    49 Ford

Thahks for the comments, he should write a book about his life. He has a million stories to tell and isn't shy about telling them.

    49 Ford

Don't remember which kit, built a little while ago. It's based on a car that ran shine in Georgia. I work with a guy from Macon that is full of stories of days when he was young. One day he was telling me about his 49 Ford he had many years ago. So I built this based on how his car was setup. I lowered the back by re-arching the kit springs. Added some of the things his 49 had, the Pure Oil sticker he got a kick out of, he used to work there pumping gas as a young man. I didn't gloss it up because his 49 had more of a satin finish for running shine at night. I took liberty by adding blue metalflake to the black, doesn't show up well in the pics, but looks great when the light hits it just right. Well thanks for looking.
  5. Thanks, I appreciate the comment.
  6. Thanks, I kinda got off track by my rant. Guess I need to let it go.
  7. Pretty much box stock, a few minor additions. Another one of my shelf favorites. I painted it purple after my dads 29 rod. One day I will build one just like his in scale. I've only seen his car twice as my uncle had it for years and years sitting in his garage. My dad gave it to him begrudgingly by his mother when they were both young. I think that was when my dad bought his new 49 DeSoto and his brother needed a car. My brother and I tried to get him to sell it to us when our dad passed but he had to act like an idiot. Even though for over 50 years he has never done anything with it. Now he has passed and god knows what will happen to it. Yeah, it still rubs me the wrong way. Well anyway, hope you guys like...
  8. Motor looks great!
  9. Thanks for the comments. I'll post a pic of the motor compartment. I didn't do any under hood detailing, so its pretty plain. Some days I'm into under the hood detailing, other days, just not. That was one of those not days.
  10. Pretty much out of the box. The only thing I did was add a few more antenna's, fire extinguisher, spot lights, just some minor details, thats about it. It's in Dupli-Color Gunmetal Metallic. I tried to get that burled look that Jeep seats have by mixing some shades of brown. As a former Jeep owner, this is one of my shelf favorites. Welp, thanks for looking.
  11. Looks real good.
  12. Thanks for the comments, it's pretty small. I don't think it's more than 4 or 5 inches long.
  13. I did this one in honor of my dad a few months ago, he always talked about the day where he would be tooling around in one. Never saw the day unfortunately. A straight out of the box build done in Model Master British Green. Thanks for looking.
  14. I think ya did a great job, looks fantastic.
  15. Thanks Harry!
  16. Yes, other than color and air cleaner, they were physically identical. I've read some 383 Magnums in 69 did come through painted turquoise if equipped with A/C. The specs on the 383 Magnum was 335 hp at 5,000 rpm, and 392 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm. In a nut shell, they took the 440 heads and cam, and stuck them on/in the 383 block. The Clean Air Package was a hose that came off the air cleaner to a cap on your valve cover. It was a PCV system where you vent the crankcase. Common place now adays but back then pretty revolutionary in cutting down on air pollution. The carb was also a "leaner carb", the mixture screws were preset then filled so you couldn't mess with the settings. You can see the hose coming off the air cleaner in the pic.
  17. The Magnum used a hotter cam, bigger valves and I believe higher compression ratio. The compression ratio on my Chargers 383, non-magnum was 9.2 to 1, and I believe the magnums were either 10 to 1 or 10.5 to 1
  18. It looks pretty awesome for being an old mpc build. You might have gotten the hood from me off the SA board. I remember someone needing a hood for the mpc kit. Great job!
  19. Wow, beautiful build. The amount of detail you've done is amazing.
  20. Only the Magnum version of the 383 was orange. All other versions were painted turquoise.
  21. That is really nice and clean, I love the color.
  22. Thanks, the inside rear panels, if you look at the pic of the motor you can see them a little, are built out for the mechanism to go in when the top folds down. I had to shave a little off the sides of the rear seats.
  23. Thanks, it was pretty easy. Nothing really to complicated.
  24. Man that is awesome..
  25. Looks great, both of them. You'd never know they weren't molded that way.
