House of Kolor Paint, Where do I get it?
Scalefinishes replied to stevehansen's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
The best place I have found to get HOK outside of a local paint shop is TCP global (http://www.tcpglobal.com/HokPaint/). They offer HOK colors in either pre-thinned 2 & 4oz. bottles, or in full strength quarts & gallons. Toped off with great shipping price and speed. Hope this helps. Jameston -
Movin On
Scalefinishes replied to docf225's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Here is what I could come up with using the information from the promo flier on Tims' site and my access to the Dupont computer. Ivy Bronze: The 4334b number is no longer used. A search with Dupont returned a paint code 5331, if you cross reference this with the PPG computer you get code 2360 "green fire poly" a Ford color from 1972/73. (OEM paint code 4D) White: is numbered on the flier as a lacquer, and using just the Dupont 21667 number I found PPG code 2185 a generic white color. Lime: Dupont shows two codes, 5181 is Dodge Sublime green, (not the color on the truck) and code 5504, PPG code 2674 lime Green, a Chevrolet truck color from 1974. (OEM paint code 517) All these colors can be mixed at any good automotive paint shop. Parchment & Green Splendor are interior colors? I couldn't find any paint info on them. I hope this helps. Has anyone built the Revell...
Scalefinishes replied to Raul_Perez's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I built one a few months ago, and loved it. Except for a few sink marks on the rear end, it was flawless. No issues with fit on any of the parts. The glass top actually opens and closes. Don't let the simplicity of the design fool you, you will have to make sure you finesse both the top and the body to get it to work smooth when its painted and installed. It will fit and work perfect. Have fun. Jameston -
What car did you pull that out of? Amazing work. Jameston

Kenworth T600 (Complete)

I like it. Very nice work. Jameston -
I use Drano or a similar drain cleaner. It's works so fast you can watch the chrome disappear. DOT3 brake fluid also works. Not as well and takes a longer time. Between the two there isn't a chrome part made that cannot be striped. Jameston

What Would You Do?
Scalefinishes replied to FloridaBoy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
YES! You most certainly did the right thing. If they want trophies fine, but if they have to cheat to get them that's not Okay. I mean if the dad wants a trophy so bad he has to enter the junior category, and then has his son lying to cover for him, that is unforgivable. I don't think the son should have even gotten the ribbon for entering "his" car. The model should have been handed back, and then the both of them sent packing. At least that's my opinion. Jameston -

can't find paint what are some choices?
Scalefinishes replied to B-dub's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You should get paint online. http://www.plastic-models.com/ has a great selection of paints. If you like, you can also Google "model paints" that'll give a good place to start. If you really want to replicate an authentic factory color for your model cars an airbrush is almost required. You can get spray cans of authentic colors from MCW. Hope this helps Jameston -

Range Rover Pro Street - or race, Pro Show....
Scalefinishes replied to Modellpularn's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Why not paint it Land Rover Tangiers Orange? It would be a "proper" rover color. IMHO Jameston -
What color are you going to paint it? Jameston

Very sad. I can't think of anything worse than losing someone that close. My prayers are with Darryl. Jameston -
I really like the Coke truck! And the tanker. Looks like I'll have to get some coke red in stock. Yeah, Where is the ZR1? Jameston

Yes, the L-89 Exhaust manifold is cast iron. Jameston

LOL. I love it, and I could get those colors. What about that scheme on an FXX, an F430, or a best yet a 599 GTB? Honestly, I was thinking of painting the the Oro Chiaro Enzo I built earlier in Mary Kay pink. But I have an Escalade I'm going to build in that color. Just an idea. Jameston

Actually I love the idea that you can go to the dealer and spec these cars out any way you want it, factory custom. Seriously, if I had the cash to buy a Ferrari, it would really bother me parking it somewhere and have one just like it show up.

I would've liked to see the look on the face of the Ferrari salesman when this was ordered. OOB Revell kit. Everything fit perfect. The kit actually goes together really well. The body does need some work, there are a few sink marks on the quarters and the back of the trunk lid. Scalefinishes.com 2006+Dodge PVE Go Mango Orange paint topcoated with a lacquer clearcoat out of a spray can. Interior is airbrushed with Floquil desert sand. Images removed. Thanks for looking Jameston
