The 2022 Cannonball Run Year of Birth Build Thread
tim08 replied to disconovaman's topic in Community Builds
Outstanding builds going on here. I've got a little bit done on the impala. Been trying to get the Peking to Paris Plymouth done. Between family, work, and work on the house, gonna try to cram to get this one done. Good job guys! -
Yea, I broke the bumper bracket off. Lost it. I'll try to make another out of something. Broke one of the front ones too but still have it. Clumsy!

That 3d printing is amazing stuff. Hope to try it out one of these days. Got a little bit done on the Plymouth. Wired the engine best I could Tried some of this milliput stiff to fashion some sleeping bags. First time I've used it. I think they're a little big, may try to make some smaller. Made a lip for the trunk lid and got some paint on the interior, covered the holes in the hood, didn't like that. And semi glossed the tarp, may try to weather it up a bit later. Filled in that little trunk with some evergreen, I'll flock that up. Trying some new things on this. Here's kind of what I'm going for, I'll get back at it when I can

Sorry guys. Messed up on posting.

Great work on the Green Hornet Howard! Looks like you're packed and ready to roll! Love it! Great job on the luggage Erik, the Capri is coming along nicely! I need to figure some stuff like that to throw in my ride. Nice work going on here guys! Thanx Pat for giving me the inspiration to start cutting. My first time at trying this. Worked on the hood. drilled some holes and used some small wire to figure out some hooks for some tie down straps. I'll get back to that. Wrapped the same wire around the trunk lid to try to simulate skeleton for a tarp. Wrapped a few slices of aluminum foil, and painted flat black. May try to clean it up a bit later. It does look pretty cool like that

Very nice work Pete. I haven't drummed up the guts to cut doors and trunk lids open yet. This is a bit of inspiration to maybe try on the Plymouth. This is kind of the direction I'm going at the moment. Gonna go with some thinner tires for the spares and fashion some kind of rack for the roof. Got the steelies out of a 57 Ford kit. Did the letters on the tires with a sharpie paint pen a while back, was experimenting so figured why not use them now? Need to set the rear up a bit for the trip. Trying a few more new things on this. Panel line wash and assembling a little before paint. See how it goes.

I'm in southwest Ohio. This started last night as rain, then ice until about 3:00 this afternoon. Got us off of work today and tomorrow. Now the snow is falling pretty steady here. Our back yard. https://i.postimg.cc/HL2W Out front Winds starting to pick up now. Got food milk and beer. We're cool!

I like it. A Hellcat Hatchback -
Picked these up a little while back. The 1/48 White will go good with my military stuff. Some decal paper, light gray panel line wash, and a new pin vise. Gonna try the candy red on something.

I'm gonna throw my hat in with this. Along with the Plymouth in the Peking to Paris build. I figure I have a year to build, why not try. Was debating to go with the Nova wagon, but to go across the country I think this would be a little more comfortable to drive. Plus it's just about as roomy as the wagon. and more power. -

Hate to see that landman. I always seem to have trouble with paint the first few shots at it. -
Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!

That box is pretty cool Pete. I need to make some stuff for my Plymouth. Love that Capri Eric. The cars got a little bit small for me back then. But they were pretty cool looking. I'd love to find one of those kits.

Yea, he can be a ham every now and then. Especially at breakfast time... "Ahhh, give me some hash brown" He's a cool dude. Thanx!

I always told my family I never wanted a cat. Then our youngest daughter brought this guy home several years back. Max, He's my buddy now.

I'd like to join in with this beast. Don't have anything on hand right now for the year of birth build so I figured why not try this rally. Been doing some research and it really looks like a cool adventure. I think my wife and I could keep this thing running for about 8k miles. I don't really have much of a space to build right now because of remods going on in our new house, I'll make do with what I got at the moment. Got this out a while ago and started on the front end. Puttied around the grill piece and started replacing the little ribs on the fenders with stretched sprue. Pics aren't great right now, but I'll get everything straight as I go along. anyway, here's what is done so far. I need find some better tires and wheels for the long haul.

If I can round up a 1963 kit, I'd like to join in. I have a few ideas. -
I used the turtle wax clean cut rubbing compound on the camaro body I'm working on right now...looked a little like that... Takes a little elbow grease to rub it out, but it looks pretty good.
