  1. Haven't seen any of the new broncos yet, so here's mine. In Grabber Blue to match my 71 build. This AMT kit is great! The only downside to me is the decals are thick and stiff.
  2. I meant to put that in my other mustang post. These are also some of the best decals ever as well as the plastic. They are ready quick, very thin, conform well. They will fold over easily as well. Bee on your best when you decal. And registration on mine is slightly off which makes a huge difference in scale.
  3. I found a listing of " the most original 71 Mustang in existence" or someone like that. Can't find it again now dang it. Mine is silver (pewter) with blue interior like the web page. I used duplicolor wheel paint that is close to pewter. This may be the best kit I've ever built. Be done in a few days.
  4. If you decant and airbrush, the engine colors can come out very nice. They also make good body paints. Definitely need primer though. BTW, There are 2 testors Ford engine blue colors. The one that is Ford/GM is a darker color, which could be correct for some applications. The other is Ford Engine Light Blue. I like to airbrush those as well. Some people have kit stashes, I have a pretty good paint stash from owning a hobby shop back in the 00s. So I use them
  5. I am amassing several leftovers from revell model As and have quite a few 32 parts as well. My question is is anyone making extra parts for these? I have at least 3 extra frames, as many interiors, one 29 body. I need suspensions and other parts. I can finish more of these. I don't want to buy a new kit really because that just means even more parts. I don't think I have enough front axles to cover these frames sufficiently. So wondering if there is a source for more parts. I'm a bit out of the loop of late, so I apologize and hope this hasn't been covered recently.
  6. I messed about with several ideas, but the Bronco is related in kit form and real form. The space from axle to rear of truck is correct so you have to figure up where to cut the Bronco body and how to fill it back in. But if I can do it, most anyone that owns a razor saw should be able to do it better. Changing from 4wd to 2wd was a bigger challenge, if not a harder part. But I used the dually kit there as well. The dually (bricknose generation) is pretty closely related to the 80-86 other than the interior is much nicer than the bullnose trucks.
  7. This generation is a major change from the dent side years so it will take a whole new tool I would say. Frame and underhood are completely different as well as the body and interior. But yes, if they make it, I would buy it.
  8. One of the tricks with these is to assemble as much of the cage and frame as possible before paint. Leave the top bars unglued, but put them in place so that the pins and holes stay bare. Or have a drill bit on hand to clean the holes. Clearances are tight on this kit. Way more than what most models are used to. And all the cage bars have to fit properly for the rest of the kit to fit. The engine is tough to get in place and the rear end is kinda vague all the way around as to how to get it in properly if you don't understand how a real modified is put together. Pinning is a great idea and it may help you. I didn't use any on any of the 3mods so far
  9. Thanks. There's a few more than these. The RoG Porsche 917 KH, AMT 51 Chevy. Probably a couple more? Hope all is well with you. And everyone else too. I don't have computer access and looking on phone is a little harder. Trying to get back in the habit though
  10. I'm going to do a Ford. Apparently I'm a Ford guy AND I think it will look interesting beside my Mustang GT4 and Lemans GT builds
  11. Thanks for the offer, but I found those and the Mr Horsepower decals in an old monogram 32 Ford roadster kit. I put those on just this week. Thanks for the compliments on paint. I painted it kinda like the real truck, i.e. two tone blue, then crappy solid blue on top of that. My truck was either painted at Maaco or in a back yard before I got it. It's awful so I couldn't really mess up the model paint. I love paint like this though. You can't mess it up.
  12. And I forgot the Moebius 70 F100. That's where the blue and white on the 58 came from. I've used those colors on a lot of builds. The Rust-Oleum cans will paint several cars. Lol. And I also like that combination.
  13. I'm pretty far out of the loop on the Salvinos stuff. My NASCAR days are mostly past. But I would do the LM car.
  14. There is a thread about the blue F150 over in trucks section. In the under glass and an old one in WIPs. Yes it is the monogram/revell 1/24 stepside kit. Bed sides are the body sides from the Bronco. Inside bed and tailgate are the 91 dually. You could use the 91 slab side monogram and use just the bronco wheel openings I guess. The real trucks are very similar under the skin. Might be better to put the 80-86 body on the 91 chassis? The engine compartment might be better.
  15. There's a few tips needed to put these together. On Facebook, there is a thread about it on the Styrene Addictions page. The rear axle is a little complicated, introductions are a bit too vague. The engine fit can be tricky, as well as all the little bars and panels. Test fit everything several times and understand what's happening before you put any sort of strong adhesive to it. This is possibly the most tricky kit I've ever built. Drew Hirerwater and Clay Kemp have some good stuff on these as well. Good luck when you get started. Wes is really good about trying to help folks. You may want to check him out Facebook if you're on there.
  16. I worked on this a while. Replica of my 1:1. Started with the Revell step side kit. The underhood of that kit is completely incorrect for that generation. It is correct for the dent side trucks though. I ordered a resin trans and steelie wheels with dog dish caps. Can't remember where at this point. That's what was on the truck when I started the build. But I found real alloys, then found a set of kit wheels in my junk. For the bed, I traded around for a Bronco body. Cut it down from the back corner forward to make the bed sides. Bed inside and tail gate is from an old monogram dually. It's close enough to my real truck to suit me and everyone sees it knows what it is.
  17. Great build! I recently did this one as well. Went back and looked at HPI guys build. As he did, I glued a lot of the sub assemblies before paint. I think that helps in the long run. Also waited till last thing to do the wiper. And built it up on the windshield. Don't worry about perfection in these builds I bet the real car was far from perfect in its day. And mine doesn't sit on all 4 either. It's close and ya can't tell unless you're really close.
  18. Is there any way to get Salvinos to offer this in a kit? I'd love to have that.
  19. Wes from WMCC is an old modeling buddy of mine. I used to go to Bowman Gray every week religiously. I did graphics for Chris Fleming before the Madhouse cable TV show. These are why I absolutely had to build these. I built the Burt Myers car first and learned the "curiosities" of building the kit. My ex wife worked at same company as him back in the 90s so that was a connection there. I love how these kits turn out. Prototypically low. Aggressive. Yes you have to actually do some mods and figure out some stuff, but great kits of the subject matter.
  20. I took a bunch of pics back in March to post up of things I've built or finished so far in 2023. But then life got to happening. The blue F150 is a replica of my 1:1 and the 65 Thunderbird is what my 1:1 will look like when we get to paint. I really need to come here more often since I'm back to building more.
  21. Thanks. They take 1-7 where I go, but it does say 1-7 CONTAINERS. So you may be correct
  22. I think I just found the answer...I searched after I asked. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/172503-returning-sprues/#comment-2589265
  23. Can I put leftover sprues/parts in the recycle bin in USA? Painted, unpainted, chrome? I know some of you save it other ways, but I'd like to just throw in the bin if I can.
  24. The interior is a base of blue Duplicolor vinyl spray, same that I used on my door panels. There seat is a darker blue duplicolor I had on hand. Then I masked the outer and middle sections and misted on a lighter blue to sorta resemble my real seat. Embossing powder for carpet and the carpet dash cover.
  25. And even further, the stepside was called the Flareside. The model is finished, but I haven't had a good opportunity to get better photos. Soon....
