1975? So what... Kits are meant to be built! Whatever you decide to build, its better than sitting in a box! Ratrodder... got any pics?
-
Good Teachers = Priceless! Thats a pretty nice paint job so far, polishing should be easy. Just make sure you have enough clear on it to work with. I'll have to try those embossing powders.

General Product Comparison Education
Steve H. replied to RodBurNeR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Detail photo etch... Model Car Garage. Resin... Modelhaus, Replicas and Miniatures of MD. All three companies make excellent products. I'd buy anything sight unseen from them. I'm also partial to Arrowhead distributors, along with other items in their line (metal rim and resin center wheels, for one). Pegasus wheels, Aoshima wheels (when you can find them!) -
Micro Set or Micro Sol decal solutions... But it will depend on whether theres any glue left on the decal. A clearcoat after would really help.

He went over the deep end

Hey, Now you have a new blue thing, so you can stop picking on my blue thing! Congrats, nice vehicle. See what a little time spent on the mainland will do to you! -
Didya maybe forget to post the pics? Sounds nice but to quote Schultz... "I see nothink"

Here is my original 66 Fairlane GT that has been done for 38 years.

Very nice! I wish mine held up as well as that has over the years! -
Looks good... Got a somewhat sinister appeal to it!

Lookin' Good! Great color combo!

My last three completed builds......Summer of 06
Steve H. replied to Len Geisler's topic in Model Cars
Geisler pulls off a Hat Trick! Nice stuff, especially the green 32. Everything about that one just looks right! Its a good feeling when you break the slump, isn't it? -
Great build! I won't say its nice... That would defeat your purpose! How'd you get the wierd staining on the inside right bed rail?
-
4 1/2 ain't bad... Takes me that long to sand seams! Sounds like a pretty wild color combo... I've seen Jet exhaust used before and its a pretty neat body color.

Dave, I haven't had time to reply to your other post on this project, but just wanted to say its a great looking project so far! Heck, I spent a week on a duvall windshield frame! Don't feel bad about an afternoon... You're like Speedy Gonzalez!
-
Maybe finish the project I started. I was using a Revell Willys as the frame and engine donor, just got sidetracked (short attention span model builder ) and haven't done much since the mockup.
-
Or you could try a yellow/white scheme like this...
-
Highboy! The donor kits will be a Johan Mercedes SSK and a modified dirt racer... There's odd stuff in both!
-
One of my favorite cars of all time... The 60's era Batmobile!

George, The flash on mine is just about what I expect on a resin. Kinda heavy on the firewall but nothing that can't be cleaned up. I'll probably go ahead with this project as you see it here. Its just wierd enough to work as a custom!
-
Heres one I'm thinking about... I just haven't convinced myself the bed works with the truck. The two styles seem to be at odds with each other. I like the fins and the way the cab/hood beltline can continue thru the fins. The resin cab and hood is a swap meet find, not really sure who cast it. I've spent the last day or so getting the 59 impala tail cut to fit. If this project does continue it'll be fenderless and have a very interesting choice of engine, along with industrial grade tires. It is kinda Buck Rogers looking... I need to mock it up with some tires to see if that changes the look.

New person in the group
Steve H. replied to JackieCheyenne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Welcome to the Forum, Jackie. Been quite a while since I've seen any of your work, hopefully you'll be posting some soon! You'll enjoy your time spent here... Its calm, cool and relaxing! -
Saw this 25 T Custom Rod at Goodguys yesterday... Absolutely awesome details... Gauge pods molded into the cowl Simple custom interior Creative metal shaping... I love the steering box mounts... More than just your ordinary backing plates... Even simple little touches like the tail light mounts. But... I just didn't have the heart to tell the guy the wheels were WRONG! I know he's trying to update a classic style and create modern appeal, but I sure wish it had some Whitewalls on Radirs! Still, I love creativity like this and wish this was in my garage!

Heres the latest to come off my bench... Waaaay off the bench! This build is just a bit of nostalgia for me, as these were the first Hot Rods to catch my attention as a little kid. In the late 60's/early 70's, there were several of these running around NorCal. Every year they got just a little bit higher, trying to "one up" the other guy. Imagine what a ten year old thought when he was standing next to one of these! AMT 55 Chevy Nomad, painted Metalspecks red with Tamiya clear red overcoat, parts box wheels and tires, scratchbuilt suspension, kit engine with modified parts box headers... This build fought me almost the whole way! Building the suspension went very well, but after that it was just an uphill battle (no pun intended)! The engine wasn't looking too good, so I just glued the hood shut and forgot about detailing it. The primer went on nice... Metalspecks red was lookin' pretty good... Then the Tamiya clear red crazed everything. Oh well... I had a good side and I didn't want to get into the paint/strip/paint/strip routine, so I could live with it (think shelf model!). Then came the BMF... The first session started with bad foil and had to be stripped. The second try worked ok, but not something I'm proud of! Then came the Alclad sessions for the various little bits and peices... bubbles, runs and dark finishes! Some of it got stripped, some of it got repainted with Duplicolor chrome, some just got a pass as good enough. For my finale, as I was waxing the body to clean up fingerprints, I tore off half of the left side Hooker Header decal! Oh well... shelf model! Thanks for looking... Comments always appreciated!
