That looks fantastic. The engine cover is really quite a cool idea and it's a nice touch with the Dzus fasteners.

Well done, that looks very cool.

Complete: "Big Daddy" Don Garlits Swamp Rat XXX

That is really cool. It looks fantastic, pity on him if he doesn't absolutely love it. I actually built this exact kit when I was growing up, who knew the paint could be so shiny or glue wouldn't fog the front glass? -
I appreciate the comments guys. The little Cosworth motor was really neat so I did my level best to do some justice to it.

Nothing really remarkable, although I'm puzzled as to why the hood doesn't fit as well as it did when I was test fitting things together. That disappointed me a bit. Other than that it's a very well produced kit, the detailed painting is a bit of a chore though. Attached is a pic from the underside.

That's really cool, I'm a big fan of fast wagons and this hits the right spot. I especially like the taillight treatment as it really works on this build.

I just finished with this kit today. I thought I would never get it done as the painting was a bit more complicated than I was prepared for. It pointed out yet again why I need to learn how my airbrush works. The modifications to this are pretty simple. The rear fenders were widened to accept the wide wheel/tire combination and the rest is really just the selective use of kit-supplied parts. As the car is decidedly configured for track use, my plan was to have numbers applied, but the roundel supplied by Tamiya wasn't opaque enough so I have to scrap that for now. If I find some other decals that work better I'll definitely put them on. For now, it's done and I'm pretty happy with it. Flaws and all.

That's a fantastic paint job, it really makes the car look amazing. -
Excellent work, it looks great. I've grown quite fond of the older Japanese cars.

Cool project, but I am overwhelmed with envy knowing you have access to a rapid prototyper. -
I've had mine sitting there in the stack for a while too. I expect it was acquired some time in the early '90s. I believe I'll build mine as the long tail version though. I just hope I can do as well with the paint job. Nice work!

Actually George, that model is quite a bit different that the Accord you'll find in the US. For starters, we don't get the Wagon anymore, then of course the styling is completely different than the USDM car. Personally, I wish they'd unify the styling and bring over that Accord versus the one we have. While I've no urge to buy an accord, I sure do like the way those look. Thanks for posting that up Eric, those are always cool to see.

That is a most excellent tutorial right there. I am surprised this escaped attention until you brought it back up. Glad to have it now! -
Well, you did inspire me to get the Jagermeister decals for my Capri so I'll definitely have some options now.

Fantastic work man. Beautiful choice for a car too, one of my all-time favorites. -
That's really nice. I'm hoping to do mine up in the Jagermeister livery, although the D&W motif is pretty nice too and I already have the Gr.5 Jagermeister BMW.

Summer time brings fairly high temps around here as well. Usually ranging from high 80's to high 90's with a few days in the triple digits. All the same, it feel stuffy in the house on those days so my first instinct (if there's not anything to do outside) is to move very little.

I'm sitting here looking at my modeling bench and noting the distinct lack of activity that has taken place there over the last month. I expect there's probably a good layer of dust forming now as I type this even. My question is, does the onset of spring and summer give you pause in your building? And how much time during the good weather months do you get to build? Perhaps the latter question is geared more toward those in the more temperate climates. I personally build so slowly that progress is measured in one or two models a year (mind you, this is not because I build well, just slow). When spring hits that means I'm in the yard moving dirt and gravel, building decks, or painting the house. I honestly enjoy this sort of work almost as much as building little cars, but I can't help but feel guilty that my attention is so completely focused elsewhere. The building ideas don't stop coming to me, but the time to execute is limited by my other interests.

Well thanks, there's really not too much going on with my Legacy. In fact, this wasn't supposed to be a project car at all. My plan was to just leave it be, but there seems to be another force compelling me to modify. The only things I've got right now are a K&N panel, aluminum front skid plate, short throw shift lever, and the wheels. My current project is installing the KYB shocks and struts with some H&R springs. Which if not for my own foolishness, would be done by now.

What To Do, What To Do.......
Kombi replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I recycle them. Right in the bin. I will admit that there's a few that I probably would like to have kept, but that feeling usually passes pretty quickly when I think about storing something else. (a small house requires a critical assessment of what is and is not kept. ) -
I'm afraid our daily drivers are mostly mundane. My wife drives an '04 Civic LX Sedan in dark metallic gray. (I don't believe it's a stretch to say you've probably seen one exactly like it) I drive an '02 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon in silver (see below). It's currently sitting in the garage at the moment on jack-stands as I forgot a fairly important part (ahem, the upper spring seats) for the front struts, but it should be back on the road by next weekend. Sadly, I have no project cars to share. I've got too many ideas and not enough focus currently, so I've avoided making such a purchase.
