  1. AMT Racer's Wedge AMT '64 Mercury Marauder Lindberg '64 Dodge 330 Revell '77 GMC Wrecker
  2. I'm retired as well so my entire day is mine. I probably spend 3 hours a day in the nice weather and 4 hours a day during the winter in my work area. The only things that get in the way are my other hobbies.
  3. Yesterday I got 4 drag racing goody sheets from Slixx and a Monogram '71 Satellite and AMT '75 Duster from rickandkathy on eBay. Today I received a Pro Modeler '69 Dodge Daytona Charger from JimNOhio.
  4. .....but a big difference between Canadians and Americans.
  5. Revell '68 Hemi Dart. Revell Pro Sportsman cars. Revell ASA Camaros and Thunderbirds.
  6. I have had a couple of problems with them. I won't deal with them again. It's pretty clear that they don't take the time to inventory their kits to give an accurate description in their listings. My last transaction with them the kit had 19 pieces painted and glued that they neglected to mention.
  7. The hobby may not rise to the level of a "fascinating pastime" to everyone in it. For me it's just one of several hobbies that I enjoy. While some may be passionate about the hobby and looking to create something special from a kit to others it may just simply be something for those ten years old or older to do to pass some time.
  8. I'd be lost without eBay as there aren't many shows or swap meets around here. The best score I can recall was a couple of ASA late models for five bucks each.
  9. I don't build to either impress or display. I build just to build, something to pass the time and keep me busy, much like doing the daily crossword puzzle. The completed project gets photographed then placed in my parts bin to be scavenged for future projects. Nobody but me ever sees them.
  10. Sixteen is a funny age. For every mature sixteen year old there is one that doesn't have the sense God gave a goose....and a $500 car can be just as lethal as a $50,0000 car.
  11. I have received the discount at Michaels even without a Michael's coupon. They just ask for an email address that they can send future coupons to.
  12. You're right, it doesn't state "no international shipping" however it's pretty much implied when the only country he lists that he ships to is the United States. I'm in Canada too. I never would have bid on that item without first contacting the seller to see if he'd ship to Canada and at what cost.
  13. Port Angeles in Washington? If so Dennis at Model Express might be interested in the model kits. They're located in B.C. (Castlegar I think but not certain). They are updating their site at the moment but should be back online shortly. http://modelexpress.net/
  14. Absolutely love it. Violently beautiful in my book. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Electric car that nobody can afford... so what's the point? 20 years ago I could have said the same thing about a digital camera.
  16. Looking good so far, I'll be following along. Just as an FYI to anyone that is a fan of that Firebird match racer kit, it's being re-issued next month in a limited run. There is a vendor on eBay taking preorders and selling them for under $17. Pretty good for what had become a rare and pricey kit.
  17. Great job Romell. These pro mods are my favorite so I've been following along during this build. Every time you post an update it motivates me to get to the bench and keep my projects moving forward. While I'll never build to your abilities your projects do keep me inspired and help to avoid the burn out that often comes with the hobby. Thank you so very much for sharing with us.
  18. The news came out three or four weeks ago. Several threads already.
  19. For me it's all about the building. Once the kit is assembled the finished project doesn't hold much value to me. I keep a photo album to document what I've done and it's a whole lot easier to maintain than a bunch of fragile completions. Recycling certain parts also helps keep the costs down. Recently retired and on a fixed income every little bit helps.
  20. I photograph mine once built. After that they're fair game to scavenge parts from or to use as donors on future builds.
  21. The $250 seller only ships within the US, the $600 seller ships worldwide.
  22. As an eBay purchaser I have noticed that sellers are quick to point out in their listings that if you don't like the terms then don't bid. Perhaps the shoe is on the other foot now. If you don't like the terms don't sell.
  23. It's not only about the money. I'll buy new kit releases and my paints from the local guy but I'm not going to limit myself to strictly building what he happens to have in stock.
