I use a Tamiya paint stand to hold the body and then wrap masking tape around itself and stick it to old medicine bottles for smaller parts. The bottles are filled with lead for stability.

Here's a '37 Ford I just finished and use HPK sunset pearl on it. Changed the wheels, cut open the roof and removed the side pillars, wired the engine.
