  1. Sleeper, Huh? Sir, I believe what we got here is a good ole, well built, BadNasty Pro Street! Excellent color choice... and thats a great looking engine!
  2. Thanks to Marc Nellis for posting the pic below... It turned out to be the inspiration I needed for my project! He also pointed me in the right direction for some of the parts. I used the engine from the 66 Rivi, very nice block to start with. The valve covers and plug covers are from the old AMT 32/40 double kit. The 6 pak of Strombergs are Reps and Minis. Its topped off with 2 sets of 49 Merc air cleaners (Thanks, Hollywood!) I scratchbuilt the ribbed valley cover, intake runners and firewall. I also had to mod the fan belts to clear the fenders. I just need to do a second blackwash on the valve and plug covers to finish it off. Yeah, I know, that middle air cleaner is crooked! I bonded 2 mil mirror mylar to sheet styrene with a coating of future, rolling out the excess till it was flat, to create the chrome firewall. I'm making tuck and roll running boards and roof insert. You can see the rough cut running board in the pic below. I'm still kinda split about installing the roof insert... It seems a little too thick and bulky. Heres how she's lookin' at the moment... Thanks for lookin'... Comments always welcome!
  3. Andy, Beautiful paint and polish! That color really highlights the lines of the body. Yeah, I couldn't tell there was paint on the spokes. Personally, I think gold or graphite would really enhance the look of the wheels.
  4. Great looking color for that car! Are you going dark or light on the wheel spokes?
  5. Very unique decals! This will be a one of a kind Merc, thats for sure! Will you be finished for NNL West?
  6. Thats pretty cool bodywork, considering when it was done! Didn't the Predicta have a "turbine" style wheel? Something like that would look good on it.
  7. My Nomad Street Freak? Heres a few pics... 4 pics/ Nomad
  8. You never cease to amaze me at what you can bring back from the dead! Great looking Mustang!
  9. Wow, thats a pretty impressive amount of work! Everything is painted and detailed beautifully!
  10. "Feast your eyes and criticize" Thats a great line! Whats to criticize? Its a great looking bike, with a well thought out scheme. I love it! My hand grenade wasn't as technically correct as yours...
  11. Like Ismael, one of my favorite decorations also. I added a 1/16 shrinkwrapped engine...
  12. Its been a record year for me! I've been building 4 per year for several years . This year I built a few quick projects (3 wks is quick for me), with the intention of having fun, not stress! I refused to strip paint this year, which helped in getting stuff done (ever notice the paint strip routine sidelines projects!) Yeah, a few aren't the best finishes I've produced, but I'm happy with each and every one of them! I'm all over the map this year... '55 Nomad Street Freak, Batman Forever, Caddilac STS-V, Vending Machine show rod, '49 Merc, '32 Sedan, '27 roadster and the Bat Kart. I've also made progress on these... Gilmore air racer (need to finish decals), '32 coupe (current obsession, hoped to finish this year...) Flintstone Merc (modified a 39 delivery interior) and (I believe) a Flintstone '40 custom pickup (modified a '59 Impala rear and adapting a Johan Mercedes 500K frame and engine.) My nice pics are at the link below... My Model Cars Hope ya like... Comments always welcome! Happy Holidays to everyone!
  13. Hey Albert, Glad you made it over here! You'll find lots of great people and models (and people like me! ) Enjoy.
  14. I finally got the chassis buttoned up and set the stance like I wanted it. You can't get a deuce lower than this! The wheelbase and track stayed where they should be, the tires are rubbing the tops of the fenders (if anybody ask, its airbags!) so I guess all my measurements worked out. Heres a simple pic of the chassis. I just need to add some rear shocks/coilovers to complete it. Gold'n Deuce also gets a little bit of claustrophobia! I had to narrow the belts to fit between the fenders and finesse the water pump so the fan belt/ pulleys could scoot back a hair. Believe it or not, the bottom pulley doesn't touch the crossmember. If I use a fan, I'll have to do some serious cutting on it to fit. I figure its mostly hidden and most wouldn't notice (which means everyone will ask me why the fan blades got cut off!) Hope ya like... Comments always welcome!
  15. Rex, I'm probably going to go with a film to cover the firewall I made. I figure a thin film won't have the edge problem. If all else fails, I'll look into the product you suggest. Thanks.
  16. Oh yeah, I think I can wait a few days! You're like the Model Car Santa Claus, coming up with these right now!
  17. No, I haven't. I passed on buying it as I didn't expect it to be any different than the previous product.
  18. I don't have the mylar yet, but I plan on going to the local plastic supply place, Tap Plastics, to see what I can scrounge up. I'll probably have to buy way more than I need, so hit me up on it later. The paint is the new Testors one-coat system, but trust me, it still needs a second coat of clear.
  19. Yeah, it did. I tried it over primer grey, white, gold and aluminum. The shine of the aluminum really brings out the color and flake.
  20. One can only hope...
  21. Not a replica, but most definitely inspired by that car! Theres been a number of traditional gold T's and A's at the car shows this year, and I really like the look.
  22. Heres my latest update on my 32 project. I laid down Model Master Inca Gold over buffed Mettalizer aluminum plate (the brightest silver paint in my stash). After a clear coat of MM hi gloss, all it needs is a once-over with some polishing compound. I don't think I've ever laid down a color/clear coat as smooth... everything always needs a little work to smooth it out! On the down side, some of my body work ghosted up, but I'm going to accept it and call it good! The scratch built firewall will be covered in mirror mylar. I'm planning to make some pearl white tuck and roll panels for the running boards and roof insert. The stock kit interior will be pearl white also. Question... Where are the spark plugs on a nailhead engine? I can't find any good ref pics. I tried yet another new technique with the Alclad. I always have problems with the black base bleeding thru, so... I primed with Tamiya flat black, cleared it with Tamiya gloss clear and shot the parts in Alclad polished aluminum. Alclad polished aluminum seems to go on better for me and to my eye, looks about the same as chrome. Anyways, I'm just about ready to build up the chassis and running gear. Enjoy... comments always welcome!
  23. Like Raul said... Clean and simple! Kinda like our High School Hot Rods, huh? Keep pluggin' away at the builds, they do get finished eventually!
  24. Thats Kool! Definitely will get noticed on the show tables!
