Wow. I've never been one to say much about emergency vehicles, but I really like this car. Cool body choice & color combo, and about 3 sheets of BMF. What's not to like.

I'll second that. Looks good against the black top.

Yeah, what Mark said. Pretty nice kit too.

Here's the two paint ideas I'm tossing around. #1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_AMX-GT ,I would change the stripe somewhat, probably strobe up and over the "roof", and maybe flip the colors. I am also collecting info and parts to build a replica of this car at a later date. #2 My original plan was for the factory Red,white, blue scheme, divided in 3rds, like the AMX super stocks, but instead of a straight line dividing the colors, it would be like the salt spray graphics that were popular for a minute, when I first started this, kind of like a tear away between colors, if that makes any sense, I can see it in my head anyway . Either way it has to be HoK candy red and blue with pearl white, I already have the paint waiting to be sprayed. Not sure on interior color, maybe a dark red and/or blue., haven't given it much thought. Again, thanks for the comments and input, hopefully for the next update, I will have some paint on something(sprayed not spilled). See ya

Professional painters only

Is it 25th scale or 32nd? Either way, I would lean more toward $150. I have never built this kit, the decals do look like a chore and with two tone paint..... I couldn't give a time estimate, but it would probably take me twice as long as anyone else:) -
Yes it is.

woops. In my haste to take the pics in a friend's photo box Saturday, I didn't notice the spoiler was falling off the decklid. It fits a lot better than those pics, here are some with the spoiler where it belongs, but now the pics aren't great(bad lighting and everything else). oh yeah, the taillight panel will "float" between the bumper and spoiler. Thanks for commenting. Later

Just a quick update. I'm in primer, a few areas need some minor work. I am trying to get the fit of the bumper/grille/hood to be real nice. In addition to molding in the roof spoiler, I widened the rear 1/4 panel flared area, AND fixed quite a few areas I oversanded 15 years ago when I started this thing. I narrowed and contoured a 73 Javelin rear spoiler from Modelhaus to fit, not sure if I like it on here, I'll paint it separate and decide later. The chassis mods are done and I can start painting this. I made some belly pans also, I'll take some chassis pics for the next update. I still can't believe it's finally in primer.Comments always welcome, good, bad or ugly. Have a good one.

Looking good so far. I don't have one of these(yet) but I do have a 356 Porsche, it's still in the box though. I look forward to seeing it finished.

Very nice. I don't recall ever seeing one built, looks great in yellow too.

Very cool. I've always liked those old buggies. Especially the sand shark, dig those kit decals.

HHHHMMMMM I have a 66 Galaxie in primer, waiting for the right engine, now you got me thinking..................The 427 in the Revell Fairlane Thunderbolt or the R code 66 Fairlane would look good, Polar Lights 69? Torino/Talladega stock car might have a nice engine. Boss 429/302,SOHC. Man, Ford had a lot of great engines, you have a lot of choices for this one. Maybe a Boss 429 with Weber carbs for something different.

I got most of my prepainted figures a few years ago. We use multiples of the same figure on our diorama's, changing colors of shirt, hair, shoes, etc. and putting some space between them .Look closely at the "Where were you in 72 " post, a few pairs of duplicate figures on here. Fast and Furious figures that came with diecast vehicles, 1/25 and 1/64 both had 1/25th figures. Of course some come with no figure at all so make sure you are not ordering one of these. These are from a few years ago, I got all mine on clearance when they were retired from store shelves, some searching might turn a few up now. I found 5-6 guys and a couple girls. All kind of generic, just standing there, but they look good and fill space nicely. These are a softer plastic, and I haven't tried to modify any of these, except for paint, and removing the molded on base. Some other 1/25 diecast's I found were: Vanishing point Challenger W/Kowalski holding beverage American Graffiti 55 Chevy W/Falfa sitting reaching out window " " Milner coupe W/ Milner leaning with foot on tire, this one still eludes me I think there's one with a carhop, and one with Toad's "date", I can't remember her name, guess I know what I'm watching tonite while I build. Route 66 TV show gold Corvette W/two seated figures There is a 1/64 Graffiti car (maybe others too)with a 1/25 Toad figure, not sure which car though A few model kits of the recent past came with figures too. These are a harder material, pretty sure some aren't even plastic. I did modify one to sit in a car, cut with a razor saw and used super glue, and putty. Here are the kits I can remember coming with figures: 68 Dodge Dart with Dick Landy standing 427 Cobra with Carol Shelby sitting on wall, Ken Miles sitting in car W/helmet on Hurst Hairy Olds W/Linda Vaughn standing waving Jingle Jim Funny car W/ Jim and Pam standing Tom Daniel Paddy Wagon W/ keystone kops, but they are a little cartoonish Chapparal 2D(?) W/driver figure wearing helmet, might be Ken Miles from the Cobra, I never checked. I know there are more out there that I'm not remembering, I'll post any as memory serves. Here's Dick Landy modified to sit with arm on window sill, oh yeah, his legs are real short now , but you have to look real close to notice.. BTW Let's see some progress pics of your diorama.

Nothing. It's payday and I'm already broke. Still playing with my new camera, which is why I'm broke anyway.

Very nice and clean build of a good looking car. I've always wanted to the Sunoco version of this on my shelf.

We have been useing clothing pins and needles cut to length in all of the figures in our club diorama's regardless of base material. The holes are pretty hard to notice, the tiniest drop of paint would make them disappear. We even map ours out when we tear it down to speed reassembly, yet we always end up drilling a hole or two each time we set up. I have yet to prep a resin figure, all mine are pre painted and I just change some things, paint details, decals on shirts, etc. I use mini (riffler) files and sanding sticks, available from your LHS, for cleanup on most everything I do build, I can't get by without them. I also use a used #11 exacto blade an awful lot, for scraping, not slicing, while shaping and removing mold lines. That's all I have for now, hope this helps.

My concept Trans Am based on the Kevin Morgan design
novadose71 replied to Trans Am Erik's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Here ya go. Here's the rear shots that I can find, plus a pic of the blue one. The builder of the black car made his pinstripe decals on his Alps printer , can't remember about the screamin' chicken, he also made the decals for the white car. I know he had a heck of a time getting the pinstripes down, the blue stripes on mine were a bit of a pain, as they kept folding over on themselves, and they're much wider. I must have wasted enough to do 3-5 cars. -
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Killer rod, and the perfect color too.
-
I would keep the weathered one,it's really cool, or send it to me and I'll hitch it up to mine. The figures came with die cast cars. The driver is Bob Falfa,he came with his 55 Chevy, and the passenger is one of the two figures that came in a 62? Corvette, from the old Route 66 TV show.

What camera should I buy?
novadose71 replied to novadose71's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
DOH! Forgot to mention. The camera review sites recommended were very helpful, and I don't think they have anything to do with the sales sites, besides listing them, but beware of some of the lower priced sales sites they all recommend. Apparently, they give themselves good sales reviews, and if you go back a few pages in the customer reviews, you find bad reviews and some pretty shady sales tactics. The site below also had some insight into this. Maybe it's all BS but it was enough to make me lose the nerve to send them $200-$300 and my personal information. There were at least four sites that were probably run by the same company, all were "closed for vacation" at the same time, all said they would resume shipping on the same date, and all had the same type of complaints. FYI ,buyer beware, and check customer complaints/reviews. UUUHHH ........that's all folks http://ripoffreport.com/ -
What camera should I buy?
novadose71 replied to novadose71's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just wanted to thank all who gave me their input on this, at times, mind numbing purchase. I narrowed it down to the Panasonic Lumix FZ7 and Canon S3is. The AA batteries in the Canon were the deciding factor. Bought one Sunday, and am now trying to make sense of the manuals. Hope to post some pics by next weekend. maybe in the Big Boyz section since I feel like one now . Thanks again and Happy Photographin'. -
Lindberg Little Red Wagon (Dodge A-100) built stock, added gas filler tube with no gas cap, parts box rear tires, toolbox, gas can, portable radio(from Scale Equipment) on doghouse, and a couple figures (not attached). Duplicolor Lacquer without clear for a dull look. Built for a club diorama, I planned to weather it and scratchbuild a topper & add a lawnmower, but I ran out of time. I still want to sometime in the future. Have a wonderful day.
