Heres some updates on the Vette the red paint i laid on her i wasnt happy with it so i stripped off the red paint and something gave me a idea to modify the Vette into a 63 Stingray. The rear window is gonna be from a AMT 63 Vette and also the fender vents also from the same kit. I talked with other fellow modelers and they told me "Thats gonna be a lot of surgery on that kit youl'l be better off buying a Revell 63 Vette" which is a snap kit. So what ya'll think.

Its gonna be a bear trying to fit that Revell Caddy engine in there. Im contemplating on going with a Buick Nailhead engine i'll let ya'll know whats going under the hood.

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
Car Crazy 81 replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Try letting the body soak in 91% alcohol overnight if that doesnt work let it sit for a few days if the alcohol isnt working like it should soak it in brake fluid for a few days. -

91% Isopropyl Alcohol only works on Lacquer, Acrylic & Pre-Painted Kits. If the paint is an enamel or oil based paint use Purple Power or Castrol Super Clean. I wish i would of have mentioned this sooner. If the alcohol roughed up the paint use the CSC or PP. If that doesnt work use Brake Fluid. -

Fujimi Lover- What kind of paint you used on your project. If the paint is a Lacquer paint try using 91% Isopropyl Alcohol talk about works great and 20 minutes later you have yourself a new model again it also works on stripping those AMT pre-painted kits not only that its a lot safer than oven cleaner. I use Purple Power for stripping Enamel paints & 91% Isopropyl for Pre-Painted kits & Dupli-Color paints. -
Beefheart22- I used Krylon "Farm & Implement" Old Equipment Yellow and Colorplace Flat Black. And to separate the yellow & black i used thin pinstriping so the lines wont show.

Thats a great idea you came up with, Lyle it looks great now you have my gears turning. Now im gonna have to buy me a Black Widow 57 Chevy and a AMT 57 Chevy and put 2 and 2 together and build the car from the movie "Hollywood Knights" and also known as "Project X". I seen all of your builds and theyre flawless.

I ougha have this one finished by thursday because of the model contest thats on saturday which i'll be entering Eleanor and three other models. Wish me luck, guys. -
I just painted the buggy yesterday since it was a nice, hot day its painted Dupli-Color Bahama Blue with a Silver Basecoat and i also carpeted the interior with fake felt that i bought at Michael's. This one is gonna be in the Under Glass section pretty soon its unreal that im building this project so quick i guess they dont have many parts to start out with.

I got the hood from Motor City Resin Casters talk about great quality parts. Thanks Jeff Ballard for making this great piece i sure will order from him again. I had to fix a few issues such as : sanding the top of the engine bay so the hood can sit flat and the kits cowl had to be removed so im gonna fabricate one from sheet styrene. I finally have the dash finished talk about a pain to modify i used the face from a AMT 73 Cougar kit which is about the closest to the stock piece. -
I just laid some paint on the Charger its painted Dupli-Color Medium Green Metallic its pretty close to the factory F5 Green. I got the engine bay glued in place all thats left is put the Hemi in place. Next up modifying the interior tub from a 69 GTX.
-
I got the engine completed and in place. I painted the engine with Dupli-Color "Engine Enamel" Pontiac Blue which is the closest color i had to match the factory Mopar Turquoise Blue.
