  1. Thanx Terry, I spent most of the morning retrieving my build pics, don't know what happened at photobucket. All the Viper pics on this, and another site just vanished last night. All of my others are fine, just the Viper. It wasn't a great kit, so I guess it just kept wanting to fight me, even after it was built! Good job on the Hooters car Tony!

    Viper

Her's my Viper. Citadel Bolt Gun, Polly Scale Reefer White stripes. Future gloss. Front end and hood are a lousy fit. Not a great kit.
  7. Finished it up last night. The body to frame fit is lousy, and once it's on...it's on! Front end sits way too high, and there's a terrible gap between the front deck and dash. It's done, I'll never build one again. All pics under glass.
  8. So I glued it together, sanded it smooth, covered with foil, got the trusty Daffy hair dryer and tried melting a piece of thin plastic over it. It turned out pretty close.
  9. The rats looking good Chuck. Been a cool thread, lots of nice builds going on. Well, the Viper turned out to be a not so great kit. Here's how it finished up. The plenum I brushed Alclad for the clamps, foil was a pain. Then got paint under the headlight lens, tried to pry it off to fix and snapped it in half.
  10. The Birds lookin crazy smooth Greg, very nice work! Your Maro is coming along nicely Shawn, love the body mods! Did finally get the body glossed. I redid the gunmetal and stripes with Citadel Boltgun, and Polyscale Reefer white. Both paints are nice to work with, although the polyscale stuff mixed with distilled water seemed to crack, but it sprayed good. The Citadel layed down real good. Think I'll be using it more in the future...speaking of future...that's what I cleared with. After taking the pics, I'm gonna make some inserts for my paint booth to take pics. Just can't get enough light off of florescent bulbs. 11. Oh, and these. The bagged kits are the old Indy hall of fame models, the Rutherford car just hit the floor and needs put back together. I believe there's a P-40 and a 109 in the stash I've started too. I'm mainly concentrating on the Viper and Cutlass right now.
  12. I'll join in, haven't had a whole lot of time to build over the summer. Here's a few I have going right now. The Viper is the only one I've really messed with lately. Citadel Boltgun metal, Polyscale Reefer white stripes. Gonna try to get the Cutlass done before the end of the year for a project build.
  13. I'll throw my Hot Wheel in. It's been posted Under Glass. From the Bone Shaker to a Rat. Stripped telephone cable for wire, ground the front end. Made an intake and breather from plastic sheets. Whittled the block into shape. Painted with red primer, water soaked, sprinkled salt, flat black, sanded. The hubcaps are thumbtacks. Fun little build.
  14. A quick redo. Started with a Pepto pink Bug. Plugged the wheel holes with poster tack and chromed. Did the frame flat black, silver and steel. Masked and chromed the bumpers and headlights. Painted the interior the body color, with black and silver details. Tried a gold base, clear red on the body. cleared with a couple coats of Future floor wax. Painted silver on the handles and window trim. My first try with the color and I like the result. I'll use that on a model in the future, for sure! Made a tiny Ohio plate with my printer. The window dropped a bit in the pics, wish I would've caught it but It's not noticeable in person. A fun little slump buster!
  15. Just a quick little project. Started with a Pepto pink VW. Soaked it in a lacquer bath, the paint was tougher than the Rat Rod I did, probably cause its allot older. Some sanding and wire brushing took care of that. Flat blacked the frame, stuffed poster tack in the wheel holes and chromed. Painted silver and steel on the rest. The interior was done the same color as the body, picked out a few details with black and silver...cant really see it in the car. Wanted to try a gold base, clear red over top combo I've seen done on other builds...I like it. I'll use this on a future model. Masked and chromed the headlights and bumpers with Alclad. painted silver on the handles and window trim. The window looks like it dropped a bit in the pics, wish I caught that before I took the pics, but it looks OK to the naked eye. Finished it off with an Ohio plate I made with my printer. My little Bug is done! I found redoing Hot Wheels to be a nice little slump buster. I'll post the rest of the picks Under Glass. Now, back to the Viper!
  16. Bingo! That's the word I was looking for!
  17. Sorry, grinded...my bad!
  18. This was my first time redoing a 1/64 Hot Wheel. Did it for a project a while back. First I took the Bone Shaker, grinned the front, the engine, and a little from the body. Made the top, and rear deck with aluminum sheets. Made valve covers, intake, grill case, and breather from plastic card stock. The pipes were made with solder...that was a pain. Wires are individual telephone wire strands, painted. Body was stripped, and given the salt weathering treatment I learned from the military guys. The moons are thumbtacks grinned and smoothed out. Stuck them on with poster tac. It was a fun little build, may redo another Hot Wheel sometime.
  19. Yes, a very nice build.

    My dads 57

Thank you. Yea, my Dad likes it very well, and the glossed primer surprised me too. 409, thanx, it's the old 1/25 scale kit. The molds are very wore out, lots of work to get it to look decent.
  21. Gonna be a good build. Can't go wrong with anything A.J. Nice reference material.
  22. Good to see you here Joe. The Chevy's coming along very well. Your work always amazes me!
  23. Thanx all for the warm welcome! Pretty cool to see some folks from my neck of the woods, and a few other familiar builders here. Good stuff!

    My dads 57

This is my first model on this site. I built this for my father several years back for his b-day. It's my take on his first new car. Except for the hubcaps, all re chromed with alclad, and bare metal foil. First try at detailing the engine bay a little. Tried the wires, scratched the coil, and plumbed the master cylinder, wired the battery. Body is primer, glossed with future, top is airbrushed testors white. And white walls hand painted acryl. I'm sure whoever here who has built this old amt kit knows the fit issues, I had them all! Anyway, he loved it, still has it sitting up in their living room.
  25. Thanx guys. Hi Sean, I'm about 10 miles, straight down 75, south of Dayton in Miamisburg.
