New camera for christmas......see?
Terry Sumner replied to Terry Sumner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes. It does record videos too! This camera can use the USB cord but my computer has the small slot for the card. The camera came with a 4 gig card and I much prefer to stick the card into the computer vs using the cord. Much faster! I use Irfanview for all my photo needs. -

Fotki for sure...been with them for many years now.... -
My son got me a new Olympus SP-720UZ camera for Christmas. It's a 14 megapixel job with one feature I really wanted that I never had before in a digital camera...a Super Macro mode! Man this thing can shoot close! The lens was just over an inch away from this valve cover.... I think I could have gotten even closer. And I didn't even see that little hair on it. This will be a big help finding flaws! http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki Here's the camera.... http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki

"As I've said many times in the past, it's not my desire to build a "perfect" model (whatever that is?) but instead, like a painter who doesn't paint every single leaf on a tree, but when you look at his painting, you see a tree, I like to capture the look of a car in miniature. I think I did that this time around and I'm happy with the way this model turned out." I agree Drew...but I think you've done more thn that...this one looks really good! Bravo!

Police Car Question
Terry Sumner replied to Hollywood Jim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just to give you a little more info on the prisoner transport part...here in Connecticut, we in the Connecticut State Police always have and still do transport our prisoners right in the front seat next to us. The reasons are a few... each trooper is assigned a cruiser that he/she operates 24/7/365, on duty and off duty. Our cruisers are not marked by paint. The only marking on them is when we attach the roof rack every day upon returning to duty. The rack attaches to the roof with a cam release/attach lever or a screw into a pre mounted bracket and the wiring is via a 10 pin socket. Our cruisers have no barrier between the front and rear seats. So, all prisoners are handcuffed behind their backs and placed in the right front seat and then seat belted in. Makes it a lot easier to watch them this way. -
I agree with your view! Nicely executed!!!!!!

Model room space

There are a few pics of my shop here... might give you an idea or two... http://public.fotki.com/tsumner/scale-modeling/my-modeling-shop/ -
The Accurate Miniatures kit depicts a 1964 Vette. The side scallops or louvers are one way to guide in year identification. The 63 had the 2 scallops and the split rear window. The 64 had the regular rear window and the same 2 horizontal scallops. The 65 and 66 had the 3 vertical scallop openings. Now telling a 65 apart from a 66 is more difficult. In the 65, the car had roof vents. In the 66 the roof vents were gone. The grille was a little different too but hardly noticeable. Then the 67 went with the closely spaced 4 scallops, 5 openings...or louvers or whatever ya wanna call 'em.

Yes on both points Mark...I do remember your belt! How did the teeth hold up as far as sticking to the tape over time? And yes, I got my Hot Rod in...you're right...love that Kandy Apple Red one! Well...love them both actually. In fact, I'm going to the hobby shop in a little while to pick up another one. Have you seen the kit yet? On the decal sheet they have these really cool side panel inserts that are printed with Tru-fire style flames. And they look really good! I do believe I'm going to build another 62 and use those inserts! (since I'm not NEAR good enough to actually paint tru-fire flames that small!!!) http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki

While waiting for paint to dry...thought I'd scratch up a blower belt. I used .005 Evergreen as the belt stock and then .020 Evergreen rod for the teeth. I laiid a piece of tape on my bendh and dribbled some Model Master liquid glue on it. Then chopped off a whole bunch of pieces of rod about 2 - 3 times longer than the width actually needed...just to make it easier to hold them! Then I glued them all on piece by piece... http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki After they dried I then just cut off all the ends with the Xacto knife... http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki Looking at this pic I think the teeth look too thick...and by measurement, they are. I talked to Roger Lee and he told me his 1:1 blower belt is 1/4" thick at the root of the teeth with 1/4" thick teeth. So in 1/25, the teeth should be only about half this size. So I plan to sand them down some to make them more in scale... http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki

Sure does...shortens drying times considerably! Lots of modelers use them now.....
-
Well if you got yours then I should be getting mine in too!

Ted...there is an AMT 62 Vette with a top. I have a couple of them on my watch list on EPAY...we'll see if I get one if it fits ok....
-
Ted...unfortunately this initial issue of this brand new tool kit does not come with a top,,,, Carl....not half as bad as I feel!!!
-
And it will be again after I re-do it!

Thanks Wayne. But alas...problems... Lot's of tiny little spots like fisheyes in the Kandy red! So the body is in the purple pond!!! My own fault. I think I rushed it and didn't allow the gold base to dry enough even though I used a dehydrator. This time I will let it dry for a day!
-
That car is in serious need of a body-off resto! Good job!!!
-
You know, I was asking myself that same question today...I cannot for the life of me remember. I've had it in a small box for a few years just waiting for the right car to come along to put it in. I had taken the time back then to machine up some blower pulleys and I scratchbuilt the belt tensioner and then for some reason just never used it. A 70 Chevelle seems to jog something but I'm definitely not sure on that...

This is kind of the look I want to shoot for..... http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki Here's the model with it's basecoat of CobraColors Glitter Gold Metallic... http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki And here it is with it's first coat of House of Kolors Kandy Apple Red....in the dehydrator.... http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki And out of the dehydrator... Still needs a few more coats of kandy then some clear! What's not to love in a Little Red Corvette? http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki

Already cut the kit motor mounts off and repositioned them to fit this engine. Hogged out the thick plastic in the trans tunnel to give a little clearance for the trans. The body has some very small molding lines that run around the perimeter of the body that had to be sanded off. In particular very tough to get at in the area on the nose just above the raised detail that spells out CORVETTE...but I think I got it without hitting the raised letters. I also cut out the hole in the hood to allow it to fit on with the blower sticking through. I'm going to make the hood like one held on with 4 hood pins. And I just hit the body with a coat of glitter gold as a base for the Kandy Apple Red to be applied. I tell ya, I haven't been this excited about a particular model car in a long time. I think this one is gonna be cool!

If I can find a top for it, it will be a legal gas car. If I cannot get a top for it, I'll make it a legal Street Roadster car...pretty much the same thing....only different! LOL
-
Anyone make a resin top for the new Revell 62 Vette yet?
-
Blown BBC in a 62? Oh yes! Just got one of these kits today and have been waiting for the right car to stick this engine in. I think maybe I have found the rght one! What do you think? http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki
