  1. I wanted to inform everyone that i did attend the Octobers meeting but no pics for that one since i forgot the camera at home. Heres pics from last nights meeting.
  2. You did a awesome job on the Gremlin, Marc keep up the great work. Everything on it is awesome.
  3. Heres an update on the 'Stang i'd got the body & frame in primer the engine is assembled and painted. The engine has been brush painted thats all i had on hand for the Ford Blue.
  4. I'd been working hard on this one all weekend so heres where im at. I'd filled in the stock taillights in favor of a set from a 68 Charger i'd drilled a 1/8 inch hole on each side to countersink 'em. Also i'd scratchbuilt a bed mounted fuel tank out of a ink pen with parts box chrome caps with a watch winder gas cap & filled & smoothed the dash and added a aluminum backing from a Diet Coke can and added some gauges.
  5. Ian- Nice work as Steve stated the front subframe has to be in gray primer with the factory overspray. But the lower piece on the K-member goes black. I ran into the same problem with my 69 Roadrunner project used to be a GTX and Steve pointed me in the right direction. What source are the dogdish wheels coming from. I found mines from a Revell 64 Chevy C10 Pickup minus the Chevy caps and replaced them with a set from a Lindberg 64 Belvedere kit and cant tell the difference. Sorry to hi-jack youre thread but heres what those 64 Chevy C10 wheels look like on a Mopar with the 64 Belvedere caps. Also i'd added a couple of pics of my 69 Roadrunner with a Hemi.
  6. I'd built this Mustang back in March of 2010 but it was time rebuild it. Im replicating this one from the movie "Cannonball". The engine is from a Revell 68 Mustang CJ kit to replicate the 427 ci engine in the movie car the top end of the engine is from a Revell Cobra S/C kit and a parts box intake no pics of the engine yet.
  7. Thats awesome that Wal-Mart still has access to model kits for the hobbist. And they ship it to the store how cool is that and reasonably priced.
  8. Heres another one of my stepuncles old kits that needed to be restored it was built 20 years ago. First thing that went was the kits frame and replaced it with one from a Revell 70 Challenger T/A kit which required some trimming of the stubs by the front subframe. Im still debating on going with the kits Hemi or a 440 Magnum.
  9. I wanted to show everybody on the progress on the Chevelle. Im at 95 percent completed on this one. I'd applied Dupli-Color Bahama Blue Metallic.
  10. I'd got this one from my stepuncle along with 12 other kits i'd figured i would rebuild this one since it was built 20 years ago so its time to restore it. I had to practically sand down the whole body to eliminate all of those nasty Testors glue marks. Once it was nice and smooth i'd primed the body with Krylon Ruddy Brown primer. Im ditching the kits Flathead in favor of a Chevy 283 ci engine from a Revell 64 Chevy Pickup.
  11. Dave- The website for those plates is http://www.spencer1984.com .Once you visit the site look up Tips & Tech the how-to is located October 2009. I also PM'ed you Bill's e-mail address.
  12. I'd recently started on this one which i got from my Stepuncle that was getting rid of his old kits that he built 20 years ago. As soon as i got them the deconstruction began on all 13 of the kits two of them were toast. First thing i did was superglued the backsection of the cab and soon to be filled in. The kits front axle will be chucked in favor from a Revell 86 Monte Carlo SS.
  13. I had an idea of building a Pro Streeter out of this AMT 70 Monte Carlo SS kit that i'd been having in my collection sitting there collecting dust and i seen that i had a AMT 70 Coronet "Pro Street" chassis so i'd sawed off the backhalf and grafted it onto the kits frame which was a no-brainer still need to fill in the seams. Also i'll be using the kits big block and add some hi-po goodies and shave the firewall. Still deciding on the color. The wheels & tires also came from the Coronet kit and even the rear axle.
  14. Brandon- Nice work on the Bee theres one little tidbit i wanted to mention when it comes time to assemble the frame glue the subframe onto the frame and spray the whole unit in primer gray and mist spray some of that blue that youre using to replicate the factory overspray and also paint the suspension pieces in semi-gloss black. The lower control arms in zinc chromemate. I hope this helps.
  15. Dave- Great start on the Merc i like where you going on this one. I wanted to give you some ideas on what i did mines. First thing i did was used a small piece of sprue from the kit to fill in the turn signal indicators. Stripped off the chrome plating on the kits chrome reverse wheels and primed & painted them silver. To get the correct dash order one from Modelhaus or Replicas & Miniatures Of Maryland. To find Dupli-Color paints your local auto parts store carries them. If you cant find Dark Shadow Gray Metallic try Medium Gray Metallic which is dead-on. As far the interior i would use the one from the kit and add seat belts. I got this idea from member Aftashox he made a set of seatbelts out of medical tape and used photoetched buckles. The easiest way order a set from MCG. I hope this helps if you need any additional information PM me.
  16. Welcome Matt you have some awesome scratchbuilding skills far more advanced as i am. Keep up the great work i hope to see more of youre work.
  17. Dave- The hood scoop on my Merc is scratchbuilt that a good friend of mine has made up for me as a favor. I'd sent him the kits smooth hood and went to work on it.
  18. I'd wanted to keep everyone up to speed on the Merc i havent done much of anything to it as of yet. I need to get on the ball and order the 51 Merc dash & a set of aluminum spun Moon discs. Once some progress is being done i'll keep ya'll posted.
  19. Davyou5- Heres a replica that im working on from the movie "Cobra". I'd used the Revell kit since the top was already chopped. The kit includes the grille just like the one in the movie. I'd used the kits chrome reverse wheels except i'd stripped off the plating and painted them Silver Metallic and the tires are from a 1980's MPC kit. The paint i'd used on the Merc is Dupli-Color Dark Shadow Gray Metallic. Theres a few things on my build thats not accurate but close enough.
  20. I'd finally got my Catalina Kustom finished it was a blast to build. It took me a while to finish but it was worth it. Enjoy the finished product.
  21. Mark- Thanks for the correction this kit was a little something i'd had laying around and i wanted to do something with this kit. But if i come across a AMT 71 Mustang kit i'll go that route since it has the stock interior & other pieces. As far as the AMT 73 kit goes i'll use that one as the wreck.
  22. Im off building another Eleanor project from the 1974 film "Gone In 60 Seconds" . This one will be the one that Pace stole from the car wash to shake off the police. The starting point is a crappy AMT 73 Ford Mustang i havent done much on this one.
