  1. i dont think he was talking about the kit but about the car with the gold engine and the shiney new alternator
  2. cant go wrong with a hemi that is a nice looking model, will this be a sleeper (if that is possible with that hood, wheelbase and lift) or will this baby get full warcolours?
  3. thats a great subject ive been a longtime admirer of the IDF a buddy of mine was telling me how on a trip to the Holy Land he saw a guy wearing a shirt that had the IDF logo on the front and on the back it said "america we got your back" in my opinion the IDF earned its stripes during the six day war and it also proved that the events recorded for us in 2nd kings 6:15-17 still occur today at any rate, will you be posting some of the IDFs catchkey phrases on the jeep ? like "uzzi does it"
  4. i would consider the gaping holes between the fender and inner fender flaws i usually put a litte peice of bare metal foil down and if that is to shiny i dry brush it with white i acutally meant the CB radio, not the antenna im pretty sure in the bandit it is mounted underneath the dash instead of on the tunnel (i might be wrong on that one though) still, its a good looking TA
  5. it is a very nice kit let me rephrase, that, it is a very nice model (the kit itself is one of the worst i ever saw) but there are a few minor discrepancies for the movie car as mentioned before , your missing the front and rear license plates the indicator (think thats what they are) lenses in the front bumper are orange, they are clear in the movie car and i think (could be wrong on this one) that the CB is mounted in the wrong spot other then that its a good replica still a great TA regardless
  6. no idea what a taildragger is but it is looking way to classy to be a slowrider keep it up man (at the risk of making a mockery of it afterall , how bout a two tone deep bleu/purple paintjob? )
  7. nice i saved the hemi for a future build i guess the bilboard makes sence on a car that doesnt need work hey, where did you get the rims ? they look an awefull lot like the rims i have on my sardine challenger also, nice job on the grille of the 33 not my style but i admire the workmanship
  8. coming along nicely i did a tub on my 53 ford (so far the only one i did) and i did it very crude, i cut out the sections where the wheels would rub and then build new wheelswells like they were build out of metal plates from evergreen also, i saw you needed some help getting power to the rear wheels ? i have a driveshaft, rear differential and the two rear axles from a RWD toyota supra (no suspension parts though) it was given to me for this very build but i had a identical part in my partsbox so i used that you need it?
  9. very nice those mopars sure were beautyfull back then like the hemi too
  10. both the 2004 re-release of the 1971 and the 2005 remake of that movie are on my Christmass list you know, AMT/ERTL made a model of that car and revell made a metal bodied kit of it
  11. i know this is gonna sound hilarious coming from me but it seems to me that we should just do whatever the rules of the build are the question was posed on page 3 of the truck build threat (by yours truly) and the awnser was that we were going to keep everything in one place (it keeps the forums that much more clear and keeps the build thread up high on the list as we all post our progress) so it is my point of view that by entering a comunity build we should follow the rules set by the person who oversees the build (in this case the initiator of the build, dukefan) of course, i myself em excempt from following SOME of the rules because i obtained written permission to do so
  12. my guess would be the best way to do this is to get the custom hood and cut the back end of it and then graft it to the rear end of the revellogram hood or, if you wanna spends the extra moneys on it , buy yourself a AMT/ERTL johhny lightning 1970 challenger RT it has the hood you want the only issue is, it is a ragtop so you can build it top up or down it can be build as a hardtop with a littl bit of effort but its a great model (doesnt come with a hemi though) heres a few shots of mine
  13. hi , welcome aboard that is the modified stockers kit right ? did you go with the flathead or firedome engine ? i build the same kit a while ago and mainly use it as my display model (only allowed one model in the living room so i cheat by using the trailer, little does she know i have a 7 car hauler trailer waiting to be build) at any rate, here is mine that reminds me, you didnt put the bill board up on the trailer, just curious but why did you choose to build it that way ?
  14. lol, i was looking at the wrong one
  15. gotta admit i was close, i mean i got the car right didnt i ?
  16. that looks awesome nice job
  17. welcome aboard i love the idea of slamming a real engine in that baby you'll find you fit in just fine here
  18. thanks and like i said, this is my first time building a turbo from scratch so im sure the next one will be more accurate
  19. yes it would, but i had the rear end that you see on it with the matching front rims so i just made do unless you wanna donate a nice ofroad combo
  20. its all good bro what you do not realize is that you are looking at a hybrid K04/T28 turbo in this particular turbo the exhaust gas goes straight through one part of the snail and exits on the bottom (i realise that is hard to see in the pictures i posted) the cold air is sucked in through the center of the exhaust snail (i know its a bad design because it heats up the air even more) and then runs through the compression side of the snail and exits in a straight line into the intercooler i know this is not a conventional design but it works surpisingly well you know, you're right, i didnt build a proper replica of the K03 or K04 you would put in this engine but there is just so much custom work in this build i couldnt be extremly bothered by accuracy i mean, think of the parts allready involved thanks for the advise and i will keep it in mind for the next build for now, im staying with my line that this "should" work aswell as long as i can get the same 17 pounds i get out of my 1:1 im good
  21. i remember back in the old days, living in the old country i would watch the british version of the discovery channel and they had a show called thunder races the precept was simple 3 teams of 3 people each of them had to build a vehicle to the same purpose each team got a certain amount of money with which to buy the car (or cars) used and all the materials they then got 3 days to build in fully furnished garages after that....they raced my all time favorite was where they had to build a 4 wheel drive they bought two VW golfs, cut the front off the one and the rear of the other they then welded the front of the one where the rear of the other was missing link the throttle and trannies and done but i digest i knows its spelled "digress" its an inside joke there was one episode where they had to build a limo and one of them was indeed a beetle (your story reminded me of that) also, click the link for the street truck build in my siggy to see what im doing with a beetle
  22. per request here is what i have been up to this weekend i got the supra rear end mounted to the frame this gave me the exact location of everything else so i installed the radiator (was a lil bit afraid it might not clear the hood but there turned out to be plenties of room) i got the intercooler build and the turbo hooked up build the exhaust put the intake manifold in and ran the charge pipes (the engine and intercooler are one unit now but not yet mounted to the frame) did i mention i also managed to slap on some paint the yellow is not as bright as i hoped it would (hopefully some clear will make it pop) there is also a little bit of orange overspray (freehanded it) but in general im pretty pleased with it so far (keeping in mind in just getting started scratchbuilding) i also talked to a board member about getting some custom decals so there is still more coming (i forgot to ad a picture of the dash, that is the largest single piece of this kit that will NOT be modified)
  23. they used to cruise in your home town without plates on them ? this is a great model i love the amount of detail on it, enough to keep in interesting but not too much to drive you crazy very nice also, im glad you took my advise on the mopar rear end little inside humor, read my post on your fairlane and you'll understand
  24. are those welds where the headers meet the rest of the exhaust ? that is awesome great detail also i love the mopar rear end in it maybe in the next build you can bolt it up to a real car very nice model looks like you havent skipped a beat on 20 years welcome aboard
  25. the chrome on this bike looks just like the chrome as it was on my 1975 yamaha RD250 somehow it has the right depth to it very nice job
