  1. +10 on THAT!!! Well done my friend...a heck of a save and very nice, precise modifications! You should be very proud of that car!
  2. This is the Tamiya 1/48 scale kit. Thanks guys...the natural metal finish is tough to do. And this time made tougher from the bad Alclad. I'll get some new stuff for the next one!
  3. Had a bear of a time with this one only because of two things...bad Alclad and bad decals. The Alclad at first wrinkled up badly...my fault because I didn't allow the basecoat to dry thoroughly. Stripped it and on the second go around it came out good. Except it never really hardened up the way it should. I believe I had some of the old Alclad that was bad! And then the decals fell all apart in the water. These were the kit decals. Long story with these but to make it short I saved them by painting Microscale's Liquid Decal Film over the top of them. Then used them like any other decal. For those who don't know...during the Korean War, all the P-51's were redesignated as F-51's. No change in the airplane...just the name. http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki The cockpit before the wings were on etc. (easier to see it this way) http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki
  4. Well..yes and no. I apparently have a batch of the old Alclad that was bad and just won't completely dry. But it came out ...just ok... I'll post a couple of pics here...
  5. I spend a couple of bucks...I figure that buys me some pleasant dreams!
  6. But you originally asked how to "section". This involves taking a section of plastic out of a body to shorten it's height. Pretty much take a piece of tape the width of which is how much you want to remove and tape it to the body all the way around. Then use a razor saw and cut on both sides of the tape. Then put it all back together...with putty of course. Here's a link to a Youtube video on the subject...
  7. Do Tightie-Whities count?
  8. That is REALLY cool Wayne!
  9. Wow! You did one heck of a job there! That is beautiful!
  10. I just sold the original and complete 1965 issue of Fred Flypogger as Speed Shift for $500!
  11. Well as for me... I would build a new primary residence home that is completely handicap accessible to help my disabled wife. And to make it so her disabled dad can come to our house to visit. We live in a raised ranch and he can't come to our house bcause he can't get in it in his electric chair. I would give a huge chunk of it to each of my 4 kids. I would give another chunk to each of my 3 grandkids so they could go to whichever college they choose and have a good start on life. I would donate a chunk to the Reason to Ride committee that I'm a member of. We have a bike run every June where all the monies raised go to help veterans who have fallen on hard times. Except we only have just so much cash and can't help very many with very much! I would purchase a home in Key West, another one somewhere in the mountains of Vermont, another one in the mountains of Colorado and any others in any other location I chose! I would build a swimming pool for my high school. When we built the new school a few years ago the pool got axed because of the cost...and rightly so. But with free money the pool could be built. I would build a theater in my town for play groups to put on quality productions. And call it The Sumner Playhouse. It would be cool to have my name on something in town to leave as a legacy... I would see if I could become partners with Teddy Marsh of Marsh Racing and go to all the Grand Am races around the country as part owner! Yes...it is nice to dream. But in order to dream you have to spend 3 bucks...the cost of the ticket. No ticket...no dream!
  12. No one won the over $300 million Powerball last night so now it's up to $425,000,000 with a lump sum payout of $275,000,000! What would YOU do with it if you won?
  13. How did you like the Krylon Yellow paint? Did you decant it into an airbush bottle?
  14. You're doing some pretty cool work there my friend. This thing is going to look very cool when it's painted! Just as a little note though...that bar you fixed isn't the sway bar...that's the tie rod. The sway bar is the other rod that's more to the front of the front suspension...
  15. I have the Lindberg 61 Impala but it's one of the originals with the badly misshapen cowl. Is there a way of knowing which kit has the later corrected cowl? Is the box art different on the corrected ones? When I search the kit on eBay it comes back with a number of different box arts...just want to know which one is the corrected body.... I have the issue with the red car on the top with a mostly white background
  16. Cool...looking forward to watching this one unfold....
  17. yup....what every one else already said....+10!
  18. Looks great as usual Roger! And I will echo what Charlie said about the Pollyscale paint. I used to use a lot of it in my airplane models. The trouble is, it was originally from Floquil but was taken over by Testors and they have now discontinued it so whatever is left over is it. The Vallejo brand of paints is a good and comparable alternative though...
  19. My my! Doesn't appear that it will take long for you to be right back in the swing of things! Welcome aboard!
  20. Dang that paint is just gorgeous!
  21. Thanks guys. These natural metal finishes are the hardest ones to do in airplane modeling! The metalizers are very delicate to work with. On the next one I'm going to try the Alclad Duraluminum...
  22. Just finished this jet. Natural Metal finish done with Model Master Metalizers. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  23. Now THAT is COOL!
  24. Certainly is different! But I would not like to be the driver sitting next to that engine...be burned alive in no time from the heat!!
