get too close. But they will definitely roll around in any dead smell lying around💩

I have a neighbor that goes completely overboard for Halloween, starts out the first week of September. Still has some of the decorations up now. Does nothing whatsoever for Christmas even though they are very religious.

Thanks guys, it's coming along. Now after this I just have the whole rest of the car to get built.😨

Thanks boss, you have a good Thanksgiving too. Gee, a day off, what am I going to do with myself. Maybe I'll go up into the attic and get out the Arc of the Covenant, dust it off and do a little light reading.🤔

And here is where we are so far. I think the extra work was worth it. And this is the distance we've traveled.

I like your choice, I have so many bugs in my stash but I think the only one I ever built was a 1/16th years ago with a Rolls grill.I’ll be watching.

Thanks John, appreciate it. Glen, it’s not the model that got me, it was a ratchet strap with teeth😬

Thank Carl, I saw your request. I have two other builders in the attic. I know I need bumpers for one. Don’t know what my hood status is, I’ll have to take a look.

You can say they are barking up the wrong tree on this forum.

There has been some headway made on Jimmy's Galaxie, although it might fall into the category of one step forward, two back. I had some good weather and I was anxious to get some paint on the body but I probably should have waited. Not that anything went wrong with the paint mind you. I started mocking up the car and realized AMT did a rather silly thing with this car. The have the front hood molding molded as part of the front grill. (say that 3 times fast) For the promo I guess they can be forgiven as the hood doesn't open, but for the kit, sorry but that's a Bozo NoNo.. So despite the hood being painted I needed to do some additional work on it. I took some strip styrene and made a hood molding. Then with the molding on the hood, I removed it from the front bumper assy. Here we have paint on the hood again and my fingers trying to keep everything held together for a quick look-see. I think I am going to do some further work on the bumper unit and open up some of the other cavities like the bumper next to the parking lights. I bet you didn't even see those in there did you? A bit of work has progressed on the chassis as well. With and without the interior in place. There are still things I like to do the old fashioned way. A lot of the bits on the chassis I hand paint with good old Testors, and yes, my jars are old. Can't really tell in the pics but there are 4 or 5 different shades of black at work here. Need to find the rear end next. I'm sure it has highway gears.🥱 And I'll leave you with a pic of the painted body, dust flakes and all. Need to get it clearcoated next and then, Happy Happy Joy Joy, BMF time....

Well Jim, I think there were some extenuating circumstances involved with this one. This promo was in a flood, in fact maybe a California mud slide might be more accurate. There was a lot of dirt in the nooks and crannies, especially under the back seat. I actually spent some time polishing the 'glass' and got it a lot better but I don't think I'm going to use it. Have a spare windshield from a 66 that fits perfect. Just need to find something for the rear. Would like to do side windows also. I'm a glutton for punishment 😫
