welcome aboard.I usaully pick a particular skill I want to work on for a model be it decals, bmf, paint ,detailing a particular area or just improving all of the above. it is really fun to look back at where you started and see how far you have come. you will find that your next will be better than the last one.and you also have like a million years worth of building experience to tap into here when you want to try something new. so good luck keep at it and when all else fails no matter how sure you might be ,the instuctions that come with the kit are there to read.

nice scallops .I can never get the other side to match the first side.but looks like you don't have that problem.keep up the great work.

with something this cool take all the time you need but keep posting your progress I really like it . do you have any photos of the toy it started out as?
-
I like the color scheme and the wheels are pretty sharp tooo!
-
I've got one waiting to be built .I think yours looks great

I hope it's as good as I hope it will be .the car looks pretty sweet I don't know how many of the cars they have made.I think also there is quite a bit of cgi involved
-
yeah but isn't that way way to easy. keep this up and someone might get something accomplished.

I wouldn't remove the entire flange but I would sand or file it down testing frequently. I have a piece of wood about 5 inches wide by 12 inches long with a medium grit sand paper glued to both sides for just such an occasion I usaully work in a figure eight pattern which keeps everything pretty even. don't use just a back and forth or up and down because it will tend to become uneven . hope this helps

lookin' great, what'd you use on the grille? is it bmf for the shiny stuff ?

Future Classic Car Projects March 12/08
randx0 replied to Mr. Can Am Garage's topic in WIP: Model Cars
looks like fun keep us posted on the 35 b it's one of my favorite cars.where do you find the colors for these older cars cuz i'd build more if I knew what they are suppposed to look like because they look pretty decent right out of the box but with a little extra look out. I have a thomas flyer waiting in the wings i just have to decide which leg of the race i want to build. -
I got mine on the bay also which was fortunate for me it was a buy it now for $30 or $40 and i think the shipping might have been a little high I ended up getting it on the last day . once i got it i've been looking for more haven't seen any except the one built one in the back of a parts lot.my problem isn't to cut it up or not but rather what to build it as if i can't find more. like i said the racers wedge almost falls onto the back of the cab .and i bet the trailer could be a nice start on a dump truck fantasy style and the rims will look ok on an older medium duty truck.nothing here worth super detailing but a good basis for a suggestive build.

ok now how about if you've seen it before I have only seen this one and a cab of one in a parts lot on an auction site .the lines of this truck speak to me(too much?)I'm just curious if they are easily obtained or pretty rare. this one is complete and I would rather carve into one that is in worse shape.but I'll do it if I have to.

I like it. I hadn't thought about using the 60 for that camper I think it is a natural . what will you use for rims the stock hubcaps or do you have something else in mind .are you gonna add a mini bike or a canoe or something maybe a little fishin boat on a trailer?and finally are you doing anything special inside the camper? keep up the good work

lakeville just south of burnsville. most of my time growing up was spent in minneapolis.I first saw that dio in the 89 contest annual which was about when I got "serious" about models and discovered the magazines which opened up a whole new world.for some reason that particular dio captured my attention it's always been one of those that I wanted to emulate.btw I wasn't sure where exactly the picture was but I found it in the first book I looked in and boy at that contest there were alot of heavy hitters. at least alot of guys that were doing top notch work.well keep up the good work talk to you later

kinda strange...I usually sell or give away most of the models I have built, but still have the origional instruction sheets for'em all

thank you very much ,now I can move on with my life.well maybe..... now I need to find another one to build perhaps as an auto transporter like the european race teams used in the 50's and 60's or a tow truck or a camper or a missle launcher or or or dang maybe I need more than 1 more.oh I forgot the obvious choice box stock you know for posterity. thanks again for your help. btw the racers wedge fits on the back almost perfectly.
