Just when you think Chopper has hit the peak, he raises the peak with his next build! Another custom masterpiece worthy of a museum!

To my many friends everywhere...this year in lieu of Christmas cards, I have made donations to: Princess Margaret Hospital Oncology Research Department Canadian Center for Abuse Awareness Toy Drive I feel their needs are greater than ours and I am sure you will all understand. May the new year be better than the last... MERRY CHRISTMAS HAPPY NEW YEAR

In the movie 'I'll Be Home for Christmas' with Jonathan Taylor Thomas (from Home Improvement), there are a few 1/24th scale models on a shelf in his room at home, but barely visible. I know because I built them for the movie I built 6 cars in less than 3 days, all supplied by Revell-Monogram of Canada at the time. In that case the cars were easy to build...no windows (they reflect on camera), single coloured bodies and contrasting interiors, no motors, no fancy building, just basic box art type builds.

Vintage Racing Miniatures
Howard Cohen replied to airb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have used them on a few cars and they are excellent! -
I won't make the NNL this weekend I was working in the Sarnia area today and at 2:23PM headed for the border. There was a major traffic jam on the bridge. At 3:43PM I had travelled almost 1/2 a Kilometer, about 1/3 of a mile. The traffic on the bridge was stopped. An attendant said that customs into the US was backed up 3-4 hours! I turned around and came home Had I stayed, I would just be crossing the border now What a farce!

I have several of their products and they work very well. As for your daughter working there...I have been to the shop and she is having too much fun to call it work

I am arriving Friday evening and staying at the Motel 6, Chicago Road, Warren. Saturday morning I am planning to head to the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills. The museum opens at 10AM and I plan to be there about 10:30AM. Meet me at the motel and we can carpool or meet me at the museum entrance and we can tour together. I'll be wearing my Ferrari jacket and blue concours hat. See you there...

Is anyone going? I am driving in early Saturday morning (maybe Friday evening) from Toronto, staying in Warren, and visiting the Walter P. Chrysler Museum Saturday. If you want to visit the museum, let me know and maybe we can get a few people together.

Testing out Frog green masking tape on the plastic body before I paint the resin body. Started with pearl green, let it cure for a week, then masked and shot pearl blue, waited 30 minutes and removed the tape. I am impressed!

I think the best kits in 1/25th/1/24th ever for accuracy, detail and assembly are: JoHan Chrysler Turbine Car IMC Chaparral 2E Moebius Hudson Revell 1949 Mercury While the first two may be a little fragile, they do assemble well out of the box (unless you are named Mr. Obsessive ) and have details that were very advanced for the 60s and still today 50 years later.

I use Microbrush applicators from Alpha Abrasives (makers of Flexifile) to get into all the nooks and crannies and name plates and emblems with BMF. They work much better than qtips, leave no strands and come in different sizes. For burnishing, I use the side of a flat toothpick. I never put clear over BMF, I put the clear under it. Like Bill said, a smooth finish makes the BMF better. I put on a good coat or two of Treatment Model Wax as it gives a smoother surface for the BMF. I did a small demo this past NNL East showing how easy it is to do BMF. Also, I use stainless steel surgical blades for BMF as they have a cleaner, sharper edge and will last longer...and when you cut yourself, and you will, the cut is cleaner and easier to mend, but it still hurts

Bare metal foil question
Howard Cohen replied to catd11rpusher's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I always use long thin strips for windshield moldings, then buff the joint smooth with the side of a toothpick. -
"Cult Theme" for 2011 NNL Nationals at Toledo
Howard Cohen replied to tim boyd's topic in Contests and Shows
The theme is 'Straight Line Racing'. Tim does a 'cult' theme of his own every year, almost like a sub-theme. Now you can bring an extra model for the theme -

FYI...I have taken photos in the past and last year wrote an article about the contest, added in many photos, and sent it to a magazine, all according to the magazine's guidelines. To this day, I do not know what happened to the article as I never received any reply from the magazine nor have I seen the article in print -

Looking for something to do after the contest? There is a great cruise about 15 minutes from the contest venue and a great restaurant right beside it. The cruise is at the Canadian Tire store at Queensway at Highway 427 and the restaurant is called 'The Grille'. I'll be going there after the contest to complete a full car day. I'll have maps available at the contest. -

Uncertain T
Howard Cohen replied to Howard Cohen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Perhaps a small note explaining the editing? I would rather see a complete article for one model than two partials.
