  1. Nice job! I have one of those on the bench, but I went brain dead trying to figure out which dash to use! I'll get back to it soon (I hope!)

    40 Ford Kustom

Mmmmm... Thats Pretty! Like everyone said, thats a timeless design, very well executed in your model.
  3. Absolutely Beautiful build! Yeah its ironic that nobody knows that when they look that good, there was enormous amounts of Blood, Sweat and Tears behind it. Well done... Give yourself a pat... Get on with the next build!
  4. Very Cool! Also a very beleivable finish, not too overdone. Love the roof patch! Great little "Rat Ba%#*@d" wagon too!
  5. Well, There goes all your spare time and money! Welcome back to the hobby.
  6. hey parki, Welcome to the forum. Your gold 36 and green 58 do it for me!
  7. Great build! R&R's build up nice if you put some work into them. I think I would have taken vacation from work before I started the BMF Excellent foil work!
  8. Sweet and Simple... I like it!
  9. Absolutely Beautiful work!!! I don't even have a concept about how you go about scratchbuilding those cars, but I can sure sit back and appreciate them by looking!!!
  10. Found 2 things that have made a difference... A NEW sheet of BMF and not using the "Ultra Bright Chrome" type. I had to strip the first side, but its worth it to have a finish I can live with! I'll report back in a couple days on progress!
  11. "building a "survivor" hot rod"... Funny you should mention that... Thats kinda the theme I was shooting for with the old style paint and wires. Peterson, Whats it gonna take to shame you into building something? We can't have an "Accumulator" in our midst! Hmmm... Maybe an email campaign from every builder on this and the "other" board? I know you have the skill and urge... And a T Bolt... Oops, didn't mean to mention that!
  12. Lookin' good! That stance fits that car so well!
  13. I'll be at GoodGuys... Make sure you look me up if you're there!
  14. Nice triple threat! I like all 3, but the deco Fadeaway really turns my crank.
  15. Good eye... Johan Mercedes wire wheels.
  16. The trim is already fairly smooth... The BMF itself has a lot of inherent orange peel. Yeah, I know that nothing looks better than foil... which is why I'm hesitant to paint.
  17. Now thats SCHWEEEEEET! Glad you rescued that one from the "Shelf of Bad Projects"!
  18. This one got put away a while back, when I got dissappointed in the paint job. Since I've been building "dirty" hot rods lately, maybe this will get some primer spots to cover the screw-ups! I still need to figure out a way to pin stripe the scallops, maybe with some thin gold decal strips. The interesting part of the paint is how a rust color started showing up around the lower door hinge... I have no idea where that came from, but it is a neat effect.
  19. I've already put 3-4 hours into this BMF nightmare and I'm just not happy with the way its looking! Theres just too much orange peel in the BMF and being bright and reflective, it really shows up badly. I've considered putting a satin clear wash on it... I've also considered stripping the BMF and taping it off for alclad or duplicolor chrome paint! Here's how its going together... pretty basic build other than the suspension mods and headers.
  20. Peterson, Good to see ya back here! (Must be goundhog day since you popped up, heh?) I use Dupli under Tamiya all the time, but once in a great while it will do some micro fish eye. Tamiya primer is always best, and when I'm doing a contest paint job, I'll do bodywork in dupli and top it with Tamiya primer. Never used duplicolor clear, don't really like Tamiya clear (its hot on Tamiya colors). I use Testors new lacquer clear exclusively, now. Yes, Testors Lacquer clear will work on Tamiya color. Testors is the only thing that stands up to the abuse I call polishing!

Thats cool! I find that overcast skys make great lighting for model car pics, instead of direct harsh sunlight.
  22. Pssst... Hey, Buddy... Your cars on Fire! Great paint, great build!
