its all good man i actually planned to ad a poll to it over the weekend i guess spring dates would be good for those of us who cant paint indoors i have a room i mainly use for storage and in there i have a paintbooth i spray my models in thats one of the reasons i opted for the earlier date that and the kit im building is pretty basic
-
it will eventually im gonna put in a poll so we can all decide
-
nick, the colour will be either butterscotch or bahama yellow with black billboards (there is a picture of one a few pages back) the rims came in a firebird kit but i used the turbine wheels on that one i didnt think id would like them when i first looked at them but once i got those wide rear tires around them they started coming into place really nicely as for the AARC hood, yes it is too low but this repro right here is my inspiration that is the log manifold from a desoto firedome hemi on there and yes, they have one carb per cylinder (so far for my low carb diet) i dont like the rail wheels but other then thet it sounds good specially the hemi

back on topic (we were building muscle cars remember? ) here is some progress on the hemi cuda i slapped a coat of primer on the body as well as a superbird wing from the bottomless partsbox i also decided on the rolling stock the stance is no where near where i eventually want it to be , this is just a mock up to show the wheels i will be building 2 hoods for this build one will be the track hood, a fiber glass version this will be based on the stock shaker hood i cut out the lip and filled it in with a piece of styrene then i cut out a rather square hole for the carbs (on the track the car will be void of aircleaners) as we speak the fiberglass resin is drying this hood will be painted a flat black the second hood is somewhere in the mail as we speak this is a resin AARC hood this hood will be build as my street hood the stock AARC scoop will be cut of and raised by about 6 inches so to make room for the carbs and aircleaners this hood will be painted a 2 tone of body colour (butterscotch) and the the scoop will be a flat black that matches the billboard. as for interior i want to do a twotone black/tan (mainly since i have black flocking but are sick and tired of slapping a coat of black paint on the tub and call it good) any thoughts and suggestion (concerning the BUILD of this car) will be apreciated and taken into consideration

i think there is enough work left here to let you in plus, im thrilled to see some actual building goin on ( just between you and me, i grew weary of arguing the definition of a muscle car about 5 pages ago) so have at her

lates take this one line at a time when i said they misspelled hemi i was making the joke that that picture was of the car im building which (as i mentioned) runs a hemi i stretched the era from 1960 to 1980 to have a nice broad frame to build in, i didnt want to limit this build to just 2 or 3 kits so i made it span 20 years. if someone wanted to hopythetically enter a 1979 ford fairmont with a 427 in it i would welcome that openarmed because even though the ford fairmont is NOT a musclecar , a ford fairmont with a 427 in it IS like you said before, some cars were only muscle cars in appearances and that is why i added the two door rule. 2 doors cars just allow for a more muscular desing and they stey closer to the idea of a musclecar because they are less intended for creature comfort or hauling families then 4 doors are (also, wiki had it as a criteria) lastly, i did not come up with these rules to exclude anyone or to rub anyone the wrong way i just have them to keep us all on the same page

too bad on your kit was the person who bought it in on this build, maybe well still see it again
-
cool they misspelled hemi though

96 Chevrolet Camaro - Lowrider or Tuner ?
diymirage replied to CustomFreak's topic in WIP: Model Cars
im not sure if there is such a thing as a "euro style lowrider" id like to think the europeans got better taste then that maybe the french would though, who knows at any rate, i would just build it as a weekend warrior slap a big engine in there, toss those bycicle wheel out and get some nice looking cragars or something slap some nice wide rear tires on there and your all set it should look very nice with all the opening panels -
are those all correct colours ? im thinking of painting my hemi cuda butterscotch im pretty sure they werent sold in that colour but if anyone complains ill just tell them its a charger on steroids dont forget to keep updating those pics too (ill post some tomorrow myself)
-
cant go wrong with cragar SSs why not put steel wheels all the way around and mail the cragars to me ? at any rate, welcome aboard en enjoy
-
added you to the list
-
feel free to build any of those engines in a era correct 2 door i KNOW you got some
-
for this build i used the rule of thumb that a muscle car is a domestic 2 door build around a massive engine between 1960 and 1980 THAT is the subject of this build and any other cars are NOT i really dont care to waiste any more time on dicussing weather or not a family sedan is a muscle car or not i have set a subject for us to build and whoever is willing to build within that frame is more then welcome and who ever wants to build something else is nore then welcome to do that too i just ask that those dont spam THIS thread with arguments and pictures off all that is NOT the subject
-
added you to the list love the wheels on that ride and we havent set a due date yet ill prolly post a poll over the weekend and we'll figure it out
-
ill allow the elky no problem the kyle petty would be ok IF the origenal was a 2 door build between 1960 and 1980 ill ad the elky to the list for now id love to see another superbee in here added you to the list
-
im not sure where i got those from either but they fit the tires i have so ill prolly use them unless my painting skills improve to the point of me being able to paint stock ralley rims decent
-
listen kid if you honoustly wanna join in the fun pick a musclecar and join in and build it with us if you are just trying to be a jerk about it or have a minority complex because in a different build led my another person someone was allowed to build something that broke every rule than just take your impala and go play in a diffferent sandbox cos i dont need any of that, i got a few 4 year old nephews for that so , in overview, if you wanna build a musclecar with us , build a muscle car if you want a pissing contest go look for an electric fence
-
yes it is you dont have to have a factory issue engine in it say the word and i will ad you and your 427 to the list added you to the list
-
i hope your not planning on using those rims thats the kind i have picked out for my cuda it would be so embarrasing if we both en up wearing the same shoes (also, dont forget to ad some progress to the buildoff thread)
-
that looks an aweful lot like a 4 door 1995 model you know we cant allow that in this build

how do i wire a firedome hemi ?
diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
it came in the modified stockers hauler kit the kit had a 53 ford pick up truck with a trailer the truck had two options for engines, the stock ford flathead V8 and the desoto firedome the firedome again can be build in two different ways, with the fuel injection as it is shown here or with a log manifold and 8 seperate carbs (i used that set up on this engine) thanks i might change it from how i have it now im not planning on sticking it in a era apropriate car so im not to terrible concerned with accuracy at thist point but again, thanks for the tip -
it doesnt i told him that too but i wasnt to assertive about it yet in this build is muscle car is a domestic two door built between 1960 and 1980 around over-sized, gas guzzling power plants with some aggressive body styling and minimal interior features outside options for bucket seats and eight-track decks. that would be great if this was a community muscle car show however, this is a community muscle car build build another one from the ground up and ill let you in
-
did you manage to find a body that will fit in this build for it ?
