As a big fan of C.W. McCall, I approve. Wonder if he tried to compete for Mavis Davis' love with ol' C-Dubya. -
Another I am picking up from the top secret honey hole. Since this kit was tooled as an early '63 and I wanted a rare color scheme, I went with Avanti Silver-grey Iridescent over an elk tan & black 2-tone interior or a 2-tone red/black, whichever is rarest, unless 2-tone black & fawn interior with burnt orange seats is rarer still in said body color. Updates Monday afternoon or evening

Just opened the box. This is going to be a pure street stock Shelby 289 slabsider in factory silver with body color frame/suspension, black floors/trunk mat & inner body, battery relocated to trunk, red "Connolly hides" on door cards, dash and seats, all stock equipment or available stuff from Shelby-American, red detachable half tonneau, and more. Updates start Monday afternoon

From little boxes of scrap early Ford & big rig bits, do mighty working rigs grow. This was a bit of everything under the sun as far as my spare parts collection goes, and sprayed Komatsu Yellow rattlecan. Sadly it was broken and parts scattered. I am going to build another someday, probably a 1/20 Gabriel cast iron one.

What are you looking for in trade?

Built mostly out of the box except for the mechanical fuel injection, Gambler sprint car steering gear, front wheel/tire/brake, rear rims, stereo, and some decals and hand painting. Tried to try for a psychedelic show trike theme with the Victorian hansom cab-styled body and steering wheel instead of handlebars.

was given an incomplete toy VW at a VW show & shine/swapmeet. The modifications were right up my alley, but lots of parts are missing, a bad paint job covered the stock iridescent light blue paint and I stripped it. Filled/deleted running boards lie under the currently drying Glidden matte black paint, door panels made from scrap styrene with lightening holes will be used & painted silver, a narrowed NASCAR dash face will be used with a Moon tank in the frunk, interior will be made to look like rat rod material with a '40 Ford bench seat, stripped rear seat area, headliner and inside package tray will be made the same way as the door cards and frunk floor, glass will be cut from scrap plastic and Tacky Glued to install, a parts bin 1957 Corvette steering wheel will be used inside, gauges detailed, extra gauges in the engine compartment, and maybe some custom decal graphics and definitely an old pre-EU German plate. Engine, exhaust, etc. are OK, but parts bin drag tires and Halibrand wheels will be used on cut bamboo skewer stock axles. Long ways to go from here, but it will be a fun little rebuild nonetheless.

Reworked Matchbox '53 Chevy Suburban, the front/rear glass, one front seat, and the dash are all that's inside other than the HO scale farm items inside the back, and it has a basswood veneer wood inner floor.

Started with this rather blah Motormax/Showcasts '69 Dodge Super Bee from Walmart. Thorough interior detailing, weathering the chassis and engine, a light coat of Testors Dullcote on the paint & interior, aged wheels with parts bin tires, and a bit of chrome detail made it outstanding. T

Found this Spec-Cast bank on ebay for cheap. Took it apart and sanded/aged it, added Ed Roth decals and contingency logos, aged it all over/all around, added parts bin tires/wheels/axles, altered the ride height, removed the bumper, and added all kinds of stuff like an 8-track player, floor shift, Bell style race steering wheel, Sun tach on column, and a worn Oregon rear plate

Hi all, I'm planning to get one of these as my first full 3D print build. Have settled on a color scheme of Tamiya candy lime over Tamiya primer with carefully masked/painted black sweeps on the side and a black & tan interior. Any advice on these builds? Cannot afford Revell Chrome and dislike Molotow, so may try Baremetal Foil on the big brightwork parts since my local hobby store has it in the paint aisle and carefully paint/wash the rest. What kind of easily available engine can be doctored up into the stock AMC 327 from the 1/1? Thinking a 1/24 Mopar small block might be an ok start. And for the windows? Guessing to use pop/seltzer bottles or clear deli containers? Also how to get the tires looking right? Good news is I can hand letter the Nash script or just the capital N monogram in the wheel centers with a new ultrafine red Sharpie.

Thanks! In those days the Thunderbird was truly a Lincoln Mark series without the price tag and prestigious name.

AMT/Stevens International '71 Ford Thunderbird. Built mostly out of the box except for underhood details, front wire axle delete and engine plumbing. Paint is Tamiya Light Gun Metal Gloss, with Tamiya Dull Red interior drybrushed with maroon craft acrylics & wood details. I have plans for more of these at other trim levels and color/top/wheel & tire designs as well as possibly a St Tropez convertible conversion at the least.
