  1. I just checked the prices and they are about the same as the local hobby shops. As I live in Canada, I checked WM in Canada and there are no model kits listed nor in the stores. I prefer dealing with a hobby store where I can also get glue, paint, tools, magazines, accessories and human help when it is needed
  2. Here are the final photos from the contest...sorry for the delay... http://public.fotki.com/HowardCohen/mega-city-model-mot1/
  3. My 1999 Chrysler Concorde LXi 3.2L has the same feature. I watch it on a regular basis. City driving is 25MPG, highway 35MPG and sometimes more. My highest was 40.1MPG on a long highway run with no stops, cruise control set at about 110K, 68MPH.
  4. The NNL is a cruise for model cars, no judges, just a large group of friends. There are a couple of awards voted on by the attendees and lots of door prizes and raffle stuff. The primer table usually has the most people gathered around to discuss the builds, so bring your in-progress stuff....and a camera if you have one. The vendors area is separate, although in the same large room. The vendors room opens earlier than the NNL plus Sunday. Reminder...I am having an open door policy at my room at the Red Roof on Executive Parkway. Feel free to drop in Saturday morning after 8AM. Also, I may do the same Friday evening as I will be arriving early. Swap stories, stuff, visit...NO smoking though ;)/
  5. I will be there, staying at the Red Roof on Executive Parkway off Secor, south of the 475. I will have an open door policy on Saturday morning for anyone who may want to get into the swap meet mode
  6. Thanks to all who came and helped make the show a success! The entries were great and the people were better! See you all next show...
  7. Yup, the vendors room is sold out...40 tables Bob, you're going to be too busy working to shop, so pay the 'phone bill. Besides working the raffle and helping Doug M. at the doors, I may put you in charge of supplying everyone with fresh coffee and donuts from Tim Horton's
  8. I don't remember who was selling what last year as I didn't spend a lot of time buying stuff. Okay, I did manage a few bits...like the Revell 1/12th '65 Mustang GT Fastback We do have a few new vendors this year as well but I am on photo duty, so smile See you guys soon, Drive safely.
  9. There is a model car club in Kingston. If you email me privately, I will give you a contact name.
  10. When I was a teen, we used to blow up models with blockbusters (very large firecrackers) and see how far the parts would fly. We determined that if we put cuts on the roof pillars, the roof could fly real far, almost across the street! And you guys thought Palmer kits were useless Oh, this photo was taken at one of our club meetings a few years ago. The hammer wielder hates tuner cars and the builder built this for the sole purpose of watching the hammer fly It was all done in fun...no real cars were injured in the process
  11. As of yesterday, we have 37 vendors tables sold and a few more to come. We have a several dozen raffle prizes including a 'Big Deuce' and a 'Big Tub'...bring a big trunk Our contest will have the usual great entries and I hope you are part of the show. See you all in 2 weeks
  12. Have you tried the craft stores? They have a wide variety of materials available for making all types of crafts. They may not call it a Mexican blanket but that doesn't matter. Also look in some of the dollar stores, curtain and fabric stores and doll stores. If that doesn't work, find a scale Mexican and steal his blanket.....
  13. If, as written and shown in the article, this is a radio delete car, why is there an antenna on the left rear? Why is the antenna so tall and thick?
  14. As of last week, we have sold more than half of our vendors tables. We usually have about 30 vendors tables. Last year we had 34 with 3 people on standby. This year we have 18 tables sold, usually by this time we have sold 10, so we are ahead of the norm. As always, we are looking for more sponsors, prize donations, vendors and attendees. We do have a non-competitive display area for your projects or for those who prefer to display only. Theme for this year's contest is 'Flashback to the 60's'. Proceeds go to the Children's Wish Foundation.
  15. I have a few Corvette promos and the paint on some of them is very good. I also have a few Impala police car promos, also very good. I would like a new Corvette promo to add to the stash. I have a friend who races slot cars and likes promos as they are stronger than a kit due to the mostly 1 piece body and the fact that they are painted. I have watched Ebay and the older promos still have high very good value. There are still lots of promo collectors out there.
  16. I just returned from picking up the bodies (yes, I have 2) and they are GREAT! THANK YOU Peter. I have so many ideas, which is why I ordered 2 bodies. My plan is to have them ready for NNL East next April. Good luck to all who are taking part in this terrific idea and have fun.
  17. I have removed old paint and clear from glass just by dipping them in Super Clean, then polishing them with Treatment Model Wax. Of course, this means you have to take the model apart
  18. Hobby King in Markham, near Highway 7 and Woodbine at 280 Yorktech Drive, unit 3. He has a good stock of Tamiya kits, paint and tools and something unique...he rents out spray booths by the hour If you don't have a place to spray at home, spray at his place. Check the Yellow Pages or Google maps for a map.
  19. Oh good, more Canadians! I've said this before...we are slowly taking over... What part of Canada are you in? We have a model car club in Toronto if you are in this area.
  20. I got this from another group... Ed Sexton has been hired back to head up product development at Revell. Not only is this news great for Ed, it's great for all modelers as well as Revell and perhaps signals a positive change in the economy. I hope all of you who know Ed personally and even if you don't know him, will extend your congratulations to Ed and his family…welcome back Ed!
  21. In 1999 I saw a T Bucket displayed as a model at the Grand National Roadster Show. The glue tube looks the same, so maybe it's the same guy.
  22. Since Chevy built 900 Impala SS cars with a 6, I thought it would be a nice change. The engine is from the Trumpeter Nova with a new carb & scoop, chrome fand and aluminum valve cover from Bob Dudek. The body is being massaged into a mild custom with the removal of the vent windows and fender markings. http://public.fotki.com/HowardCohen/models-2009/66-impala-ss-6.html I would have added the photo here but for some reason, I keep getting a 'file too big' message when I try to load a photo.
  23. I just had a chat with Bob and he said the price will be about $8 per valve cover. However, he is not in a position to do mail order as he only does this as part of his hobby, not a business. If you see him at a show ,ask him about the valve covers.
  24. I am waiting for Bob to come up with final pricing. I had a brief chat with him yesterday but I had a baseball game and I was late. Bob goes to a lot of shows on the east coast and often has aluminum parts with him. He also reads this forum so he may answer himself.
  25. Just take your knife and make your own convertible You knew this answer was coming sometime My guess is the sales of convertibles wasn't very high or the molds were converted to hardtops.
