  1. I know, I could probably hand-deliver the mags cheaper! Right now, the PDF's are huge, over 90MB, and that's almost impossible to use as a medium to read or download online I am working with some vendors to get an online reader going, like a virtual magazine That would be available for foreign and overseas subscribers shortly after printing, and as back issues to U.S. readers two months after printing. Make sure you guys yell at me to remind me of this in a couple of weeks You know I only have three brain cells left, and I have to use them sparingly.......
  2. George, the lateness is my fault, and I have to take the blame for it. There have been a lot of "issues" going on around home, and I haven't been able to get things turned around as fast as I should I am on a mission to make this way ahead of schedule by the Feb/March issue, which means you will get the next month issues before the end of the prior month. I don't want to make excuses, and all deadline issues are my problem, and shouldn't be passed on to our loyal readers. Thanks for your patience, and please bear with me a little bit longer
  3. The Detailer makes a great wash for the grilles, I think they have a web site: http://www.thedetailer.net This is what I use for all my grille washes
  4. You can also call the office in Denver (303-296-1600) and they can hook you up with whichever issue you want. They are $5.50 U.S. postage paid (in the U.S) per issue.
  5. Do I get it? Do I? Do I???? :-) Great build, super clean, ala-Lyle-style :-)
  6. Heh, I fly with no class, why would you get to go First Class???????
  7. Hand deliver here in Hawaii please :-)
  8. 72% of the time, PLEASE!!!! I know, that is my biggest problem, besides being such an #49*&%^%+ Can I say that? I have a complete overhaul in progress, and I hope this make the mag what it can be. I have to take the blame and the brunt of everything, although deadlines seem to be something that are taken for granted, I end up whistling Dixie trying to do things at the last minute. I am tired of excuses, and 2008 will have a full editorial calendar that will be adhered to. There will be a lot of changes, some big mass mailings, and some major changes (ALL GOOD, I PROMISE!) This has been my baby since I started it in 1999. I put millions of hours into it, endless rubber checks, hundreds of thousands of road miles, may an equal amount of air miles, all for OUR HOBBY!!!! It is a hobby, I am a builder, and I am doing the best I can. I will never be able to fit or wear Gary's shoes: he started what we all know today as the modern model car hobby, I just happened to be at the right place, at the right time. I owe everything I have done to Gary and Roy; they were the two who I would not be where I am today without, besides the hundreds of writers, contributors, and tens of thousands of friends I have made over the past nine years. I am not going away, MCM is here to stay. My two cents: change, please!!!!
  9. Any type of automotive primer surfacer will work, such as the ones from Duplicolor, Napa, Bondo, or the Tamiya Primers are fanatastic, but pricey The clear should be okay over the decals just make sure you let them dry for as long as you can before you spray the clear Always use light mist coats with the primer It can craze the plastic if shot on too wet and fast The new Testors Lacquers don't need primers I shot the new Revell `49 Merc last weekend on straight plastic Came out great!!!!
  10. Well, I guess I should say something. I have no "filters" or any restrictions on what I will run. I guess that sums it up for me :-) If it's a great model, it's a great model, right? Now, where's my beer.....
  11. MORE MORE MORE!!!! This is the stuff I love Getting to know and hear about everybody Come on guys, time to type!!!!!
  12. Real or Model?
  13. I will see what I have in storage Have to go pay the bill anyway one thing about paradise, no more room, and storage is probably more than a studio apartment on the mainland Oh well :-) Thanks, Dave! I will let you know I appreciate it I will be working on it this weekend, I hope
  14. I am working on the resin Roswell Rod kit I featured in a recent MCM. The kit comes with a resin small block but I want to run one with more details and seperate pieces, and a good TH350 auto trans So, my question to all of you is: What kit has the best 1/24 scale small block Chevy 327 engine and TH350 auto trans? Here is a link to the feature in Rod and Custom: http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/featur..._rod/index.html
  15. Chris, in the years I have been doing this, I have found that Macs worked best with as much RAM stuffed in them as possible. The G4 was good, but the G5 is double or more of that. I built a G4 dual for Jairus from an old Quicksliver single 500 or so, and stuffed it to the max. That did wonders for it, but the G5 was light years ahead I had a buddy come over one day while I was working on a layout, and he was so PC, it wasn't funny. So, I showed him a little something on the Mac that I like to do to blow people away. As you know, we have the dock on the bottom (or side, or whereever you want to put it) that you can put all your programs in to launch instantly. I have in the dock: Quark Photoshop Illustrator In Design Go Live Dreamweaver Word Excell Entourage Mail Transmit Safari Firefox Adobe (pro something) toast Popcorn and about eight or nine other programs I launched them all, one by one After they all started, and were running, I went and opened a cover for MCM, which is about 60+ MB, in Quark, adjusted the image instantly in Photoshop, and sent an email at the same time. This was with every single program running on the dock! Now, I hate to downside things, but I am only running with half the RAM the G5 can take, and it's not matched pairs, I buy what I can, when I can. If I think the Mac's going to crash, I go get a cup of Coffee, and by Java, it doesn't crash!!!! Again, this is just my personal opinions, and we know what that's worth :-) I just love what the Mac can do, have bought every single version of the OS that is released, every iPod that is out, and have yet to buy an iPhone (That's not a Mac thing, it's AT&T, I prefer Verizon!) Time for moi moi... aloha kao ko!
  16. CAL, I agree with you, almost entirely, but I have some questions. I am curious as the specs on each that you use. Just for my own curious self, that's all I too built a PC for my PC work, and I only use Windows 2000 Pro on it, anything else I refuse It does the legal stuff fine, and covers most of the problems I have with any "foreign" files sent in that the Mac won't convert. My feelings is that the PC is finally catching up to the Mac, not the other way True, Mac users have been the minority, but that is a marketing issue, not a "what's best" issue I would rather be a minority, no one wants to kick number two out of their spot, right? And we know how really is behind the Mac. (I actually have a letter from him, and he tried to call me once) my only claim to fame........ Get a Mac, you'll never go back.
  17. I lost, the iMac is self contained. Where you looking at the little box, the Mini? That is perfect for those who want to shift over from PC's who already have monitor, keyboard, and everything else Great thing about the Mac is that you don't need drivers 99% of the time I even bought the HP laser printer that was for PC only, for under a hundred bucks, and got it to work on the Mac with a simple download Try that on a PC!!!! I still have the first PowerBook G3 that I did MCM on from 1999-2001. I still have its replacement, the Titanium G4 PowerBook 1ghz, which is the one you see me using at shows to shoot with One other thing about the Mac, I went to the IPMS show in LA, and during the seminar I did on photographing models, I plugged Aaron Wood's Canon camera into the Mac, and controlled it directly and in real time from the notebook! No other drivers or downloads were needed, the software I had knew what it was, could control everything on the camera, and was incredible. Made me want to buy one of those cameras!!!! Well, that wraps it up for now If you want a deal, go to the Apple web site, and on the lower right column of the store page, you will have to scroll down some, you will see the Clearance Store, I shop there all the time. You get some great deals and warranty is same GO MAC!!!!
  18. I was going to say either that pic was a long time ago, or James did a lot of cleaning up!!!!! :-)
  19. Get a MAC, please!!! I was born on a PC way back when during the time of the old Kaypro's (used to have to boot up from a 5 1/2" floppy) I switched to MACs when I bought Plastic Fanatic, back in `97 or so I still have to use a PC for some accounting and legal stuff, but the MAC is the only way to go PC's have tried to play catchup to MACs since day one. Windows 95 was like the first operating system of MAC's back in the 80's XP? copied MAC OSX Tiger was the best release so far, now Leopard is out, and I am waiting to go there. I run a dual 2.3 ghz G5, with 4 GB of RAM, two 300GB hard drives, and a RAID backup The MAC tower G5 can run two monitors out of the box The new MacBook will boot up and start in 35-45 seconds, if not faster New Windows is over two minutes. And yes, we have no viruses So, get a MAC, you can get a base model for a grand, the MacBook, and buy the memory from online, like OWC or others. You'll never go back And the support, it's the best

  23. Steve, if you are up, try register and post something, as a test I will purchase it and see how it goes No, I ain't buying that 74 Chevy for three grand, but just do a dummy post, for a penny or something, and I will pay through PayPal See if this all works I should just bite the bullet and get that three grand software, but that's not in the cards yet Maybe after my next trip to Vegas........
  24. If they don't show up in the Events of the next issue, they I didn't get them. I update the web site with each issue, I know I should do the site first I should also send replies back to each notice I get I will start doing that, Thanks, Len!
