  1. You don't wanna hang with me... I get seasick!
  2. Revell modified kit
  3. Be careful what you wish for... I was sitting at work this morning, thinking how much I rather be finishing all the little details on this build, and whaddya know? The company begins a massive layoff... me included! OK Gang, Heres my latest off the bench... Resin 27 Ford Roadster, Rat Rod style. The Chassis, wheels, and engine are Revells Dirt Modified w/ trailer kit. I BMF'd the entire body, shot it flat black and sanded a good deal of the paint off. The track nose is from the modified kit, with a scratchbuilt wire grill (it came out OK, but I'm not real thrilled with it). I narrowed the Duvall windshield to fit the smaller cowl and cut new glass for it (one of the harder parts of this build!). The roll bar and headlights are parts box stuff. I also sanded the gumball before applying it, to make sure it would have the effect I wanted (sure made it fragile, though!). Kdog Graphics Maltese cross, 25 T rear nerf bar... I had other graphics planned, but the home made decal was a poor contrast w/ the black and silver. Resin seat, painted Testors flat red and dirtied up with black pastel powder, scratchbuilt dash w/ craft wire bezels over photocopy guages, parts box steering wheel (The banjo had to go, way too big) and a resin skull shifter. The intakes are stainless swages (used to flare hard lines), Arrowhead distributor, MCG looms... Kinda got that "Happy Face" look, doesn't it? Works for me, cuz I got the happy face by finishing it. It ain't perfect, but it was a fun build, just letting loose and not worrying about realism! Hope ya like... Comments always appreciated!
  4. Hovings body and your eye for old school style... An unbeatable combination! Sweet custom with all the right touches!
  5. Nice work on the master! Thats such a natural for that car!
  6. Wow, Beautifully done, great details throughout the the model. Very nice photography, also. The old concrete base really brings the model to life. Can't wait to see more of your work!
  7. Thats Hot! Great looking build so far!
  8. Looks good!
  9. Whatever you do... Don't screw up again! Your wife might not be so forgiving next time! Then again... The sweet lady HAS put up with you all these years!
  10. KDog, Nice builds! Good to see some work come off your bench again... Its been too long! Love the Dart! It looks sinister, even in red!
  11. Very, Very Cool build! With skills like that, now I'm hesitant to post my stuff! Great detail and finish... I especially like the muffler detail, since thats something you NEVER see!
  12. Ismael is right on with his glue hints. The only things I can add are... Clear acrylics work well, but have poor structural strength. CA or epoxy will always be stronger than the paint. If the joint does come apart, it will take the paint with it. I scrape paint off of very small areas with the tip of my exacto knife. When I can't clean the area, I go with 5 min epoxy, most times.
  13. Never seen the Corrugated siding type. I've used halfround rod on a flat sheet to get this... Kinda time consuming work, but it came out ok
  14. The daisy wheels look right, very similiar to the factory concept Radir style they used. Milberry has a good point about the side pipes, if you really want to emphasize the concept theme. The roof spoiler works well, just seems a bit tall. I can see, though, that it would be a chore to make it shorter, since that looks like another kit piece modified.
  15. Are you willing to trade the Moonglow? Got a pic of it? I understand not wanting to finish someone else's work, just doesn't seem right, does it? But hey, If the work is well done, it would save me hours of bench time! Do you ever get to NNL West in NorCal? Some of your work seems very familiar.
  16. Thats got some really nice lines! I agree, it does have the "Factory Concept" flavor. Keep on building, I look forward to seeing it done!
  17. Self imposed rules are meant to be broken! Great looking build! I definitely like the clean look of the old Stockers. You've come a long ways in the last couple years. Now you've learned that some projects are for learning and to use on the next project!
  18. Thats some great looking projects! I really, really have to build a 54 Chevy, "Moonglow" style!
  19. Thats really cool! A great peice of engineering and something never seen before! Too bad the panels warped, with all that work in it.
  20. I expect great things from this project! (you never dissapoint) Good to see you back at the bench. I'm not familiar with Dale Jrs ride... is it the pic in your avatar? Can I make a color suggestion? If you're going with a bright pearl orange, go darker than gunmetal on trim... graphite, anthracite, pearl black, etc...
  21. Wow, Thats some incredible engineering on all of the hinges! I love the use of floss frames as hinges, pretty ingenious! A great build, taking a common kit a notch (or several) above anything else you'll see on the tables!
  22. Its a great looking custom! I don't criticize choices made early in a custom build (ok, maybe the mirrors... ), as they were your choices and seemed right to you. In all, its a very nice build with a great nostalgic flavor to it. I think the only thing I would have done different is less monochromatic paint, with maybe a few more colors on the frame, engine and running gear.
  23. That so cool!!! Just told a few friends about this kit and I think we'll be splitting a case between us!
