  1. It's a hardtop now. Looks so much better. Had to clean my bench, and put up some more paint storage, but managed to put in a bit of bodywork. There was a nice line of flash down the peak of both rear fenders, I don't want to roll that over. There's a few low spots, but it's looking good. Did a bit of scribing around the doors and tried to get a little depth on the trim.
  2. Being a welder, I grabbed a few sticks of .050-.060 aluminum tig rod to use as a mockup and get angles correct. I could probably epoxy that together and save some work. It's dead soft and bends super easy. Just another option for you.
  3. I've done similar, plastic bag, tape and a clamp. Got my buddies old dodge home without Nuking the engine.
  4. Would this apply, or does the age of the kits rule this out?
  5. http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/231517-older-monogram-revell-kit-glue-problems/
  6. Too bad, the first was a interesting take on the joker, especially after Jared Leto's mess of the character
  7. About 2 years ago I had to "rescue" a raccoon from my dumpster. My driveway is about 400 feet downhill from the house. That morning I stopped to throw a bag out, opened the lid and it was trapped in the empty dumpster. Grabbed a decently long branch off the ground and gave it a way out. Must have been interesting for the raccoon, it was for me. The joys of living in the woods. We haven't seen any Possums
  8. Do you think it would be possible to use water slide decal paper and print/have printed your own reflective stripe. You would have to scale it down, or find a paper that looks close to what you need. I've used that on paint jobs for custom motorcycles I've built in the past. Just a thought.
  9. So we've all been there, 6pm on a Sunday in the middle of something and Murphy shows up and throws his hand in the mix. My glasses snapped in half (the flexible Bridge over the nose). Thought about possibly silver soldering them, but working blind and unsure of the metallurgy I came up with this. A few pieces of stainless wire, some heat shrink and c.a. glue. A bit of file work and 20 minutes later, fit perfect and will get me through the holiday weekend till I can get some replacements. Anyone else have a MacGyver story they want to share?
  10. Welcome Dave, nice weathering work. The broken widows look really good.
  11. Absolutely awesome machine, in every definition. Well before "my time", but we don't build things like this anymore. These were built to work, brute force hammer simple get the job done. Beautiful machines, shame that most are gone now.
  12. So a little update on this, my wife happened to show me a Facebook post of a black bear spotted about 3/4 mile away. Thankfully not a giant sloth.(joke) I live in one of those areas where I'm in the woods( my own private paradise) yet I'm 2 minutes from civilization. All of the deer we have around usually just empty the feeders out, not damage them. This was a 3/4 inch steel shepherd's hook. all in all, first time in seven years yogi decided to visit, I'm more concerned for my dogs as harley is trained off leash. That's a possible situation I would not care to take part in. As me and my wife say "it always an adventure". Thanks for commenting everyone, it's been fun reading all the responses.
  13. If that's the case, I'll put this place on the market and be gone. Lol
  14. This morning one of my old lady's bird feeders was bent over pulled to the ground, and both my dogs are extremely curious of that spot. Hope there isn't a bear hanging around.
  15. One of the machinist I watch on YouTube did a video where he visited this. Abom79. Absolutely massive machines, he pointed out that the hills around the area are actually the tailings piles.
  16. Very nice. White interiors always "pop". Can't wait to see this finished
  17. That's true, and especially hot rod (being a business and all) but to me and probably a few others that particular car is/was "special". When I seen that, it was as if they cut up elvis's cadillac, or burned the two lane blacktop car if it even still exist. I'm intrigued with the performance capabilities/ potential of e.v.'s, just think sometimes certain things should be left alone.
  18. I'm always on the hunt for a deal. Nice score
  19. Thank you once again. I've been paying attention to your build, kinda gives me a heads up on potential issues I may find. Your gto is looking really good, the detail on the engine looks perfect.
  20. I agree. While I've seen some electric conversions that were cool from a performance standpoint, this car is hot rod royalty, and they jumped on a bandwagon when they did that.
  21. That's the plan, I'm looking into exactly what's involved. I don't want this to look hacked up.
  22. If one person says you're a (noun of your choice, insult, ect) it's an opinion, if 100 say it, it's probably a fact.
