  1. Michael....nice model! But since no one has mentioned it for you....the rear wrinkle all slicks are on backwards. You have the wrinkles oriented so it would be launching in reverse....
  2. It's not out yet but the test shots have been out and it looks good. It's made by H-K Models, the same company that released the 1/32 B-25 kit a few months ago! MSRP is $280.00! But i'm sure we'll be able to get it for less than that! No other kit maker makes a 1/32 scale injection molded B-17. Years ago, Combat Models made a vacuform kit but it wsa just a basic shell. No detail at all. Pretty much a scratchbuilding start. I had one but I ended up selling it.
  3. Ray...I think that size is ok for a 1/25 scale model car. But I think it's probably not gonna suffice for a new model I'm waiting for....a 1/32 scale B-17G 4 engine bomber. This sucker has a wingspan of 39" !!!! I think I'm going to have to work on that one on a 4 X 8 sheet of plywood! LOL
  4. I dunno....was so long ago I can't remember!
  5. As they say...beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For me, I like this a lot better. The front end doesn't look so "heavy" to me in this iteration...
  6. There are already a couple of threads on this subject... here is one... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=56540&hl=%2Bworkbench+%2Bsaturdays#entry665144 Here is the Workbench Saturdays thread that Chuck mentioned... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24630&page=46&hl=%2Bworkbench+%2Bsaturdays#entry827598
  7. No...Kevin builds... a LOT! And builds well too. He's won a few Best of Show awards in addition to many class awards! He's very eclectic in what he builds. Builds everything! He's building a 1/35 scale German Locomotive right now that is pretty awesome! And he made that train trestle that you see in the 5th row down, first pic on the left numbered 1002644, from scratch. He's just fortunate enough that he can spend a lot of time with his hobby!
  8. Sorry Charlie....it was my birthday on the 18th and my daughter threw a small surprise party at her house for me on the 17th. So I kinda had to be there.....
  9. Friends, the shop here is the shop of a fellow club member, Kevin. Bear in mind when viewing the photos that his shop encompasses his ENTIRE basement of his home. He builds all kinds of models....cars, trains, planes, figures, armor....and it's ALL very good! There are 29 photos in my Fotki album here... http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki
  10. This is an all inclusive show so please don't mind the non car pictures. http://public.fotki.com/tsumner/scale-modeling/valleycon-2013/
  11. Gary...do you have a photo account at any of the photo sites ? Like www.fotki.com or www.photobucket.com or the like? It's certainly very easy to post photos when you have one of these free accounts. You simply load your photos to one of those sites and when you want to post a photo within a message here, they give you the syntax that you need to post it. All you have to do is copy it and then paste it in your message...nothing to it! Look here at mine if you want to see what a Fotki site looks like... www.fotki.com/tsumner
  12. Another benefit..... My Doctor called me last night to give me the results of my cholesterol blood test... Great News...it's down to 188!!! That's down from 263 just prior to September 10th, the day I started WW! And I did it without taking those darn pills!!!!
  13. Survived another year huh Bud? LOL
  14. Well I'm just about done with losing weight! I weigh exactly 210 now and most of my friends are telling me to not lose any more! I feel pretty darn good now but I'd still like to tighten up the 'ol midsection some more. I see my Doctor on Thursday so we will see if he thinks I'm good at 210 or not. The left side was almost 7 months ago...back in August of 2012. This was one of 2 photos that shocked me into going on this weight loss journey. And of course on the right is me today....minus 47 pounds! Pic was taken on St Patty's day. http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki
  15. My son and I are installing a F.A.S.T. fuel injection system on his Fox body Mustang. The engine is a 68 302 block with modified Windsor heads, Forged pistons, roller cam system etc. Just wondering if anyone would want some closeup photos of this installation? This is the system where the Holley 4 barrel carb has been replaced by a 4 barrel throttle body. Not a whole lot of difference in looks from the carburetor but at least I could show you how the harness attaches to the unit. Like this..... I'll have more in this Fotki album http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki
  16. Ditto what everyone else said Rod. Been a fan of your modeling ever since I first saw that gorgeous black 32 Ford years ago!
  17. I think you have those tiny little flying machines from "Batteries Not Included" at your disposal and working on this!
  18. Very nicely done Bill!
  19. That's great! Now continue to do what the Doc tells ya to do and heal up! There's models to be built!!!
  20. That's ok...just like to see the whole car! Nice clean build!
  21. Very nice. Please post some pics of the chassis, interior and engine bay!
  22. Bob...you can do this without a planer if you have a decent table saw. Just use wood of all the same thickness. The widths of each piece could be all the same like mine or they could be random widths also...doesn't really matter. What IS important though is having a precise 90 degree cut on each block so that when you glue them up they stay straight across. Also some good clamps like Bessey K-clamps or Jorgensons....any of the newer style precision clamps. All the pieces were 10" long in the beginning. I made it by gluing up enough blocks side by side to make a row 16" wide. Then, once I had enough rows glued together to make a block 14" wide I glued 4 rows together at a time to make them 3" thick and then cut those blocks in half. Then I glued up all the 5" X 16" blocks together to make it 28" long. Just have to be precise in gluing everything together because sanding the end grain takes a long time, even with a real good belt sander. I have a Bosch 4" X 24" and it still took a while to get it nice and flat. I think I have maybe 30 - 40 hours of actual hands-on working on it. But the total time was much longer due to all the glue drying times The finish is black paint over primed wood for the legs and apron. The block is finished with Howards Butcher Block Conditioner, available at most Home Depot stores. Also, here is a pretty good video on the subject of making end grain cutting boards at The Wood Whisperer site.... http://www.thewoodwhisperer.com/videos/how-to-make-a-butcher-block-cutting-board/
  23. Here's something that has been eating into my model building time lately... Just finished this for my baby girl...well not exactly a baby anymore since she's a married woman now...but she's MY baby! 4 1/2" thick, 16" X 28"....36" high. Block made of 6 different woods....Mahogany, white oak, walnut, cherry, maple and ipe. Legs are simply softwood. She knows I was building something for her but she has no idea what. Going to deliver it Friday night and she just told me the suspense is killing her! This type of block would make a helluva modeling work surface!!!!
