Just to chip in with a left field suggestion from across the pond : Mk1 Ford Escort - yup the boring family saloon !. There's quite a big scene in the UK with the real cars commanding fairly serious money for the "sporty" versions such as the Mexico, Lotus TC & RS2000 - so enough building variations to go at &Tamiya has kitted some British cars like the Mini, Morgan & Mk II Jag so I'd love them to do one (or any other manufacturer for that matter). The only kit that I know to in 1/24 / 25th is the Esci/Revell Mark II rally version which is pretty basic by todays standards (and not a Mk1) but still seems to command high prices on ebay so at least there seems to be a market at least over here. I've no idea if it would be popular elsewhere but with them being fetured in video games & the MK1 RS 2000 in F&F may be they have a wider appeal. Maybe the aftermarket could step in with different engines, decals, bubble arches, minilite wheels etc Just floating an idea and would be interested in other people's opinions. Cheers Andy

i suppose I could have built the Tamiya version for an easy life but I saw this one cheap on ebay. It's the Mr Hobby/GSI kit and it fought me all the way to completion.!. It's basically OOB except for lowering and using Replicas & Minatures tires. Colour is Zero Paints Ford Olympic Blue. Thanks for looking Andy

Thanks Peter & sorry for delay in replying. I'd rate it as pretty good, I still have to use polishing cloths to get a glass smooth finish but thats probably more to do with the fact I tend to put 2 or 3 fairly thick coats on as I'm vary of polishing through to the basecoat. Regards Andy

Hi all Progress ! Just a couple of pics of the body. The colour is HOK Brandywine over a silver base followed by Zero paints prer-thinned clear and a lot of "elbow grease" with polishing cloths and compound. Thanks for looking Andy

Hi all, just a couple of pics of the completed engine : I've also been playing around with lowering the suspension - the mods are not very pretty (so I'm not gonna show 'em to you !) but I wanted it to sit lower than stock : Thanks for looking - sorry for poor pics Regards Andy

Thanks Steve, the grille's from Replicas & Minatures It's actually designed for the AMT 49 Merc so it needs some of the depth taken out of it for it to fit the opening on the Hudson (I've already broken one trying to sand the rear down !). Cheers Andy

Hi Bill, sorry for the lack of updates - I did get as far as spraying up the body but managed to polish thru the clearcoat & couldn't get a good colour match on the damaged area so back to square one I'm afraid - hope to get a bit done over the xmas holiday (weather permitting). Regards Andy

Hi all Finally got round to doing the interior ! Thanks for looking Andy

Hi Bill & Ken, no problem, I originally used the existing front panel line of the rear door to save the need for scribing (which I dread) but looking at the body in primer & you're both right about the length of the door. Just a pic with the door lengthed about 3mm to try & balance things up a bit. You might just be able to see where the "old" panel line has been filled with plastic sheet. Thanks for the interest guys. Cheers Andy
