Welcome aboard. Nice looking Chevy II, the decals do look good and period correct. It's also my favorite of your builds....so far -
Updating Old Topic's
novadose71 replied to novadose71's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jeez that was easy. I don't know how I missed that, but I did. Thanks Dub -
Looks pretty good so far, you have your work cut out for you(pun intended). A friends dad had a 55 and a 56 while we were growing up, I always liked the 55 a little better, and I had always hoped AMT/ERTL(R.I.P.?) would backdate the 56 to the 55. I remember his dad showing us, a day or two after he painted it(dark blue/white) , he could blow his nose and it would be blue. He painted lots of cars and was a little too cool for a respirator or anything, and payed for it, he only lived to see mid 40's. uhhh Anyway, I guess that's my 55 Ford story. Keep going, I can't wait to see it finished.

How do you update your topics? I mainly want to change the title to include "update" or something similar for a progress post. I have seen others do it and I think I have tried everything, except what works. Thanks

Nice clean build, I especially like your paint and chassis detailing. Well done.

Been working on some detail as of late. Made a grille out of Evergreen styrene, it took a couple nights, and it's a little off center, but I'm callin 'er good. Cut the custom headlights from a parts box grille, might be from a 59 El Camino. Have to track down my Wagonrod for it's tri bar headlights, I would prefer those on this car. Some twisting going on with the driver fender, don't know why all of the sudden it's doing it. I can tweek it straight, hope the 5 min epoxy will hold it in place. Made some Trendsetter-ish sidepipes (a dealer added option) from aluminum tube. They are not exact but have the look. I am trying to make some turnouts but I am having limited luck making acceptable ones, I need a pretty tight curve. I'm still trying though. I might sand the rocker trim smooth too. I widened the taillight panel to fit the wider 1/4 panels and added the "Callaway", I also removed the "A" from the spoiler. This is a test body I sprayed to check how the colors looked. House of Kolor Candy red and blue over white pearl. It's a little lighter and brighter than I was hoping for, I'll either add a few more candy coats or a slightly darker base color on the car. The stripe is a very crude and sloppy idea of how I plan it to be, It will (hopefully:) look better in it's final form. That's all to report for now. Hope to make much more progress this weekend, hopefully it will be in paint. I'll keep ya posted. Thanks for lookin".

No Rom This Week?
novadose71 replied to lonewolf's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sorry to hear that. Take care. -
that's a cool little MG. Probably a little faster than stock too. I wanna see this one finished.

You and your Monte are insane, which is good. I don't think I could figure out how to get the body to close up again
-
That's a sweet little rod. Nice build.

Jeep CJ to TJ COnversion (lots of modding!).

I think your insane! -
My original plan was to build a blue with white stripe convertible to go along with this, but this being part of a club build with a deadline, I did not have enough time for both. Now that you mention it, wouldn't be hard to make a conversion kit, maybe a top boot and narrowed rear seat with some doglegs added and cut your own roof off, or a whole body kit. I'll look into this and mention it to Jimmy next time I talk to him, thanks for the idea.

http://www.jimmyflintstonestudios.com/ He probably doesn't have them listed for sale yet. Might have to email him and ask. It's based on the AMT Camaro concept model released a few years ago.

............maybe in a few days the swelling will go down. I sent my Trans Am body to Jimmy Flintstone 2 weeks ago to be cast. I was told he had them in Toledo and sold out. I don't have any details on contents or price, but if you want one I am sure he will be casting more. I did send him the body, hood, grille, headlights and spoiler. Here's a couple pics of my build if your interested. Thanks for looking

mmmmm is right. Pretty nice stylized sugar cube.

The drawing is similar to the direction GM took with the Camaro, which I think is great, providing they don't tone it down for production. I am liking this build, keep going.

Cool. Looking forward to watching this. If it were mine, which it's not, it would be B5 (or triple black) with some sort of twist on factory AAR stripes. Any more details on your plans? One thing I really, really wanted to do was to incorporate the Callaway Speedster fender/quarter vents into my AMX. I am kicking myself for not doing it and it's not even painted yet, but I just want to get it done and can't afford the setback. These might look good on your Cuda too, just my 2 cents. Keep us posted.

Nice clean build, and a very different color. Sounds like a lot of conversion work also. Is that the kit with the clear trailer and late model Chevy pickup? I've got that one buried here somewhere.

Very nice builds to all, and I especially like Bill's GTO, an all time classic. I don't have any built Ferrari kits to show ya, but I wanted to play too, so here are some of the favorite "models" that I was fortunate enough to help build. All were restored from 1:1 built-ups and the parts box of sorts, each part was treated as a separate model in itself. good times, good times.......... And I'll never get tired of the pics of that Enzo ripped in half. more good times

Cool. I was looking at a 1:1 '74 fastback a few weeks ago. Absolutely rust free Cal. car, 360 dodge engine. Horrible candy red paint. $2400 OBO. Kid wanted to sell real bad. Almost put my motorcycle on Ebay, then I calmed down a bit. Still wish I was posting it as "what i got today." Hmmmmm, it is still for sale............

COMPLETE: 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean Pontiac
novadose71 replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Model Cars
That turned out very nice. I'm not really into modern Nascar, but the level of detail, and conversion work, you put into this build amazes me. All very clean. It will definitely hold it's own on the contest table. Well done. -
Good choice. Looks pretty smooth in the pics, will it get a respray in pink, or will you be changing the color too? One week and we'll see it under glass? It would take me a month or better. Good luck
