  1. Here was my attempt a looooonng time ago using the 2nd iteration kit. I believe my goal was the Ivy Green. I cant remember what the exact paint was that I used.
  2. Matt and Robber, I believe there were two Amt 68 Camaro kits, one in blue with rallye wheels on the box, and one in red or orange with cragar sst wheels on the box. Do you remember which one you got?
  3. Thanks AFX. Just my luck they are sold out everywhere. Does anyone know if these tires come in any kits? It looks like they may come in the AMT `68 Camaro kit? The Olds kit appears to have them, but only the small ones are in that kit.
  4. That looks great AFX! Are these the tires that you used? https://www.hobbytown.com/amt-parts-pack-tbd-amtpp006/p250860
  5. Thanks again guys! Yeah, I used Rustoleum clear, which works really well and hardens fast! The Heirloom White spray is actually a satin color. I found that you must either spray immediately or wait the full 48 hours after spraying color to spray the clear. Otherwise, the color coat gets a bunch of tiny "cracks" in it.
  6. These? https://www.amazon.com/AMT-Goodyear-Polyglas-Tire-Parts/dp/B00B5DKYE8
  7. I had this one sitting around and decided to throw it together between commissioned projects. First, this is a really great kit! Except for body portions that I prepped, I pretty much just cut parts off sprue, painted them, and put them together. Except for the body not sliding down completely (you can see in some of the pics), everything went together perfectly. Also, Revell really captured the proportions well. The pictures do not do it just justice. As I was building it, I kept finding myself looking back at my work space to take in the cool body lines from different angles. This is build box stock except for the ignition wires. The paint is actually Rustoleum Heirloom White, which appears to be an excellent substitution for Wimbledon White. I have a street rod built using Testor`s Lacquer Wimbledon White which is very, very close in color to this, but slightly darker. The interior is also Rustoleum (Sand). I am not a truck guy, but I could easily see myself building a few more of these.
  8. Given that this is the third attempt at this subject for Revell, I really hope they nail it because I doubt we will get a fourth attempt. Looks good, and the box art is really nice! It is probably too much to ask to get staggered tire sizes from front to rear.
  9. Am I the only one having trouble finding one of these kits? I`ve been out of the loop, and out of the market, for a little while, and I am aware of the shakeup and delays at Revell, but I am seeing some people asking crazy prices already.
  10. The big 55 kit got my attention! Anyone know if that builds up nicely?
  11. I'm not a sprint car guy, but that is pretty cool. I hope it comes with those wheels. They look slightly different than the ones in the old kits?
  12. I'm excited about the Aar. I know we were all suspecting it, but it's cool to see it is going to happen. I also like to see that the TA is back, and will have to get one of those. I really like the box art!!!! Is that sprint car coming? I might want to get one of those.
  13. Is this the color scheme you speak of? I really like this one:
  14. Thanks for the very kind words everyone!
  15. Thanks guys! 1/16. It has working head and tailights.
  16. This is it for me. From an original Trophy Series MPC kit:
  17. I * think* this is the one I considered way back when and gave up on:
  18. Couldn`t agree more!! And I am kinda surprised by the responses here. I have been waiting for 30 years for a decent `69 kit. I could not get past that awful, horrendous front end on the Revell kit. And the AMT kit was awful all around, IMO. The corrections needed in this one are minor in comparison. And how often do I look into my built models in my display to look at the door arm rests? If I really need them, I will just scratch build them. $.02 contributed.
  19. I`ve been able to get acceptable results with Duplicolor:
  20. I have all mine, and yet time remains elusive. I`ve had most of these for 10 years or more.
  21. Thanks Ace for taking the time to post all that detail! I using Duplicolor from the can, just because the base coat had to be a specific paint code. I think that is one of the more susceptible brands....I haven`t had the issue *as much* with Model Master or Tamiya lacquer. I am a little worried about the Duplicolor base "pulling back" from the edges though if I try one of those on top. Maybe I just need to break down and buy an airbrush for this?
  22. I know there have been posts previously regarding this issue. And I have experience battling this for the last 25 years or so of building. But I have recently moved to a very humid climate. Just for example, the dew point will be close to 80 degrees today, and has been since early spring. A day where the dew point is in the lower 70s is rare. So, when I was up north I would spray in humid weather and I would get fogging, etc....everything that you would expect painting in humid weather. But it wasn`t a big deal if I was patient and waited for it to gas out. I have even had finishes that were supposed to be black but looked like gray primer immediately after spraying clear, but dried and polished to a deep, mirror shine. I am trying to spray my 1/12 `73 Trans Am I am currently working on, and water droplets are forming on the surface while I am spraying. Needless to say, the paint is dull, which I can live with and polish out. I had this problem up north. But I also noticed that clear from parts I sprayed 3-4 weeks ago, after a cut and polish, simply stay dull no matter how much elbow grease I put into it. I have tried spraying day and night, indoors and out, even in climate controlled area, with the same results. What are you guys doing that live in tropical climates? I noticed some mention of food dehydrators, but that gets interesting when working in 1/12 scale. I`ve also seen people buying dehumidifiers, but I would like to know if this has been effective or of there are any issues setting one of these up in, say, a garage. Thanks!
  23. I`ll second this!
  24. Great work. That looks real! These kits build up to be very realistic. I used this kit and the `81 kit to build the Alpha car, and I think they proportions, except for the tires being just a little bit too big, are right on. What paint did you use on the wheels? The color and texture are very convincing! I am looking forward to see pics of the engine if you are able to get them up.
