2023 Cannonball Run-What-You-Brung Build Thread
tim08 replied to White Rabbit's topic in Community Builds
I'll trow my hat in on this one. I'll go with the beefed up version of this one. Really diggin these group builds. -
Found this at my parents house on Thanksgiving day. They bought me the whole set back then. The set is long gone but this engine has been bouncing around the house for all those years. Shes pretty beat up, but brings back fond memories.

Installed Interior done Got it on its tires. Used the blackwall sid and used panel line wash on the wheels. Kind of gives it more of a sleeper look. Final color. Gonna try to get it done before the end of the month. -

Been trying to get the impala done. Was trying to figure out something to dress this blob of a carb up. So I got these springs out of old throw away oil seals we use at work. Cut, stretched, stuck to the side. I figured the carb is going to be covered with the cleaner anyway. -
Thanks guys, it was a fun build.

Oh, cut thin strips of electrical tape for the seat belts and spare tire straps. Decals with my printer.

Finally was able to get some decent pics of my p to p entry. Wired the engine with thin steel wire painted black. Tires painted with a white paint pen. Steelies from the 40 ford kit. Cooler is scratched from evergreen stock, sleeping bag and duffle bag are milliput. Fire extinguisher is from the 63 impala. Shovel and ax are diorama stuff. Tool box is from the 72 chevy wedge kit. Bent some styrene trees for the roll bar. Paint is rustoleum spray. Not a bad kit at all for the age of it. They took care of the molds for sure. I thing this is the first community build I've ever finished on time. Was allot of fun.

Beautiful poncho, what a beast!

I'm liking this allot. Me and a friend used to take his sisters 72 out and jam to some black sabbath and others on the 8 track player. Loved that car.

Welcome from Miamisburg, bout ten miles south of Dayton. All good builders and info here. Have fun!

Wow, now that I look again, I need to control my closeups a little better. My camera picked up every speck of dust!
-
Thanx guys. It was allot of fun. When I was researching the rally these older cars really caught my attention, and I had the right kit in the stash.

Done. We're ready to go. Stock engine Seat belts, cooler, duffle bag, and extinguisher, roll bar. Maybe a few pieces of hardware under the seat for safety. Spare strapped on. Trunk packed. the sleeping bags and duffel bag is milliput. Gas can, battery, shovel and axe are from some hobby sets. Tool box from the 72 chev wedge truck. Printed the plates, covered with clear tape. Cut and mounted. If we make it out of china and Russia with these Ohio plates, we'll see you all in Paris!
-
Well, got the chassis and interior work done. Just got to finish up some body work and we'll be ready to go.
-
Boy I like the wheels and tires you put under that Ace, gives it a beefier look. I'm getting closer to getting this done. Most all the parts. Throwing stuff in to see where I'm at got the cooler and extinguisher in. Making some duffle bags. Gotta still make mud flaps, seat belts, and numbers. Then we should be ready to go.

The 7 turned out great Brian! I had to fab my cooler out of evergreen sheet, couldn't find one anywhere. I got some things done on the Plymouth. Flocked the trunk floor. Blacked the dash then just scraped it and used a silver pen. Did it at the shop so I kind of had to rush it. Fixed the bumper brace with plastic strips This is where it was about a month ago Got more done where it can start pulling everything together. I'll get pics up in a bit
