Heres another one of my builds i wanted to show ya'll. It started out as a AMT 90 Chevy C1500 Sportside Pickup the first thing i did was to remove the 2WD front suspension to make way for the 4WD axle which was plucked from a AMT 05 Escalade EXT which resembled the 1:1 truck's axle. The engine is from a Revell 37 Ford Street Rod kit which had a nice detailed Small Block Chevy engine thats more detailed than the kits engine and it has a automatic tranny i used a set of valve covers from a Revell 94 Impala SS kit and the rest of everything is from the kit. What ya'll think.

I changed out the wheels i wanted to give it a little old school flavor. What ya'll think. George- Thanks for pointing out that i need to jack up the rear i still need to add the leaf springs & paint the rear axle. I hope you like the Centerlines instead of those oversize wheels.
-
Heres some progress after being on the shelf since december i added a set of redlines and jacked-up the rear a little i stripped off the gold paint i applied because the paint crazed im planning on painting it a different color. What ya'll think so far.

I finally got some paint on this one over the weekend instead of going with the Go Mango shown on the 1:1 car i went with a different approach i went with Dupli-Color Orange Mist and i also went with a set of Brembo disc brake kit that came from a Aoshima kit. Since the kits rear axle wouldnt work with the rear wheels i went with a Revell 69 Charger rear axle which fits perfectly also the kits leaf springs will be moved inboard to accomadate the wheels. What ya'll think.

Heres a later project that i wanted to show ya'll i thought this body was gonna be a 73 model come to find out its a AMT 71 model so i thought about converting this into a 73-74 model anybody knows where i can find a conversion kit in resin and its possible this kit can be converted. I appreciate it. Heres the car im replicating. Heres the build.

Heres another one of my projects i managed to get some paint on i painted it with Dupli-Color Bahama Blue to resemble the Lemans Blue paint which wasnt availble on the 1968 models but its a pretty color. What ya'll think.
-
I finally got the chance to post a pic of the T-Bird in paint after i applied the self-etching primer i primed the body with Red Devil Flat White which i found at Big Lots and painted the body with Dupli-Color Bright White and next up is the interior & engine. What ya'll think.

Over the weekend i managed to get the wheels painted i used Dupli-Color Chrome thats what i had in my shed i was gonna paint them Silver but i didnt have any i tried the chrome it doesnt look too bad. I also finally have a pic of the Hemi its kinda crappy as you can see im not that great at photography. I threw on a set of Competition Resins "M/T" valve covers that i got from member Big Gary. A Big Thanks. What ya'll think so far into this build.

George- I know the 1:1 car is a Road Runner. Im building a Road Runner clone out of my GTX but thanks for the reminder though. Im building the GTX to look just like the one in the pic.

Heres my newset project that i got from a fellow club member when i was at the club meeting last monday. One of the members brought over a bag of kits and this Monogram 56 T-Bird stuck out like a sore thumb i didnt hesitate to snatch it up when the opportunity arised all the rest of the kits were Aircraft & Military kits. The body shell and a couple other pieces are diecast. I already have the frame in paint and i primered the body, hood & top with Dupli-Color Self-Etching Primer and im gonna follow it with some White Primer since the body is going in white. What ya'll think.

I came to a conclusion what to to with this project it took me 4 months to figure it out. Im building the GTX to look just like the one in this picture. Heres the progress so far i already have the frame painted i gave it a mist coat of Dupli-Color Orange Mist whis the car will be the same color. Its gonna have the kits Hemi under the hood instead of the kits 440 ci i originally planned. The wheels are from a Revell 69 Shelby Mustang kit . What ya'll think.

More progress on the Willys i grafted the Revell 41 Willys front cap onto the cab it was a bear to install but it was worth it. I brought the Willys to the club meeting the fellow members were pretty impressed by me grafting that Revell front cap onto a AMT body im debating on leaving the hood on or off the reason for that is when i installed the front cap the bottom of the hood sides has a 1 inch gap on both sides.
-
Heres some updated pics of the Willys. I got the front cap & interior tub from forum member Dan Whitaker A.K.A promodmerc for sending me a interior tub & a glue bomb 40 Willys pickup which had a good bit of parts to use on my 40 which worked out just fine. I have the front cap & other pieces off of the glue bomb in the Strip Tank.

Heres some progress on the Nova i havent done much on this one. The only thing i did so far was painted the frame, modified the kits roll bar and i also stripped off the flat black paint that i applied recently i wasnt too happy with the results the black looked like a grayish black and another reason why i stripped off the paint was i could still see the seams in the body so im redoing the body work so im getting this one right.

Well fellas change of plans on the General Lee i decided to retire the Dukes car and replicate Stuntman Mike's Charger from the movie "Deathproof" to match Stuntman Mike's Nova. I hope ya'll not offended on the count of me building the Deathproof car instead of the Dukes i'll build on later on once i buy another Charger. BTW: The Charger is in the purple pond as we speak. I'll have future pics of this build.

"American Gangster" 66 Ford Mustang "Shelby" GT-350 Fastback
Car Crazy 81 replied to Car Crazy 81's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Heres some progress its not much but its better than nothing. The frame has been painted with Rust-Oleum "Textured" Semi-Gloss Black and also i added a set of Shelby "Hertz" Magnum 500 wheels. -
Im at it again with another project i got this one in a trade i figure "Git R Done". I got the Willys from forum member Gene Gigandet A.K.A 59-Desoto. Thanks for the model, Gene . Im gonna build this one to match my 41 Willys "Gasser" the color is gonna be Candy Blue with a blown Pontiac 421 ci engine im not sure on the wheels time will tell. What ya'll think.
-
I got the Nova painted in Flat Black i feel it needs some body work done. Heres the decal thats going on the hood.
-
I got the decals in place which came from the AMT kit note i didnt take pictures of the rebel flag due to forum rules. Next up the interior & roll bar thats where the fun is gonna begin.
-
Ya'll probably seen this Nova already it was originally gonna be built to replicate my aunt & uncles 72 Chevy Nova which was purchased new in 1971 but i couldnt get any pics of the nova as reference pics so i decided to build this one from the movie "Deathproof". The interior is gonna be simple instead of that plexiglass partition they had in the movie car its to scary for me its gonna have a roll cage and two racing seats. The wheels came from a 68 El Camino which the silver accents is going in black. Its gonna be hard to find the rubber duck hood ornament & the skull decal. What ya'll think.
-
I been thinking of this idea that i got from forum member Big Gary so i wanted to see if i can do it. I grafted a Monogram 57 Bel Air front bumper onto the 55 it doesnt look so bad on there. Gary, sorry for stealing your thunder. Next up adding a 55 Bel Air dash in place of the kits dash. What ya'll think.
-
Heres the pics of the mods i did to the Vette it was a bear to get it just right. I used the parts from a AMT 63 Corvette such as : The rear split window & fender vents. Im still working on the bumperettes since i removed the notches that were there. To replicate the Vettes 327 ci which is coming from a Revell 63 Impala SS and add a fuelie intake system.
-
I finally got the General Lee painted i used Dupli-Color "Engine Enamel" Chevrolet Orange. No offense to any Mopar fans about me painting a Mopar with a Chevy color i find this shade is dead-on. Im still deciding if i wanna go with the kits 440 ci or the Hemi time will tell. Instead of using the AMT "Dukes Of Hazzard" wheels i found a set that are custom that came with a AMT 69 Riviera kit.

If the paint is a lacquer, acrylic or a pre-painted kit use 91% Isopropyl Alcohol let it sit overnight and scrub with a toothbrush. Brake Fluid works best as well to me its too greasy it takes awhile to get that greasy feel off the plastic but that works. If the paint is a enamel use Purple Power or Castrol Super Clean. I use Purple Power its cheaper and it works just like CSC & Simple Green but with Purple Power you get more for your buck. I hope this works for you.

Heres some updates on "Melba Toast" the frame has been cleaned up and that is removing the copyright stamping & pin-injection marks and painted the frame with Rust-Oleum "Textured" Semi-Gloss Black. Also a few pieces on the car will be replated such as: The bumpers, valve covers, air breather lid & the wheels since this kit is 29 years old its time for the chrome pieces to be redone.
