Hey!!! Gimme Back My Avatar!
Gregg replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sorry Guys, nothing can be done about the bank It's all or none Either you can have Avatars, or not Anyway, anyone can use any pic on the net, not having the bank of gallery pics won't stop them, it may make it easier for someone, that's all. There is an upgrade I have to do to the board, maybe this weekend. time, time, time... where does it go? -
Milt, the A460 unfortunately is a great point and shoot camera, but it doesn't give you any freedom to set the settings, such as aperture priority, which I recommend to use all the time. It can get close, about 2", but everything from front to back won't be in focus. The thing to do is experiment and see what works best You can use web sites photo host sites such as Fotki or PhotoBucket to host your pictures at, and then just link them to the post. Jairus did a great tutorial on posting pics: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...=posting+photos

I step out for a bit and all hell breaks lose! What did Jairus do now? I will see what the avatars are set at, and change it if I can. -
Getting better! I actually starting using those CFL's from Home Depot, 100 watt daylight ones. There are a bit more, but I think it's worth it. A couple of cheap big box flood lamps, and that's what I use now for lighting quick stuff.

Carl, the profile can't be deleted. Do you want to delete your account? Is it something I said? Didn't say? Kodiak, your post works, but go to the General section and put in a new topic, like "Newbie from Kodiak Alaska" or something like that..

Trying to get some more done but with hard drive crash, month behind in issues, and other things, I may be building on the plane on the way over

Prebuilt Diecast Cars In The Pages Of Mcm?
Gregg replied to Raul_Perez's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would have to leave that up to my team of experts. What I don't want to see is another red `65 Mustang, if you know what I mean It has to be something different, worthwhile, and stands out from the crowd. What comes to mind for me are the CMC models that are being released all the time They are distinct, and of such high quality, we all want them, but maybe can't afford them. There is some in between area that we can cover, that's not covered in Wayne's column, which he has done since the beginning of MCM. -
This is still one of my favorite threads!!! Me? Good People????

Here that guys? Free room and board at Harry's house in Chicago!!!!!!

Prebuilt Diecast Cars In The Pages Of Mcm?
Gregg replied to Raul_Perez's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
See, it's all Bill's fault!!!! Seriously, it was a great piece, well done, by a great guy. Thanks, Bill. And I have to thank Harry for the great layout work also. I have nothing against diecast, most of you probably know that by now. I have even popped for my fair share of FM ones over the years. All I need now is good display case to show them all off :-) -
Just bought my tickets to the NNL West http://www.nnlwest.org Staying at the Host Hotel, the Hilton I believe it's called this week I am flying in on red eye, get in Friday morning, plan on spending day up in the city, maybe get some things done as well. Flying out Sunday afternoon. I hope everyone will be at this show. It's always been a favorite of mine, for more than a few reasons! See you all there!

Mike, I would follow your dreams. I had a body shop on Maui for a few years. Had two cars on the covers of national mags. A body shop is cool, can be good money, but you have to create your own niche in this mega-million dollar world of cars. I guess it depends on what you want from it. A steady paycheck, or a spot on the Vegas CC at the SEMA show :-)

March what?

This topic is what a day old, and already four pages? This is the kind of stuff I love to see! It really brings out the ohana in what MCM is. One of the best things about doing the mag is that I have been blessed with so many friends from around the world. There probably isn't a city on this planet that I wouldn't be welcomed into someone's home. It is the true reward for the past ten years of pain, suffering, growth, adventure, heartaches, pitfalls, bouts of depression, and over 250K miles of driving!!! That's not including flying, my friends!!!! Plus, with seeing over - and this will be a low-ball guess - 65,000 models, this has been nothing short of amazing! The joy is getting to know each and every one of you. What I really love seeing is the look on someone's face when I remember them, maybe only after meeting them once, say four or five years ago. I pride myself on my memory, although I am human (somewhat), and do make mistakes, the best I can do is what I have to give to others. This is not about making tons of money, being rich or famous, but about the hobby. Every one of us has a full time job or source of income. This is our hobby. And getting to know what makes us all "tick" really brings us all together. So shut up, Gregg, what do you do? NOTHING!!!!!! Nutin' special!!!!

Where Do You Work And Paint?
Gregg replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Okay, you guys are nuckin futs!!!! I thought I was bad spraying in the kitchen in a spray booth, but I regress.... Billy, you are crazy! Jeff, that's a true spray booth! I love seeing where guys build their models. That's what it's all about: building!!!! I remember the story of a build on the way to a show, a big show, and the model was built on the road, on the way to the show. They rented a mini van, painted the body on I-70, west-bound, with the van's door open, doing the legal speed limit!!!!! I know there are pics out there somewhere......... I have run features on modeler's workshops before, I want to do more I have a few favorite or "If I Could Do It Right" type of work areas that I keep in my hidden vault of encrypted bytes and bits, which I may share if you all behave yourselves!!!!! One of my favorite giggles is an oral surgeon who uses the operating room as his photo studio!!!!! A new thread?????? Time for moi moi -
I don't like you......
-
Chris, I'm going to have to ban you forever for that one!!! Check around, my pay is on par or above what other mags are at, especially given the circ numbers. Of course, I love to get articles gratuitously, every penny back in the bank helps in the long run. You won't get rich off MCM, but you will get pride, many thanks, a boost in the ego, and of course, your name forever in print. There are some who can make a living off of writing, but they do it for many and adhere to strict deadlines, and are very loyal, and dear friends :-). Most of us do it for the love of the hobby, that's what got me into it in the first place. Watch what happens over the next year, you will see many changes and improvements.

It's against the law here in Hawai'i to leave a hobby shop parking lot with the kit still in the plastic sealed wrapper. No kiddin', there's a cop in our club who will enforce it!!!!! It depends to me on what you want to do with it. I would rather have it opened, so you know what the kit is like inside after all these years. That way, the potential buyer/bidder knows what they are getting, and make it known that it was sealed, you opened it to see shape/condition of kit I have been burned many times buying a "sealed" kit, to find out it either it was resealed, or the kit was warped/damaged Just my too sense
