Me too! He has been a dormant builder for almost twenty years. His father and I have an interesting history. This guy, and his father, are two very talented builders here in Hawaii. I'm proud to be able to call them friends, and even more so of Jr. as he has started building again, mostly due to my bugging the crapola out of him to build again. I see him every day at his work/job, and I can't wait to see not only build finished (it's over a decade or two old), but see some new stuff from him. Wait to you see the metal window frames for the side windows. He did both sides from aluminum stock, and he's not happy with it!

Milt, that actually looks great! I was going to chime in that the point and shoot digitals aren't that good for shooting models, but you just proved me wrong! The only thing I would try now is to up the ISO to 100 or lower. The A460 only went down to an f-stop of f/4.0, but the shot came out good. Can you step back further, and zoom in more? I would be curious to see if it gives a higher F-Stop.

Where's My 08 Model Car Magazines?
Gregg replied to Count Dragula's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm late, and it's my fault trying to get my ducks in a row, and I'm all quacked up there was a major computer crash in December where I lost everything, and I mean everything, from October to December The January issue was mailed a while ago, I will see exact date the Contest issue is a double issue, Feb/March, which is going to press in a matter of minutes, I hope, which will get me caught up, if I get the April issue to them in the next week. Hope that explains some things I hate making these excuses, but I am doing the best I can I have a great bunch of guys behind me, and Harry Pristovnik is doing a fantastic job with the new layouts and design of the mag, so I really think everyone will be impressed with the changes coming this year. Now, if I could only find time to build....... -

Guys and Gals: This may be a little off-topic, but I really think this applies to all of us. I met with the Associate Publisher, Dan Woods, of Make magazine the Friday before the NNL West in the Bay Area. John Oszajca was with me, and we met Dan of Make and Jim Newton of TechShop in Menlo Park, CA. Now, this is where things just make you go "WHAT!" Make magazine is basically the GEEK magazine for anyone who likes to make things: it doesn't matter what it is, if you like to make things, Make magazine covers it. From robots, model airplanes, technogizmo thingees, blimps, solar projects, home movies, it really covers anything and everything having to do with making things. And, isn't that what we do? We make models, or, as we say, we build models. I make a mess, but that's besides the point.... Anyway (I'm getting to the point...), John and I met with Dan and Jim at this incredible place called Tech Shop in Menlo Park. It's a maker's paradise, and the best way to describe how it works is that it's like a gym membership: you pay x amount per month, and you get to use all of these incredible tools, machines, resources, for your monthly membership fees. There is no buy in, up front costs, or anything! You can use, if you are qualified or go through the required training) every single one of the machines they have there. Now, what do they have? EVERYTHING!!!! From milling machines, to 3D printers, plasma cutters... just look at the flyer here: Seriously, Tech Shop is worth it even for me being out here in Hawaii. I would fly there every month, pay my monthly membership, and build some of the most incredible models, and projects, I could dream of. But then, I have a magazine to put out. Which brings me to the other point of this post. I read about Make magazine on one of publishing sites I visit all the time, and I sent them an email, hoping to get more info from them. Well, it turns out, that we have more in common than I thought! Make magazine is about people of all walks of life making things, which is what our hobby is about. I was so impressed with Make magazine, that I have made a 90% commitment to coming back to the Bay Area May 3-4 at the San Mateo Fairgrounds for the Maker Faire. http://www.makerfaire.com/ I really think this will open the doors to not only those who attend Maker Faire, but to us model car builders out there who want to take our hobby, passion, and art to the next level. With the technology that's available (and with avenues such as Tech Shop which makes those tools that would only be dreams to most of us available for a monthly membership), this will push our hobby way beyond the next level. It will also bring in others who make things to see what our hobby is and has become. So, if anyone in the Bay Area wants to jump on board with me and help MCM get through a weekend of 50K plus people asking questions, looking at what we do, and maybe a "Make n Take" for the kids, let me know. I am going to be working on this all through the next week or so. I will keep everyone informed. The site for the magazine is: http://www.makezine.com/magazine/ It's published four times a year, and I found it at Barnes & Noble. That's my high horse for now. But I tell you, wait till you see pics and article I'm doing on Tech Shop: you will be amazed!!!! I still am!

Exactly!!!!! Opinions are welcomed, and respected, and tolerated. But, if you start getting personal, making attacks at others, I will step in. You can say what you want, think, or feel. Just don't attack someone. I am da boss, remember..... Now you guys know why I posted all those requests for what kits you would like to see from AMT. Tom and John are great people, and I had a blast with the "Roudy Bunch" at the Chicago iHobby Expo a couple of years ago. I think John owes the next round......

I agree, Bill! It was great to meet you in person I love putting a name to a face, or email to a face, as the case may be. Your Tub was fantastic! Great to see that you build so well also! It really was a great show. We have to put the idiosyncrasies of the voting/ballots behind us. We all have our favorite model or models of the show My favorite model of course was.............

Thanks, Brendon and Curt. I couldn't have said it better. This is quite right, and please knock off any notion of improprieties during the counting of the votes/ballots for Peoples’ Choice at the NNL West. This happens sometimes, and that’s just the way it is. If accusations are being made about the staff and vote counting at the show, please be very careful of what you say. I will not tolerate any slander or defamation against those who I know and trust and treat as people with some of the highest standards in the modeling community. Enough said.....
