  1. Fun fact - that strip club that they used for the interior scenes in the Bada Bing got closed down for a while last year.... ...because of mob-related activities This should be a cool build! As a big Sopranos fan I'll be watching! Shame there weren't more cool cars in the show; probably Livia's old Impala and Johnny Sack's Maserati were the two coolest
  2. I remember that one! I'd also like to see an early Miata built by you, if you're taking requests (which you weren't :D)
  3. Spent a while trying to find the perfect blue for this - I wanted something a bit deeper than the standard 'Ford Dark Blue' - I tried a few concotions with the airbrush paints I had around here but they weren't quite right. My wife wanted to run to CVS last night though, and I spotted this...perfect! I misted it on nice and light for the first couple of coats, to make sure I wasn't going to have any crazing or weird issues...seemed ok! And after seven or eight coats (with some wetsanding in-between) we've got a blue body! I tried to keep the pressure low on the airbrush to stop that graining that you get when you shoot it, and it mostly worked - its a little lumpy in a couple of spots (and almost completely flat in finish from adding the thinner) but I'm going to let it harden, wet sand it back once more and then hit it with some clear! More soon!
  4. Got some primer on the body today - I've been looking forward to this bit! Just a couple of spots that need some work, but it's ready for another coat and then hopefully paint!
  5. STUNNING! I've really enjoyed following along with this Alex, as I always do with your projects! Beautiful work!
  6. I never saw it, but maybe! I assumed years of working in a dirty smelly Brooklyn dive-bar just pickled his English somewhat I'm having enough trouble figuring out the Italian-American-English that they all speak in our new neighborhood
  7. Hopefully not a bunch of old sprue re-shrinkwrapped in the original kit box
  8. But "I snooked up on him" sounds weird A conversation in my local bar recently: Bartender: "Did you hear about Joey? He drank and driv' and got caught" Customer: "He did whaaa?" Bartender: "He DRANK, then he DRAVE!" ?? (Just trying to get conversation loosely back to cars here )
  9. Same for me - not sure if it's a Fotki issue or a forum issue...although they always display ok when I post them on other sites so who knows. They're showing for me now anyway!
  10. Drilled out the moulded-in bolt on the oilpan and replaced it with one from a model railroad bolt set (complete with rubber seal): The lower front of the engine is mostly hidden when it's installed, but I added the bolt detail that the kit misses anyway...plus some PE bolt heads to hold the pulleys on: Still plenty to go, but its starting to look like an engine! Need to tighten those head bolts to squash that gasket down a little More soon, soon as I've done more!
  11. Thanks Dennis! A little update, seeing as I'm getting some stuff one on this... Got the engine painted, having ground off that lower hose that runs to the rad and scratchbuilt another. I made some rubber hose end-pieces and used the smallest diameter solder I could find to make some hose clamps (see Mchook's pic of a 1:1 above to see roughly what I was aiming for...) Got the head detailed with PE bolts and installed (with gasket between it and the block):
  12. That looks really cool!
  13. I always enjoy seeing your work Alex, and would like to see it more regularly ??? Super clean and nicely done build as always - I like the interior and that color is great!
  14. This was a fun build! Mostly box stock, except for a drop on the front, some extra detail on the engine and the omission of a couple of parts to make it look a little less fussy! Paint is Createx red, silver and pearl blue, I wired the engine and added some photoetched detail and made that blower belt with Washi tape. Thanks for looking!
  15. A little more on this one...I wasn't super happy with the chrome on the headers/exhaust system, but I really didn't want to strip it and rechrome it and have just that one piece be a different shade of chrome to the other bits... So, I gave 'em some header wrap! I know you'd normally wrap the ENTIRE header, but I figured at least it adds a little detail and distracts from some of the lumpy chrome anyway... Then, flocked the floor, messed with the shifter a little and got the assembly on the cab started... Starting to look like a thing now! Just need to add all the remaining little doodads and whatsits and I can call this one done!
  16. This is stunning! So, with the wet look clear you’re just laying down multiple mist coats? Or most coats and then a thicker coat? I’d be interested to know your process - your paint looks GREAT!! ?
  17. I really like that Depot Hack Hot rodded T on those instructions! I’d build the green box-art version too though, I like that kit
  18. ...or give it an 18 inch or so drop ?
  19. I gave the interior panels a coat of Createx dark blue and then gave them a wash to give them some depth, and shot them with some hairspray for a semi-gloss kinda leathery look: And it's starting to look like a thing! Just need to assemble the cab and add all the doodads and it's pretty much there! More soon, soon as I've done more!
  20. I didn't want to try and stick the decals on those chrome side panels that you're meant to put them on - there's no way they WOULDN'T look bad, I didn't think - so I decided to put them on the side panels underneath the tank: I'll need to modify the chrome rail now, but I'd rather do that than have foggy decal-edge over a chrome panel anyway...here they are, still wet: And I hacked up the original decal's 'NO SMOKING' signs... ...to make these for the back of the tank...this vehicle DEFINITELY stops for burnouts A little clearcoat and they looked pretty good!
  21. That yellow is nice - what brand is that?
  22. That’s really cool! They’re awesome!
  23. Wow, that’s a lotta wheels! Do you have them manufacturered, or you just bought a lot?
