Absolutely, one of the first things I did getting back into the hobby was start the junkyard. That miscellaneous piece or part could be just what you need.

What did you see on the road today?

That's different -
Looks great, hopefully you come across the shifter. I think your father would be happy with the revival, or maybe you're in some trouble for going near his models. Lol.

All I know is it sounded good, and I seen the class he runs on the window. There's a few older guys with pretty fast old street cars in that area, I see them often in the summer -
What Scared the Heck Outta You Today

Sounds like you share the same traffic engineers as upstate NY. Here's a screen shot of 5 within 3/4 or so of a mile. -

What to build?
johnyrotten replied to Jordan White's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My collection is a mixed bag of both. Mind you I have only sought out 2-3 with an actual "build" in mind. A couple were picked up just to try some resin casting for various pieces, until I learned what I was looking for is available with 3d print. My current project is box stock with the exception of wheels/tires, kinda a day two build. Just built as clean and nice as i can get it. I'm less than a year back in the hobby, it's been a fun learning curve. -
I had a similar experience, tuning my motorcycle. First off the kid didn't understand the difference between a non-resistor plug and standard one. Then he was confused as to why I needed a dozen for a twin motorcycle, I briefly explained what a "plug chop" was and was on my way. I guess one year at votech makes you an expert in things mechanical now. And to think I've spent a life so far working and learning. Who would have known.

Removing MCW paint ?
johnyrotten replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I may be wrong, but the wax paper might have caused your issue. Painting, at least to me, almost seems to have a mind of its own at times. One time you lay down a "perfect" coat, the next Murphy shows up and well, you know. At time it's almost alchemy. I've decided to mess with craft paints on my current project, that was a learning curve. -
This is awesome. I'll be paying attention. I like the whole concept, and that's a clean looking corvette

Removing MCW paint ?
johnyrotten replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Sounds to me like the primer never bonded to the surface. Sanding too fine MAY cause that, as well as contamination from oils, hands ect. MCW is nice stuff, so I'm with you thinking it's a prep issue. Looking forward to what you find out. Good luck. -
So Murphy popped up in my garage this morning, winterizing the motorcycles for the winter. Got back from a ride and what do I hear, a faint knock. At least I have a spare engine, good compression but I've never heard it actually run, so guess I'll have some fun this winter.

Fantastic paint work, and the work on the dash really looks great.

Today I noticed the identical hobby knife and blades in two different sections, two different prices. Just a heads up for everyone

Been there, done that. Home inspector missed live knob and tube. Gets expensive fast.

I've got the same set. This post made me check mine as I haven't used them yet, sure enough only 2-3 sizes are marked.

What Scared the Heck Outta You Today

Best move you could have made, especially with your brakes. Most important system on any vehicle, besides an alert, competent operator. Rust never sleeps. Hopefully the mechanic looks over ALL the lines under that truck. -
Thank you. By the time it was thinned enough to spray I was basically spraying the metallic, the pigments seem to be very translucent.
